2.Preliminary study on chemical components and pharmacological effects of Loranthus parasiticus (L.) Merr
Pharmaceutical Journal 2002;318(10):12-15
Loranthus parasiticus (L.) Merr. Loranthaceae (Vietnamese name is Tang ky sinh) was a traditional medicinal herb for treatment of back pain, hypertension, lack of sleep, etc. The chemical analysis confirmed the Loranthus parasiticus (L.) Merr. extract contained flavonoids, adjuvant heart glycosides, antraglycosids, tannin pyrocatechics and organic acids. Total flavonoid content was 0.57%. The pharmacological experiments in mice, dogs, isolated ears and isolated ileum of rabbits have revealed that the Loranthus parasiticus (L.) Merr. extract had antihypertensive, sedative and vasodilator effects. In addition, Loranthus parasiticus (L.) Merr. decrease ileum's mobility of rabbits and had a low acute toxicity

3.Study on clinical, paraclinical characteristics and treatment of coagulation disorder on patients with septic shock
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;515(7):15-17
Prospective study was carried out on 30 septic shock patients admitted to the emergency and intensive care unit of Bach Mai hospital from March 2004 to November 2004. Results: coagulation disorder rate accounted for 93.3% of patients including 50% with DIC (disseminated intravascular coagulation) and 43.3% with another coagulation disorders. Patients with DIC had a significant higher rates of multiple organs failure and mortality as compared without DIC (87% and 73.3% vs. 67% and 53.3%, respectively). DIC contributed to multiple organ failure and increase mortality rate. Management of coagulation disorder included replace therapy of fresh plasma (90%) and platelet block (30%) with a dose lower than recommended. Results of coagulation tests after treatment were likely to improve but not yet significantly.

4.Diagnosis of the fetal congenital malformations by screening sonography and clinical treatment for these fetal congenital malformations at Ob-Gyn Department of Bachmai Hospital
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;503(2):10-13
From 1/1999 to 9/2004, 12720 pregnancies were examined and underwent ultrasound in Ob-Gyn Deparment of Bachmai Hospital and 64 fetuses were found with congenital malformations. The fetal malformations rate was 0.5%. Fetal malformations were detected mainly at primipa. Youngest fetal age was 12 weeks. Mean fetal age when detecting malformations was 22.8 weeks. Single malformation was 68.8%. The most common defects were anecephaly (23.4%), hydrocephaly (20.3%), holoprosencephaly (12.5%). 73.4% of pregnancies with malformation fetuses were terminated successfully by putting Cytotec to cause labour. One case was operated and one was aborted after putting cytotec failed. Failure rate of causing labour by Cytotec was 4%

5.Remarks on the results of mentocervical angle reconstruction in 100 cases with contractile scars on faciocervical area
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;512(5):46-49
Study on 100 patients with contractile scars on faciocervical area treated in Central Military Hospital No.108 from January 1995 to January 2004. The subjects were divided into groups with different mentocervical angle reconstruction methods such as using local flaps, skin graft or fasciocutaneous flaps. The results: the scars on faciocervical area often changed mentocervical angle, which affected greatly to aestheticism and function. The reconstruction of mentocervical angle needed to base on lesion’s levels to find out an appropriate treatment. The best results was achieved by using local flaps, however, it was only suitable for small lesions, less cervical deformations. Using skin graft and fasciocutaneous flaps was applied for serious lesions and could still make a rather standard mentocervical angle .

6.Laparoscopic approach in the management of acute appendicular peritonitis in the Central General Hospital of Tien Giang
Ho Chi Minh city Medical Association 2005;10(4):203-205
Retrospective study on 163 cases of appendicular peritonitis, which were diagnosed and treated with laparoscopic appendectomy in the Central General Hospital of Tien Giang from January 2003 to June 2004. Results: the accuracy of laparoscopic diagnosis was 100% and complete laparoscopic management was achieved in 99.3%. The mean operating time was 45 minutes. The mean hospital stay was 5.08 days. Wound infection rate was 1.22%. Intra-abdominal infection: 0%. Mortality: 0%. Malignant hypercapnia or postoperative sepsis shock were not found in this study. There were no bowel obstructions or incisional hernias with a mean follow-up of 12 months. The laparoscopic treatment of appendicular peritonitis is effective, safe and beneficial for patients, without any specific complications. It may be performed routinely by experienced laparoscopic surgeons

7.Inward malfomation of elbow and its surgical treatment in children
Journal of Practical Medicine 2003;425(5):8-10
Study was performed on 48 subjects with inward deformity of elbow after a supracordylar fraction on the arm, form January 1999 to June 2002 at the Department of Surgery, National Institute of Pediatry. Results showed that this deformity was occurred commonly in children of 6-11 years old of age, especially in boys. Humeral ostectomy was indicated in the case of deformity of cubitus varus of > 15o and > 6 months after the trauma. The opening of the lower end of brachial bone and the campbell classical technique of excison of the muscle did not mineralize did not limit the motions of the joints of elbow. Kirschner screw was fixed temporarily and removed 12-14 days after the operation

9.Clinical and histological features in 11 cases of castlemen
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 2002;227(10):56-60
Castlemen disease is a lymphoproliferative disorder of unknown etiology, was first described as a distinct entity by Castlemen et al in 1956. The disease has two clinical (localized and multicentric) and two histopathological forms (hyalinevascular and plasma cell). This disease is usually, clinically misunderstood as lymphoma, carcinoma metastatic-lymph nodes, or tuberculosis. We, therefore, represent clinicopathological findings of 11 cases of Castlemen disease seen in Hanoi K Hospital. Results: Most patients are women (F:M=4.5:1), age ranges from 15-52 year old with average is 33. The affected nodes are often enlarged (3cm in 63.6%). Localized form is prominent with proportion of 63.6%. The treatment is still problematic, but complete surgical excision is the treatment of choice for localized form and is generally curative.

10.Remarks on the surgical techniques for treating deltoid fibrosis
Journal of Surgery 2007;57(3):26-32
Background: Deltoid fibrosis is caused by congenital disorder or complication of intramuscular injection or trauma, and can affect aesthetics and functions of shoulders. Objectives: To remark on the risk factors and pathology of deltoid fibrosis, and to evaluate the results of surgical procedure. Subjects and method: This clinical study involved 156 patients with 281 shoulder joints were surgically treated at National Hospital of Pediatrics from August 1994 to June 2005. All patients were physical and radiological examinations, and surgically treated by 1 of 4 techniques. Postoperative outcomes were evaluated. Results and Conclusion: Of 156 patients, there were 72 male and 84 female children, 62.8% in age group of 11-15 years old, and 29.5% over 15 years old. Severity of deltoid fibrosis was: severe in 95.4% of shoulder joints, moderate: 4.6%, and mild: 0%. 12.2% patients experienced deltoid fibrosis in combination with fibrosis of another muscles. The postoperative outcomes included; good: 92.5% of shoulder joints, moderate: 2.9% and bad: 4.6%. Type IV technique give best results (99%).
