Sleep Medicine and Psychophysiology 2007;14(1):26-32
OBJECTIVES: Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene polymorphism has been reported to be associated with depression and therapeutic outcome in depression. The purpose of this study was to determine whether ACE gene polymorphism is associated with seasonal variation in mood and behavior in a young Korean college student sample. METHODS: 297 young Korean medical students were recruited in this study. All subjects were free of major medical and psychiatric problems. They were genotyped for the ACE gene polymorphism and evaluated the seasonal variation in mood and behavior by the Seasonality Pattern Assessment Questionnaire (SPAQ). RESULTS: Global Seasonality Score (GSS) of SPAQ between three genotypes were not different. However, comparison of the group that showed seasonality of mood and behavior during winter with the group that did not showed seasonality indicated significant difference in genotype distribution (chi-square=6.79, p=0.034). The D allele non-carrier (II genotype) frequency was significantly higher in winter seasonality group than non-seasonality group (chi-square=6.59, p=0.010; odds ratio [OR]=2.27, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.20-4.28). CONCLUSION: These results suggest that the ACE gene polymorphism is related to winter-type seasonality in a Korean population.

Journal of the Korean Pediatric Society 1994;37(9):1205-1212
We studied 21 neonates who required mechanical ventilation during study period in NICU OF Il Sin Christian Hospital with diagosis of prematurity, IRDS, pneumothorax and diaphragmatic hernia to evaluate the accuracy of pulse oximeter in predicting the arterial oxygen saturtion, hypoxia and hyperoxemia. We also studied whether the changes of birth weight, hematocrit, blood pressure and body temperature affect the accuracy of pulse oximeter. The results are 1) Linear regression analysis revealed a close correlation between in vivo pulse oximeter readings and in vitro SaO2 measurements in patients (Y=0.008X+12.34, r=0.946) 2) The changes of birth weight, hematocrit, blood pressure and body temperature did not affect the accuracy of pulse oximeter. 3) SpO2-PaO2 relationship was similar to the SsO2-PaO2 relationship. 4) When Nellcor N-100 pulse oximeter was setted at alarm limit 96% to avoid hyperoxemia, it identified 16 of 22 hyperoxemic instances (sensitivity 73%) and alarmed falsely in 48 of 92 nonhyperoxemic instances (specificity 59%).

6.Acculturative Stress and Depression of Vietnamese Immigrant Workers in Korea.
Journal of Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing 2015;26(4):380-389
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between acculturative stress and depression of Vietnamese immigrant workers in Korea. METHODS: The subjects were 230 Vietnamese immigrant workers residing legally in B or K City. Data were collected from July 12, 2014 to August 3, 2014, and were analyzed using the SPSS PASW 21.0 program. RESULTS: The average level of acculturative stress was 2.91 and there were significant differences in the score according to whether to have a religion, the number of homeland friends, and Korean language skill. The average depression level of the subjects was 15.3 and the level was different significantly according to whether to have a religion, the number of homeland friends, salary, working hours, and Korean language skill. Acculturative stress and depression showed a significant positive correlation with each other. The influencing factors of depression were acculturative stress and the number of homeland friends. The most significant factor was acculturative stress. CONCLUSION: This result shows the necessity of various programs to diminish acculturative stress to control the depression of immigrant workers.

Korean Journal of Child Health Nursing 2001;7(1):108-117
This research objected to the diagnosed patients as acute lymphoblastic leukemia, acute myelogenous leukemia, neuroblastoma, non- Hodgkins lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, kidney tumor, myelodysplastic syndrom and juvenile chronic leukemia after admission in the "P" hospital in Pusan from Aug. 1. 1999 to Jan. 31. 2000. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1. On the specific character between the experimental(exp.) group and the control (con.) group : there were 7 of 4-7 years old patients(the most) in the experimental group(53.8%), 5 of 12 years old or older patients in the control group (38.5%). Patients who experienced operation were 7 in the exp. group(53.8%) and 6 in con. group(46.2%). The largest number of the patients' diagnosis was acute lymphoblastic leukemia by 5 in the exp. group(38.5%) and 4 in the con. group (30.8%). The hardest nausea came on the second day by 5 in the exp. group(38.5%), 9 in the con. group(69.2%). 2. P-score of the nausea vomiting on the number of daily anticancer drug administration : first day, the exp. group got 9.6 and the con. group 17.6(P = 0.03). 2nd day, 10.9 and 19.4(P = 0.00), 3rd day, 10.6 and 18.3(P = 0.00), 4th day 10.0 and 18.0, 5th day 10.9 and 16.8(P = 0.05). The score showed statistically significant difference(P < .05). 3.Oral intake didn't show statistically significant difference between two groups. However the average of Oral intake of the exp. group was continually higher than the con. group except to the first day after administration. In conclusion, nursing intervention and nutrition care are much more needed on the 2-3th day after administration to reduce nausea vomiting, and for remission of nausea and enlarging oral intake it is utilizable to apply the easy, economic Oral Cryotherapy to the young patients who undergo chemotherapy.

8.Perception and Satisfaction of Anticancer Drug Clinical Trials in Cancer Patients
Asian Oncology Nursing 2019;19(1):18-26
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception and satisfaction of cancer patients participating in clinical trials of anticancer drugs and the factors affecting their satisfaction. METHODS: The participants were cancer patients who participated in more than two cycles of clinical trials at a tertiary hospital in Seoul, Korea. Questionnaires were used to assess the perception and satisfaction of clinical trials of anticancer drugs. RESULTS: A total of 106 patients participated. The average perception and satisfaction regarding clinical trials among patients on a 5 point scale was 3.99±0.45 and 4.09±0.55 respectively. There was a significant difference in the correlation among participants' perception and their satisfaction (r =.67, p<.001). Regression analysis revealed that satisfaction was explained by, perception of clinical trials (β =.67, p<.001), participation period 30~59 days (β =.21, p=.009), and participation period over 60 days (β=.20, p=.013). These variables explained 48.7% of the variance of clinical trial satisfaction. CONCLUSION: The results of this study suggest that changes in perceptions of clinical trials are needed to improve satisfaction of anticancer drug clinical trials. This can be used as a basis for improving the quality of clinical trials and education programs for cancer patients participating in clinical trials.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1983;19(2):426-429
Paragonimiasis is prevalent in Far East and a kind of endemic Korean disases. The primary site of humanparagonimiasis is the lung, but hte ectopic infection of lung fluke has been reported by many authors. Weexperienced one case of abdominal paragonimiasis in a 44 year old male with a complaint of left lowerquadrantpain. Physical examination, barium enema, and other data suggested the possibility of tumor originating from thewall of descending colon. (intramural tumor). Postoperative specimen taken from the solid tumorous lesion showedparasitic granuloma, characteristic of Paragonimus Westermani. Here, we report a case of very peculiar ectopicparagonimaisis involved descending colon wall simulating neoplastic tumor, and also review the literaturesbriefly.
