Korean Journal of Occupational Health Nursing 2014;23(3):134-145
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify factors affecting clinical nurses' presenteeism. METHODS: A descriptive cross-sectional design was used in which participants completed self-report questionnaires that consisted of measures for nurses' job satisfaction, job stress, professionalism and presenteeism. 267 nurses working in general hospital participated in this study. Logistic regression analysis was used to estimate predictors of the presenteeism in clinical nurses. RESULTS: 250 nurses experienced one or more health problems last one month. The group who experienced presenteeism during the last one year had significant differences in professionalism and perceived productivity. Predictors of sickness presenteeism in clinical nurses included work experience, total health problem and last 1 year absenteeism. Last 1 year absenteeism and total health problem were strongly related to presenteeism in clinical nurses. CONCLUSION: Major findings of this study indicated that in dealing with nurses' presenteeism, not only managing nurses' job stress and job satisfaction but also providing flexible work schedule and increasing staffing level as an organizational approach are necessary to be considered. Further repeated and expanded research is needed to explore the multidimensional aspects of nurses' presenteeism including a broad range of work setting and the influence of Korean nurses' organizational culture on presenteeism.

2.Echocardiographic Findings in Children with Heart Murmur Detected at Mass Health Screening in Kyeong-Nam Province.
Journal of the Korean Pediatric Cardiology Society 2002;6(2):175-181
PURPOSE: This study was designed to analyze the results of echocardiographic findings in children with heart murmur detected at mass health screening in Kyeong-Nam province. METHODS: Between 1996 and 2001, children with heart murmur underwent the echocardiographic examination at Gyoeongsang National University Hospital. RESULTS: The number of children examined was 129 in 1996, 26 in 1997, 44 in 1998, 61 in 1999, 60 in 2000, and 49 in 2001. By the echocardiographic examination, innocent murmur was the most commonly diagnosed(31-65%) and ventricular septal defect(VSD) was the most common cardiac defect. Between 1996 and 1998, complex cyanotic heart diseases were more frequent. The number of patients undergoing surgical treatment was 9 in 1996, 10 in 1997, 7 in 1998, 5 in 1999, 2 in 2000, and 2 in 2001. CONCLUSION: By the echocardiographic examination, functional murmur was the most commonly diagnosed and VSD was the most common cardiac defect. Currently, heart defects detected tend to be more simple and the surgical treatment needed seems to decrease in number.

Plastic bronchitis is a rare disorder characterized by the formation of extensive, obstructing endobronchial casts. It is associated with asthma and complex cardiac defects such as those requiring the Fontan procedure. The treatment of plastic bronchitis comprises conventional therapy involving spontaneous expectoration and bronchoscopic removal and specific therapy with several new drugs. Herein, we describe the cases of 2 patients diagnosed with plastic bronchitis accompanied with a different underlying disease, which were treated with inhaled corticosteroid and low-dose oral clarithromycin.

Journal of Nutrition and Health 2023;56(5):554-572
Purpose:
The purpose of the study was to analyze the priorities for educational content regarding precautions to be taken to prevent safety accidents for employees in school foodservice using the Borich priority formula and the Locus for Focus model.
Methods:
A survey was conducted in February 2019 on 194 employees in elementary school and 122 employees in middle- and high school foodservice in the Jeonbuk area. Demographic characteristics, status of safety accidents, safety education, and their importance and performance levels were assessed using a self-administered questionnaire. The priorities for the educational content on precautions to prevent safety accidents were based on a 3-step analysis method, including the paired sample t-test, Borich priority formula, and the Locus for Focus Model.
Results:
The average perceived importance of the precautions to be taken against safety accidents of employees in elementary-, middle-, and high schools was higher compared to the average performance of the employees (p < 0.001). The top priority for elementary school employees was caution against falls during the cleaning of the gas hood and the trench in the kitchen. In addition, ‘awareness of chemical signs’ was added as one of the top priorities of middle- and high school employees. The second highest priority items were ‘do stretching’, ‘safely adjusting workbench height’, ‘keeping the right attitude’, ‘using assistive devices when moving heavy things’, and ‘checking the material safety data sheet’, which were the same for all elementary, middle- and high school employees.
Conclusion
Thus, to improve the educational preparedness of employees in the area of safety precautions, eight safety/accident prevention items should be included in the safety education program.

