PURPOSE: This study was to serve the sexual health education of the hysterectomy patients and to get the basic data of the nursing intervention on sexual health education. Sexual health education for the patients is an independent function as well as a professional responsibility of nurses. METHOD: The subjects were composed of 108 post-op patients who had undergone doing a hysterectomy 5 to 10 days previously and 101 nurses at OBGY hospitals. For data analysis, the study executed a frequency, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan Multiple Range test and Spearman's rho correlation coefficient, in accordance with the purpose of the study using SPSS Win 10.0. RESULT: Mean score of the needs degree of sexual health education was 3.30 point. The need for education was highest in the sexual health promotion with education related to sexual interaction the lowest. Mean score of the nurses' teaching performance degree of sexual health education was 1.80 point. The nurses' teaching performance was highest in the sexual health promotion. There exist significant correlations between the degree of patients' educational needs and the degree of nurses' teaching performance on physiosexual (rho=-.667, p< .05), psychosexual (rho=.762, p< .05), sexual interaction (rho=.667, p< .05) respectively. There was no significant difference on sexual health promotion (rho=.359, p> .05). CONCLUSION: The degree of sexual health education needs of hysterectomy patients was very high. Therefore, continuous nursing education program should be developed and provided for the promotion of the performance of sexual health education as the nursing professional role.

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a hereditary disorder characterized by renal cyst formation, hypertension, and end-stage renal disease. For many years, ADPKD was considered an adult disease. In fact, it may occur at any time in life including in utero. We experienced a case of ADPKD at 34 weeks of gestation. On ultrasound, both kidnies were enlarged and echogenic. Amniotic fluid index was normal. We discovered a family history of paternal origin. Sonographic findings of bilaterally enlarged and echogenic kidnies without oligohydroamniosis may suggest ADPKD. Renal ultrasound examination of parents is useful in the diagnosis of ADPKD.

PURPOSE: Growth hormone(GH) has not only growth promoting effect but also various metabolic effects. We evaluated GH effects by anthrometric data, biochmical data, electrolytes and simple CT in patients with Prader-Willi syndrome. METHODS: Nine children with Prader-Willi syndrome(PWS) were studied. The children were treated with GH(0.6U/kg/week) for 6 months. Before and after therapy we measured height, weight, waist, hip, and thigh. Blood sampling for eletrolytes, HgA1C, lipid profiles and other biochemistry were done in all patients before and after therapy. We also compared fat distribution with scan. RESULTS: Height standard deviation (SD) score increased from -0.7 to -0.5 and weight SD score decreased from 5.3 to 4.9. Body mass index(BMI) decreased from 28.2kg/m2 to 27.2kg/m2. But the changes in height, weight and BMI were not significant statistically. The waist/hip ratio decreased from 1.04 to 0.97(P<0.05), Thigh circumference had been decreased from 58.2+/-21.7cm to 49.9+/-6.9cm insignificantly. The visceral fat were decreased from 7,613+/-1,760 to 5,022+/-1,533 after GH therapy, and thigh muscle mass was increased from 6,358+/-1,616 to 7,175+/-2,155 (P<0.05). Total cholesterol and triglyceride decreased and HDL cholesterol increased after therapy although they were insignificant statistically. There were no differences in electrolytes, HgA1C, other biochemistry(Ca, P, protein, albumin, BUN, Cr) before and after therapy. CONCLUSION: In children with PWS, waist/hip ratio and fat mass were reduced and muscle mass was increased after GH therapy. There was tendency that total cholesterol and triglyceride decreased and HDL cholesterol increased after therapy. We confirmed that GH therapy had not only growth promoting effect but also metabolic effect on lipid and protein metabolism in children with PWS.

Primary sclerosing cholangitis is a chronic disease of unknown cause, characterized by inflammation and fibrosis of the biliary tree with diffuse multifocal stricture formation. With increasing knowledge of primary sclerosing cholangitis, it is now recognized that in the setting of inflammatory bowel disease, cholangiocarcinoma is a complication of primary sclerosing cholangitis. We recently experienced a case of 41 year old female patient who had Crohns disease associated with primary sclerosing cholangitis and cholangioearcinoma. We report a case of primary sclerosing cholangitis with cholangiocarcinoma with literature review.

BACKGROUND: Postoperative ileus and pain are concerns among surgical patients. Epidural anesthesia and analgesia with local anesthetics can decrease the duration of postoperative ileus and pain. Significant systemic absorption of local anesthetics occurs during epidural use. The object of the study was to define the effect of intravenous (iv) lidocaine on postoperative ileus and pain. METHODS: In a double-blind prospective study, 24 patients undergoing foot surgery were studied with one half of the patients receiving a lidocaine bolus (1.5 mg/kg) and infusion (2 mg/min) (n=12 Lidocaine group); the other half received a saline infusion (n=12 Control group). IV lidocaine initiated before general anesthesia and continued 1h postoperatively. We compared faces pain rating scale (at recovery room, op. day 7 PM, postop. 1 day 7 PM, postop. 2 day 7 PM), the total amount of analgesic use, the return of bowel function (first passage of flatus), hospital stay, side effects, patient satisfaction. RESULT: Perioperative IV lidocaine infusion reduced the pain scale at recovery room, op.day 7 PM, postop. 1 day 7 PM but not postop. 2 day 7 PM. No significant difference was found in return of bowel function, additional analgesics use, hospital stay, subjective satisfaction between 2 groups. No specific side effect due to lidocaine was found. CONCLUSION: IV lidocaine-treated patients has less pain postoperatively, but no faster return of bowel function in patients undergoing foot surgery.
