1.A Survey of Satisfaction of Physical Therapy Course according to Teaching Ways after COVID-19

Purpose:
We investigated the satisfaction of physical therapy course according to teaching ways after COVID-19.
Methods:
336 students in major of physical therapy were recruited in this study. Based on the classification of subjects in the national examination, the questionnaire was divided into 6 subjects in the basic field of physical therapy, 2 subjects in the field of physical therapy diagnostic evaluation, 8 subjects in the field of physical therapy intervention, and 3 subjects in other fields. The Likert scale was used.
Results:
In the basic field of physical therapy, all subjects were shown the high score of the satisfactory in face-to-face classes except for the public health and medical law compared to the non-face-to-face classes and mixed classes. Regarding the field of physical therapy diagnostic evaluation, the principle of diagnostic evaluation was shown the high score of the satisfactory in face-to-face classes compared to the non-face-to-face classes and mixed classes. In the field of physical therapy intervention, all subjects were shown the high score of the satisfactory in face-to-face classes compared to the non-face-to-face classes and mixed classes.
Conclusion
We found that the face-to-face classes in most of subjects was shown the high score of satisfactory. We believed that our results can be used as basic data for physical therapy major learning methods.

Klinefelter's syndrome (KFS) is a gonosomal aberration disease that occurs in males, and is characterized by 47, XXY karyotype, hypogonadism and a lack of secondary sexual characteristics. A potential link between this hormonally deficient syndrome and autoimmune disease, particularly systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), has been reported. On the other hand, KFS is rarely reported to be accompanied by rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and there are no Korean cases reported. We report the first Korean case of a KFS patient with sero-positive RA and discuss the role of the pathogenesis of RA with KFS.

4.Fimasartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, ameliorates an in vivo zebrafish model of heart failure

Background/Aims:
Angiotensin II in the failing heart initially helps to maintain cardiac output and blood pressure, but ultimately accelerates its deterioration. In this study, we established a model of arrhythmia-induced heart failure (HF) in zebrafish and investigated the role of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) modulation by using an angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker, fimasartan, through the assessment of cellular and physiologic responses, morbidity, and mortality.
Methods:
HF was induced in zebrafish larvae by exposure to 20 μM terfenadine. Morphologic, physiologic, and functional parameters were assessed in the presence or absence of fimasartan treatment.
Results:
Zebrafish exposed to terfenadine showed marked dilatation of the ventricle and reduced systolic function. Treatment with terfenadine was associated with 10-fold higher expression of atrial natriuretic peptide (p < 0.001 vs. vehicle), increased p53 mRNA expression, and chromatin fragmentation in the TUNEL assay, all of which were significantly reduced by fimasartan treatment. Moreover, fimasartan improved fractional shortening (terfenadine + fimasartan 16.9% ± 3.1% vs. terfenadine + vehicle 11.4% ± 5.6%, p < 0.05) and blood flow (terfenadine + fimasartan 479.1 ± 124.1 nL/sec vs. terfenadine + vehicle 273.0 ± 109.0 nL/sec, p < 0.05). Finally, treatment with fimasartan remarkably reduced mortality (terfenadine + fimasartan 36.0% vs. terfenadine + vehicle 96.0%, p < 0.001).
Conclusions
Fimasartan effectively protected against the progression of HF in zebrafish by improving hemodynamic indices, which improved survival. A reduction in apoptotic cell death and an improvement in hemodynamics may be the mechanisms behind these effects. Further human studies are warranted to evaluate the possible role of fimasartan in the treatment of HF.
5.A Case of Sweet's Syndrome with Pulmonary Infiltration and Pleural Effusion in Myelodysplastic Syndrome.

Sweet's syndrome is characterized by a constellation of clinical symptoms, physical features, and pathologic findings, which include fever, leukocytosis, tender erythematous skin lesions, and a diffuse infiltrate consisting predominantly of mature neutrophils in the upper dermis. Pulmonary involvement in Sweet's syndrome is rare. In addition, a pleural effusion has been rarely reported in the pulmonary involvement of Sweet's syndrome. We report a case of Sweet's syndrome presenting with pulmonary involvement and a bilateral pleural effusion in a patient with myelodysplastic syndrome.

6.Loss of Fhit Expression in Cervical Intraepithelial lesion and Invasive Cervical Carcinoma.