Journal of Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing 2016;27(1):31-42
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the impacts of job stress and job embeddedness on presenteeism among container terminal workers. METHODS: The participants were 299 workers at the S Harbor in P City. Data were collected from April 22 to June 5, 2015. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and logistic regression. RESULTS: These workers on presenteeism were affected by the department of work, annual pay, and exercise of more than 30 minutes per day, revealing a statistically significant difference according to these variables. In other words, when job stress was high, job embeddedness was less, the extent of work impairment was higher, and in turn perceived productivity was lower. Work impairment was 3.11 times higher in workers with above-average job stress than those with lower job stress. Perceived productivity was 2.31 times higher in workers with above-average job embeddedness than those with lower job embeddedness. CONCLUSION: To reduce work impairment and increase productivity among container terminal workers, it is necessary to decrease their job stress, to increase their job embeddedness, and especially to do exercise for more than 30 minutes a day.

Cervical carcinoma is the second leading cause of death from cancer in women worldwide. It is well known that human papillomaviruses (HPVs) is the etiologic agent of cervical neoplasia and cervical cancer. Zinc has been shown to inhibit the growth of malignant cell lines by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. Recently it was reported that zinc-citrate compound (CIZAR(R)) has a cytotoxic effect on choriocarcinoma cell line and ovarian adenocarcinoma cell line and suppresses its proliferation inducing apoptosis. CIZAR(R) prevents the proliferation by inactivation of m-aconitase activity and induces apoptosis by increasing Bax expression and reducing Bcl-2 expression and inactivation of telomerase. We report one patient of cervical adenocarcinoma with HPV infection, who desires to continue pregnancy, treated by daily topical application of SeLava(R) which contains zinc-citrate compound (CIZAR(R)). We followed up the cytologic, pathologic and coloposcopic changes of healing process.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1999;41(2):265-273
PURPOSE: To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of non-invasive coronary angiography by electron beam tomography(EBT) for the depiction of coronary artery stenosis, as compared with conventional coronary angiography. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In 20 patients with no history of coronary artery disease, EBT (Imatron C-150) study was performed with EKG-gating. Forty images were obtained in each patient from the pulmonary trunk to the cardiac base at 80% R-R interval, and data were reconstructed into a three-dimensional coronary angiography. The interval between conventional coronary arteriograpy and EBT was less than 30 (mean, 9) days. Coronary arteries were divided into seven segments, and stenosis was defined as a narrowing of the luminal diameter of the coronary artery of more than 50 %. The results of EBT and of conventional angiography were compared for diagnostic accuracy. RESULTS: Conventional argiography revealed significant stenosis of the coronary artery in 12 of the 20 patients, while the use of three-dimensional coronary angiography by EBT revealed this in 16. The sensitivity and specificity of EBT were relatively high in the depiction of stenosis in the proximal left anterior descending (LAD), left circumflex (LCx), and right coronary artery (RCA) and middle LAD, but low sensitivity in the middle LCx and RCA. In the left main coronary artery, sensitivity was 50%. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and positive and negative predictive values for the depiction of coronary artery stenosis with three-dimensional coronary arteriography by EBT were 79%, 95 %, 93 %, 71%, and 97 %, respectively. CONCLUSION: Three-dimensional coronary angiography by EBT is a non-invasive diagnostic modality for the depiction of proximal epicardial coronary artery stenosis and appears to be useful for excluding the probability of ischemic heart disease in a selected patient group.

Korean Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition 2002;5(1):83-87
Primary peritonitis usually refers to a bacterial infection of the peritoneal cavity without a demonstrable intra-abdominal source. Most cases occur in children with ascites resulting from nephrotic syndrome or cirrhosis. Rarely, it may occur in previously healthy children less than 7 years of age, usually a girl. Distinguishing primary peritonitis from appendicitis may be impossible in patients without a history of nephrotic syndrome or cirrhosis. Accordingly, the diagnosis of primary peritonitis is made only at laparotomy. We report one case of primary pneumococcal peritonitis in a 27-month-old female who underwent explorative laparotomy to discover the cause of suspicious intestinal perforation and mechanical ileus. Later, pneumococci were cultured in blood and gram-positive diplococci were isolated from the pus of peritoneal cavity.
