Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 2006;18(4):553-563
PURPOSE: This study was conducted, on the basis of the Theory of Planned Behavior to analyze factors influencing on undergraduate students' sexual behavior and to provide basic guidelines for the intervention of promoting sex education in school. METHOD: The participants of this study consisted of 284 under-graduate students at 3 colleges and 3 universities in Seoul. SPSS 10.0 win program was used and descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, multiple regression and logistic regression were used to evaluate the influencing factors on undergraduate students' sexual behavior. RESULTS: The results of this study can be summarized as follows; For undergraduate students, perceived behavioral control, and attitude of sexual behavior could explain 43% of the variance in intention of sexual behavior. However, subjective norm didn't influence sexual behavioral intention. For undergraduate students, perceived behavioral control, sexual behavioral intention were factors influencing sexual behavior, and these factors could explain 43% of the variance in sexual behavior. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, the interventive sex education that is upright and healthy will be needed to strengthen perceived behavioral control and sexual behavioral intention as influencing factors on sexual behavior in adolescent and young adults.

Journal of Veterinary Science 2001;2(2):115-120
This paper describes the cloning and sequence analysis of the cDNAs encoding the canine homologues of interleukin-3 (IL-3) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). The coding sequences for canine IL-3 and IL-6 were obtained by using the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) with RNA harvested from canine peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Canine IL-3 cDNA includes a single open reading frame of 432 nucleotides, which encodes a 143 amino acid polypeptide and has 44.7, 42.4, 37 and 23.7% homology with the cow, sheep, human and rat IL-3 sequences, respectively. Canine IL-6 cDNA (GenBank accession number; AF275796) encodes a putative 20-amino acid signal peptide followed by a 187-amino acid mature protein. The predicted amino acid sequence of canine IL-6 shares 60.4, 77.2, 71.0, 55.8 and 42.0% sequence identity with those of human, feline, porcine, sheep and rat IL-6, respectively.

The Korean Journal of Parasitology 2005;43(2):57-60
As gastroduodenoscopy performed more frequently, case reports of human echinostomiasis are increasing in Korea. A Korean woman presented at a local clinic with complaints of abdominal pain and discomfort that had persisted for 2 weeks. Under gastroduodenoscopy, two motile flukes were found attached on the duodenal bulb, and retrieved with endoscopic forceps. She had history of eating raw frog meat. The two flukes were identified as Echinostoma hortense by egg morphology, 27 collar spines with 4 end-group spines, and surface ultrastructural characters. This report may prove frogs to be a source of human echinostome infections.

Korean Journal of Pathology 2000;34(12):1022-1024
Mesenteric lymphadenitis due to Yersinia enterocolitica infection is not common in Korea. Although most cases of Yersinia enterocolitica-induced mesenteric adenitis are self limited, cardinal features of Yersinia enterocolitica-induced mesenteric adenitis are so similar to those of acute appendicitis that some of the patients undergo laparotomy with suspected appendicitis. The findings on laparotomy in such patients are usually enlarged mesenteric nodes with a normal or slightly inflamed appendix. Because histologic examination of the removed mesenteric lymph nodes reveals reactive hyperplasia in most cases, it is usually difficult to suspect Yersinia enterocolitica infection on morphology of the resected nodes. But suppurative granulomata of mesenteric lymph nodes, uncommonly encountered in Yersinia enterocolitica infection, strongly suggest yersinial infection. We report a case of mesenteric lymphadenitis in a 10-year-old boy, who underwent laparotomy with suspected acute appendicitis. The removed lymph node showed several suppurative granulomata in the cortex, suggesting yersinial infection. Serologic study confirmed Yersinia enterocolitica serotype O:3 infection.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1991;25(2):158-163
Neurosarcoidosis without systemic manifestation is vary unusual condition. Solitary lesion in the spinal dura is exceptional. The diagnosis of the neurosarcoidosis is very difficult, because the efficacy of Kveim test is low in neurosarcoidosis. The histologic examination is considered as confirmative diagnostic tool. The authors reported a case of neurosarcoidosis involving the dura of the cervical spine, in a fifty-nine year old female who had suffered from mid-back pain for six months and paraparesis for two weeks. There was a dumbbell shaped mass in the D4-5 dura. It showed tan gray color with rubbery consistency. With histological examination, it revealed diffuse non-caseating granuloma. Occasionally asteroid bodies were observed within the cytoplasm of the multinucleated giant cells. After operation, she was treated with steroid, and she has been well about nine month period.

