1.Frequency of high blood pressure in Thanh Ha town, Hai Duong province

A random study on 1047 cases in Thanh Ha, Hai Duong province to evaluate frequency of high blood pressure (hypertension) showed that: the common frequency of 19.4%; among which males acounted for 23.8% and females acounted for 17.4%. The hypertension levels: 1st level 9.5%; 2nd level 6.88%; 3rd level 2.96%. Serious hypertensions (3rd level): male 54.8%; female 45.2%. Frequency of hypertension increases by age. Old persons often get high level hypertension. Pensioners, officials and small traders have higher frequency of hypertension than others. Farmers have less risk of high level hypertension

2.Study on hypertension in leaders in Thai Binh province

The study was performed on 727 currently working and retied officials in Thai Binh province to evaluate reality of hypertension. Results: the overall percentage of hypertension was 51% and tended to increase gradually by age- groups: < 60 years of age accounted for 8.8%; 60-70 years of age 14.7%; over 70 years of age 27.5%. The rate of hypertension in males was more than females. Hypertension level 1 accounted for 25.45%, level II 15.4% and level III 10.8%. The rate of hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy was 21%, coronary insufficiency 18.59% and heart rhythm disorder 3.5%. The rate of coronary insufficiency, left ventricular hypertrophy and heart rhythm disorder in hypertension level I group were 10.8%, 4.86%, 1.6%, respectively, lower than hypertension level II group (37.8%, 47.2%, 6.8%, respectively)

5.Hypertension risk factors in Thanh Ha town, Hai Duong province

A study of risk factors of hypertension included 1047 adults in Thanh Ha Town, Hai Duong Province. Results showed that: the obese people had the risk of hypertension were 12.64 times higher and the overweight people were 3 times higher than normal one. Some habits like smoking, salty eating, alcohol and long lasting stress, obesity, increase of serum glucose concentration or old age all may be risk factors of hypertension. Hypertension risk at over 60 year old is 6 time higher at the young age. Males have more risk of hypertension

6.Prevalence of hypertension in the elderly in communities

Hypertension of the elderly was studied. 1030 old subjects age 60 years old living in 3 communes (Phuong Mai – Ha Noi city, Phu Xuan - Hue city and Hoa Long – Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province). Average age: 70,44 7,54 years old. Blood pressure was measured and classified by JNC-VI standard. Results found a prevalence of general hypertension of 45,6%, simple high systolic pressure 24,8%. There is no difference in 3 localities and between male/female subjects, the prevalence increases in dependence with the age

The study of 165 the elderly with hypertension and 50 healthy people of the controls at An Hai District - Hai Phong. The hypertension: the age group of 60 - 70 is 60.61%. Blood lipid disorder of the elderly with hypertension is 61.68%; the mean cholesterol total increasing in the age group, the average triglycerid is most increased at the age group of 75 - 84 (2,02 mmol/l); the average HDL-C is the lowest at the age group of 75 - 84 (1.05 mmol/l); LDL-C increasing follow age. 8.Risk factors and the relation to primary blood hypertension studied at Bac Giang General Hospital

The enrolled subjects were any patients who diagnosed as primary blood hypertension according to JNC VI - 1997 criteria and treated at Bac Giang General Hospital from October 1st 2003 to September 31st 2004. Common risk factors were: the habit of consuming salty food in the population having this habit, the prevalence of hypertension was 2.33 fold higher than who without; in tabacco smokers - 3.04 folds higher; in alcohol users - 2.95 folds; in obesity - 4 folds; who with familial factors - 9.33 folds.These were main risk factors caused hypertension and having relation to hypertension.