OBJECTIVE: The author evaluated the relationship between the loss of Fhit and prognostic factors of invasive cervical carcinomas. METHODS: The formalin prepared tissue specimens of 64 CINs and 27 invasive cervical carcinomas patients diagnosed and treated at the department of obstetrics and gynecology, Yeungnam university hospital from June 1977 to February 2001 were obtained. And then the tissue specimens were analysed & measured by immunohistochemical methods. RESULTS: The loss of Fhit was significantly reduced in invasive cervical carcinomas compared to CINs. But we found there is no relationships between the loss of Fhit and prognostic factors, stage, tumor marker, lymphatic spread and radiation therapy of invasive cervical carcinomas. CONCLUSIONS: Although the loss of Fhit was not related to the precancerous lesion of cervix, we could confirm that the loss of Fhit was important in the progression of precancerous lesions to invasive cervical carcinomas.

7.Direct Comparison between Brachial Pressure Obtained by Oscillometric Method and Central Pressure Using Invasive Method.

OBJECTIVE: The importance of central blood pressure evaluation for cardiovascular risk stratification has been emphasized. The aim of this study is to evaluate whether brachial blood pressure obtained by the oscillometric method accurately reflects central blood pressure. METHODS: The subjects consisted of 84 consecutive patients with suspected coronary artery disease who underwent cardiac catheterization. Central blood pressure was invasively measured in the origin of the left subclavian artery by using the fluid-filled system, and at the same time, brachial blood pressure in the left upper arm was measured by the oscillometric method. RESULTS: No significant difference was found between central systolic pressure and brachial systolic pressure (144.49+/-18.84 mmHg vs. 142.44+/-14.96 mmHg, P=0.063). Bland-Altman analysis accounted for only a small bias of +2.25 mmHg, and the limits of agreement were 24.15 mmHg and -19.65 mmHg. Central diastolic pressure was significantly lower than brachial diastolic pressure (75.80+/-8.74 mmHg vs. 86.70+/-10.48 mmHg, P<0.001). Bland-Altman analysis showed a significant bias of -5.45 mmHg, and the limits of agreement were 2.83 mmHg and -13.73 mmHg. CONCLUSION: These results indicate that central systolic pressure can be directly estimated from brachial systolic pressure using the noninvasive oscillometric method and observed biases seem to remain within the practical range. However, use of the brachial diastolic pressure and pulse pressure measured by the noninvasive oscillometric method is doubtful in clinical practice because of their large biases.

9.Isolation and Analysis of the Enzymatic Properties of Thermophilic Fungi from Compost.

To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on thermophilic fungi isolated in Korea. Three species of thermophiles were isolated from compost and were identified as Myriococcum thermophilum, Thermoascus aurantiacus, and Thermomyces lanuginosus. They can grow at temperatures above 50degrees C and produce high levels of cellulolytic and xylanolytic enzymes at high temperatures. Notably, the considerable thermostability of the endo-glucanase produced by T. aurantiacus has made the fungus an attractive source of industrial enzymes.

10.Clinical outcomes of stereotactic body radiotherapy for spinal metastases from hepatocellular carcinoma.

PURPOSE: To investigate the outcomes of patients with spinal metastases from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), who were treated by stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective study evaluated 23 patients who underwent SBRT from October 2008 to August 2012 for 36 spinal metastases from HCC. SBRT consisted of approximately 2 fractionation schedules, which were 18 to 40 Gy in 1 to 4 fractions for group A lesions (n = 15) and 50 Gy in 10 fractions for group B lesions (n = 21). RESULTS: The median follow-up period was 7 months (range, 2 to 16 months). Seven patients developed grade 1 or 2 gastrointestinal toxicity, and one developed grade 2 leucopenia. Compression fractures occurred in association with 25% of the lesions, with a median time to fracture of 2 months. Pain relief occurred in 92.3% and 68.4% of group A and B lesions, respectively. Radiologic response (complete and partial response) occurred in 80.0% and 61.9% of group A and B lesions, respectively. The estimated 1-year spinal-tumor progression-free survival rate was 78.5%. The median overall survival period and 1-year overall survival rate were 9 months (range, 2 to 16 months) and 25.7%, respectively. CONCLUSION: SBRT for spinal metastases from HCC is well tolerated and effective at providing pain relief and radiologic response. Because compression fractures develop at a high rate following SBRT for spinal metastases from primary HCC, careful follow up of the patient is required.
