Hyang Joon PARK ; Kyung Chan PARK
Annals of Dermatology 1993;5(1):1-4
BACKGROUND: Compared to condyloma acuminatum, the cause of laryngeal papilloma has not been clearly established. Although mode of viral transmission is not known yet, laryngeal papilloma seems to be caused by same viruses as condyloma acuminatum. OBJECTIVE: This study was done to investigate the HPV types of condyloma acuminatum and laryngeal papilloma and the epidemiologic relationship between these two diseases. METHODS: The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was done in fifteen cases of condyloma acuminatum and ten cases of laryngeal papilloma. RESULTS: Same types of HPV DNA (HPV6,11) were detected in all cases of condyloma acuminatum and laryngeal papilloma. CONCLUSION: Laryngeal papilloma is considered a pure viral disease caused by HPV 6 or HPVll and closely related to condyloma acuminatum caused by HPV 6, 11.

3.Two Cases of Piroxicam-Induced Photoallergic Dermatitis.
Hyang Joon PARK ; Yong Woo CINN
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1986;24(2):283-287
Piroxicam is a new nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug(NSAID) and widely used in the management of rheumatoid arthritis and osteaorthritis. We experienced. two cases of photosensitive dermatitis developed while taking piroxicam. Both had pruritic and eczematous skin lesions on sun-exposed areas and showed positive reactions to 0. 1 % piroxicam solution in photopatch test in contrast with control group, which suggest a photoallergy mechanism. To our knowledge, these are the first reported cases in the Korean literature.

4.The Effects of Hydrogen Peroxide on the Migration and Proliferation of the Human Keratinocytes during Wound Healing.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1999;37(3):352-357
BACKGROUND: Various topical antisepties are often used for postoperative care of surgical wounds. But the effect of these agent on wound healing remains an area of debate. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the biological effects of hydrogen peroxide on human keratinocytes in vitro, specifically on keratinocyte viability, migration and proliferation. METHODS: To evaluate the effects of hydrogen peroxide on keratinocyte viability, migration and proliferation, sulforhodamine B test, migration assay, and thymidine incorporation assay were performed, respectively. Diluted solutions of 30% hydrogen peroxide( X 50, X 100, X 500, X 1000) were used as testing material and growth medium alone as a control.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1986;24(1):159-163
Malignant schwannoma is a malignant neoplasm of nerve sheath origin. It develops in an unaltered nerve or in a neurofibroma, and rarely, if ever, within a neurilernmoma. We experienced a malignant schwannoma in a 75-year-old man without von Recklinghausen's syndrome. The lesion was solitary and polypoid, fungating nodule in the posterior portion of the left thigh, The tumor cells had some features of Schwann cells and positively stained to S-100 protein and neuron-specific enolase. Complete excision was performed but the associated nerve could not be demonstrable.

Annals of Dermatology 2002;14(3):153-157
BACKGROUND: Redundant and wrinkled face is a common finding in patients with long-standing leprosy, which is responsible for the appearance of premature aging. Chemical peeling plays a role in dermal regeneration in the treatment of wrinkles. However, the effect of chemical peeling has rarely been studied in patients with leprosy. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of chemical peeling on dermal connective tissue components and clinical improvement of facial wrinkles in patients with leprosy. METHODS: Five patients with clinically and bacteriologically inactive lepromatous leprosy were treated with 70% glycolic acid plus 35% trichloroacetic acid (GA-TCA). Histologic and clinical changes were evaluated at 0 and 90 days postpeel. RESULTS: Histologically, collagen fibers and ground substance increased significantly but elastic fibers did not change at 90 days postepeel. Clinically, fine wrinkles improved considerably, whereas most deep wrinkles remained unchanged at day 90. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates that chemical peeling with GA-TCA, or medium-depth peeling, causes an increase in collagen and ground substance but not in elastic fibers. These changes result in limited clinical improvement in the facial wrinkles of leprosy patients. Therefore, medium-depth chemical peeling may be insufficient to improve the premature aging appearance in patients with leprosy.

7.Benign Neonatal Hemagiomatosis with Unusually Persistent Lesions and Conjunctival Hemangioma.

Annals of Dermatology 1994;6(2):244-248
Most neonatal cutaneous hemangiomatosis are complicated by visceral involvement and. are associated with a high mortality rate in the first month of life. Some neonates with multiple cutaneous hemangiomas, however, may follow a benign course of spontaneous resolution without visceral involvement. Such cases are called benign neonatal hemangiomatosis (BNH). BNH is characterized by a lack of mucosal or symptomatic visceral involvement. rapid spontaneous regression of cutaneous hemangimas, and an excellent prognosis. We report herein a case of BNH which is atypical compared to previously reported BNFI cases. Our patient had a more prolonged course than those of usual cases with BNH and showed a conjunctival involvement.

8.A Case of Bullous Pemphigoid Associated with Graves' Disease.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1987;25(3):389-393
We report herein a case of bullous pemphigoid(BP) associated with Graves' disease(GD) The patient was 43-year-old female who had suffered frorn GD for 8 years. She had annular, erythematous atrophic plaques with a margin of small vesicles on the frontal and temporal areas, Histopathologic findings of the skin lesion showed subepiderrnal bulla, and numerous eosinophilic infiltrate in the bulla cavity and dermis. Direct immunofluorescent study of perilesional skin revealed linear IgG deposition at the dermo epidermal junction. We think our case shows a higher than chance association of BP and GD because both are basecl on autoimmune mechanism.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1995;33(5):988-993
Dariers disease is a domirantly inherited skin disease that is characterized by keratotic papules predominantly on the sebornieic areas, palmar pits, and a nail dystrophy. The diagnosis is difficult in the small group with flexural involvement because the features of flexural Dariers disease overlap clinically and histolopica.lly with those of Hailey-Hailey disease. The diagnosis of Dariers disease may be confirmed if the patient has the pathognomonic nail dystrophy. We presents a case of flexured. Dariers disease in a 65 year old woman. She has suffered from skin lesions which have some resemblance to those of Hailey-Hailey disease. We could diagnose her skin lesions as Dariers disease because she had the eharacteristic nail dystrophy.

Annals of Dermatology 1992;4(1):37-40
A case of Maffucci's syndrome is reported in a 6-year-old girl. She had multiple enchondromas of the long bones and the phalangeal bones with hemangiomatous skin lesions. The hemangiomas were the capillary type and were not anatomically related to the bone lesions.
