BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Mitral annulus velocity measured by doppler tissue imaging (DTI) has been used as a method of evaluation of the left ventricular diastolic function. This study was aimed to evaluate the left ventricular diastolic function using the mitral annulus velocity measured by DTI in the patients with hypertension. METHODS AND SUBJECTS: One hundered twenty nine patients with blood pressure above 140/90mmHg and age sex matched 123 normotensive subjects were studied. For measuring the mitral annulus velocities by DTI, we used the 2.5 MHz probe (Sequoia, Accuson) in apical four chamber view with the sample volume at the septal portion of the mitral annulus. RESULTS: Mitral annular velocities were easily obtained from all subjects. In the hypertension group, mitral annulus E'velocity was significantly lower than normotensive controls (5.4 1.3 cm/sec vs 6.5 1.8 cm/sec, p<0.001) and mitral annulus A' velocity was significantly higher than normotensive controls (8.6 1.4 cm/sec vs 7.9 1.1 cm/sec, p<0.001). In comparison with patients with normal LVML(IV mass index in hypertension group and subjects with normal LVMI in normotensive controls, mitral annulus E'velocity was reduced in patients with normal LVMI in hypertension group compared with subjects with normal LVMI in normotensive controls (5.6 1.4 cm/sec vs 6.7 1.8 cm/sec, p<0.001). CONCLUSION: Mitral annulus velocity measured by DTI could be used as one of the parameters in evaluating the early changes of left ventricular diastolic function in the patient with hypertension.

4.Features of hypertension in patients treated in Viet Tiep Hospital
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):19-21
A retrospective study on 1295 medical records to evaluate the hypertension as standard of JNC-VI, 1997 has shown that nearly 1/4 number of patients hospitalized in the severe hypertensive condition which can cause the complication, even death. By using Adalate 10 mg (2-3 drops in the lingual) combined with intravenous furosemide at dose of 20mg x 1-2 ampules can reduce the blood pressure to safe level after 30 minutes

5.Comments on hypertension cases with cerebral and cardiac complications at dong Thap General Hospita
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):34-37
500 medical records of hypertension were reviewed retrospectively aimed to investigate the hypertensive level by sex and age, incidence of cerebral and cardiac complications. Level of awareness was measured primarily, and treatments for hypertensive patients with complications were followed-up. The results showed that most of patients were farmers. Awareness in precursors of hypertension as well as in monitoring and control the blood pressure is poor. Rate of hypertension with cardiac and cerebral complications is higher in men than in women. There are differences in blood pressure between age groups; however, the correlation between blood pressure and age is weak and insignificant

6.Investigation of HIV transmission risk in the drug injected users at Viet Nam - China borderland.
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;430(9):47-49
The study involved 75 drug-injected users who were positive with HIV in L¹ng Sn Province. Most of drug injected users with HIV(+) are young, age from 19 - 29 years of old. 60% of participants are Kinh people, 73.6% are non-religious. 100% have low education level (under 12-class level) and 74.6% are unmarried. Drug injection is the main cause of HIV infection in these subjects. 100% have shared syringe and needle, in which 94.7% reported about needle sharing with HIV infected people. 68% reported about sex relationship. 82,3% have sex relationship with sex commercial workers. 62.7% have not used condom in sex intercourse. 100% tested for HIV and had HIV infection, but only 84% were reported about their status. 2.7% had came to the China for drug injection. 41.4% had shared needle with Chinese drug users. 64.6% had sex relationship with sex commercial workers in whore-house and 14.3% had sex relationship with sex commercial workers in hotels in the China

7.Primarily opinions of treatment of primary hypertension phase I and phase II (mild and moderate hypertension) by Qi training - vitality maintenance
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):15-17
From June, 1996 to October, 1997, we have carried on research the treatment by method of Qui training – vitality maintenance in the mild-moderate level (the first-second period) of primary hypertensive patients, In comparison with fluid-used control group (n=24), we have some following comments. - About the effect of the method of Qui-training-vital maintenance: The method of Chi Gong-vitality preserving has effect in decreasing the systolic and diastolic blood pressure (p<0,01), the systolic blood pressure decreased more than diastolic blood pressure. In Doppler cardiac ultrasonograph, cardiac output decreased but without statistic sense. The functional parameters of let ventricle changed little, without statistic sense (p>0,05). - About the effect of fludex: Fludex decreased the systolic and diastolic blood pressure (p<0,001). In Doppler cardiac ultrasonograph, cardiac output decreased (p<0,05). The functional parameters of left ventricle decreased (p<0,05), EF,% D increased. The subject is being expanded continuously.

8.Primarily results of treatment of grade I-II hypertension by coversyl
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):17-19
30 patients (male: 25) with average ages of 61+/- 3.8 and hypertension grade I-II were examined and tested. They used coversyl at a dose of 4mg/day. The results have indicated that the use of coversyl at dose of 4 mg daily reduced quitely the blood pressure and maintained this throughout 4 weeks of the treatment for grade I-II hypertensive patients. The major side effects was dry cough which related with the dose. Therefore, it should combine coversyl with other drug to prevent from using the high dose of coversyl in case the blood pressure was not reduced as wanted.

9.High blood pressure and the risk factors in Vietnam
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2003;1():19-20
With the social economic progress in recently past years transmissibly communicable disease prevalence have progressively decreased but a variety of disease including hypertension common in developed countries have become largely distributed. An investigated conducted in some mountainous, plain and seacost areas in North Vietnam. Year 1999 showed a prevalence of hypertension of 16,05%. By WHO standard of sampling in more 25 years old subjects, from 2001 to early 2002, the prevalence in Hanoi reaches 23,20%, in Thai Binh 12,39% and Thai Nguyen 13,88%. Associated to hypertension, there are various risk factors such as cerebral arterial complications, heart failure, kidney failure with large importance of development

10.Study on the effects of the TT1 prescription in treating light and medium hypertension without blood lipid metabolic disorder
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;517(8):74-77
A controlled prospective study included 50 normal Swiss white mice and 62 patients with mild and moderate hypertension without blood lipid metabolic disorder were divided into two groups randomly. The control group: 31 patients treated by Caporil 25mg, two tablets twice daily, (at 12 hours intervals). The study group: 31 take a TT1 prescription daily within 28 days continuously. The result showed that: No acute toxicity from TT1 prescription on trial dose of white mice: 50g/kg. No side effects occur when the patient uses a TT1 prescription daily. No blood lipid metabolic disorder on mild and moderate hypertension patients. TT1 had clearly good efficacy on hypotension. This efficacy after two weeks treatment is less effective than Caporil 25mg, twice daily but equivalent with Caporil 25mg, twice daily after 4 weeks. Some symptoms such as dazzle, dizziness, headache, red face, red eyes, tightness on chest had improved by TT1 and it was much better than Caporil.