A 4 years and 8 months old girl had accidentally swallowed coins while playing on sofa. She immediately complained of a painful sensation in her throat and chest. Radiograph of the chest at a local clinic showed the coins located at the gastroesophageal junction. She was admitted to our hospital 24 hours after the accident, when her physical examinatioa was normal and the coins failed to be moved. One hour thereafter, two coins(500 won and 50 won) were dislodged from the gastroesophageal junction witb biopsy forceps:on gastroendoscope (Olympus GIF-Q10). The following day, she was discharged without complicaitions.

Hyeon-Young KIM ; Sun Hwa SHIN
Journal of Korean Academy of Fundamental Nursing 2020;27(2):129-140
Purpose:
In order to implement effective nursing interventions in operative procedures, it is necessary to understand the patients' care requirements. The aim of this study was to investigate the operating room experiences of patients with breast cancer.
Methods:
The study was conducted from November 15, to December 28, 2018. Participants were recruited through an objective sampling method and included eight women who had undergone breast cancer surgery within the last 10 years. Interviews were conducted with the participants until no new data were obtained. Qualitative data were analyzed using the 6-stage phenomenological analysis method of Colaizzi.
Results:
Three categories were identified across 18 themes and 8 theme clusters. For the category “before entering the operating room”, participants experienced crossing the threshold of death, mixed feelings of regret and resentment, and discomfort due to the gaze of unfamiliar people. With regard to “when entering the operating room”, participants experienced uneasiness owing to the cold environment and the medical procedures. However, they felt comforted with the attentiveness of the medical staff. Finally, regarding the category “after leaving the operating room”, participants experienced a sense of relief that the cancer cells were removed but expressed distress concerning the obstacles in follow-up care.
Conclusion
The results indicate the necessity of understanding the experiences of breast cancer patients undergoing surgery and developing effective nursing interventions for these patients.
10.Difference between before and after Compensating for Cyclotorsion by Optical Coherence Tomography Guided Progression Analysis
Jeong Hwa SHIN ; Young Hoon HWANG
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2022;63(9):762-768
Purpose:
This study evaluated the difference in parameters before and after the application of optical coherence tomography (OCT) Guided Progression Analysis (GPA) to compensate for cyclotorsion during image acquisition.
Methods:
Among glaucomatous eyes with ≥4 OCT tests, eyes with correction for cyclotorsion in GPA printouts defined as rotated OCT fundus images were included. The degree of cyclotorsion (i.e., the degree of fundus image rotation), direction of cyclotorsion (incyclotorsion or excyclotorsion), difference in optic nerve head (ONH) parameters, and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness before and after correction were analyzed.
Results:
Correction for cyclotorsion was seen in 33 of the 401 eyes (12.2%). Incyclotorsion was observed in 16 eyes (48.5%) and excyclotorsion in 17 (51.5%). The mean degree of cyclotorsion was 5.5 ± 2.3 degrees. The ONH parameters were unchanged after correcting for cyclotorsion. The mean overall, inferior, and superior quadrant RNFL thicknesses were 73.6 ± 14.8, 79.3 ± 26.3, and 90.1 ± 24.7 μm before correction and 73.6 ± 14.9, 79.6 ± 26.6, 89.7 ± 24.8 μm afterwards (p > 0.05). The difference in RNFL thickness after correction ranged from 0 to 6 μm.
Conclusions
The difference in RNFL thickness before and after cyclotorsion correction by GPA was not large. GPA did not correct the ONH parameters induced by cyclotorsion. Regarding this, GPA algorithm improvements may be needed.
