PURPOSE: To evaluate clinical features and therapeutic modality of conjunctival nevi in Korean patients. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed on 197 patients (75 males and 122 females) with nevi who were diagnosed by slit lamp examination from 1997 to 2008. RESULTS: Nevi occurred most commonly on bulbar conjunctiva (88%), followed by caruncle and plica semilunaris (7%). The nevi involved temporal (71%), nasal (21%), inferior (2.8%) and superior (0.7%) quadrants of the conjunctiva. The mean horizontal length was 4.3+/-2.0 mm and the mean vertical 4.45+/-2.2 mm. Thirty-five patients (7.8%) received no treatment. Excisional biopsy was performed in 38 patients (19.3%). Argon laser photoablation of conjunctiva nevi was performed in 124 patients (62.9%). CONCLUSIONS: The pattern of conjunctival nevi in Korean patients was similar to Caucasian patients. The biopsy was performed according to appropriate guidelines however, nevus which does not require a biopsy, could be treated by argon laser photoablation.

2.Clinical feature of unintended thin corneal flap in LASIK: 1-year follow-up.
Korean Journal of Ophthalmology 2002;16(2):63-69
To purpose of this study was to evaluate complications of unintended thin corneal flap in laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), such as visual acuity and myopic regression, at the one year follow-up. We performed a study on 54 eyes, i.e. 27 patients, having LASIK. The eyes were split into two groups, group one, 27 eyes with unintended thin corneal flap with a thickness of 100 microm or less, and as a control group, 27 eyes with a thickness of 110 microm or more. The average corneal flap thicknesses of the two groups were 88.89 +/- 8.07 microm and 132.70 +/- 19.58 microm, respectively. With regard to postoperative complications, there were no statistical differences between the groups for: foreign bodies in aspects of the interface, mild peripheral infiltration, superficial punctuate keratitis, myopic regression and decreased vision. The only complication showing any statistical difference between the two groups was the central corneal opacity. An unintended thin corneal flap, with an intact Bowman's layer, induced no significant postoperative complications. Central corneal opacity was apparent in 4 of the eyes in group one, so may be related with a thin corneal flap.

PURPOSE: To compare optic disc measurements between computer-aided morphometry and Heidelberg Retina Tomograph (HRT). METHODS: For 59 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma and 9 subjects with ocular hypertension, measurements of the optic disc area and neuroretinal rim area were obtained using our computer-aided morphometric techniques and the HRT. RESULTS: The mean optic disc areas measured with the HRT was smaller than those with the computer-aided techniques (p=0.02). Rim area and rim area to disc area were significantly (p
