Hyperthermia therapy employs artificial heat to treat malignant tumors. Hyperthermia uses a variety of physical energy to produce thermal effects in the body tissue. Hyperthermia elevates the temperature of tumor tissues to a certain degree and makes it maintained for a certain period of time to kill cancer cells and prevent normal cells from damage. Compared with other conventional therapy, hyperthermia has its special advantages and has become one of the novel comprehensive medical treatments for cancer therapy. This paper briefly reviews the action mechanism on hyperthermia against tumors and its clinical application in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancer.

Objective To establish criteria for determination of sputum retention in elderly patients with non-ar-tificial airway. Methods Interview and Delphi methods were used to preliminarily determine clinical indication of sputum retentionand its classification through two-round expert consultation among 25 experts. Final criteria for de-termination of sputum retention were determined through experts group discussion. Results During the two rounds of consultation,all the questionnaires were collected,the experts' authority coefficients were 0.936 and 0.926 respec-tively,and the coordination coefficient of expert opinion was statistically significant.Criteria for determination of spu-tum retention included ineffective cough plus auscultation phlegm sound,with or without complaining of sputum,de-creased blood oxygen saturation,difficulty breathing and cyanosis. Conclusion Based on expert consultation and ar-gument,the criteria for determination of sputum retention can facilitate clinical nurses to detect sputum retention.

Objective Extracting high content of DHA, EPA from rude fish oil. Methods Extracting fish oil ethyl ester with silver nitrate-water method. Results With silver nitrate-water method extracting three kinds of products from rude fish oil were gained(1) The total content of EPA and DHA mixture was higher than 95%. (2) The content of DHA was higher than 95%. (3) The content of EPA was higher than DHA. Conclusion The researching technology may reduce the production cost of high content of EPA and DHA. The method researched can increase the stabilities of DHA, EPA, and decrease the side effects of the products.

Objective To investigate the relationships of peroxisome proliferators activated receptor ?(PPAR?) and matrix metallo protease-7 ( MMP-7) with gastric cancer ( including low and high grade atypical hyperplasia). Methods One hundred and twenty gastric tissue specimens (four groups) were collected by gastroscopy or surgical operation, including 31 patients with chronic gastritis, 25 patients with low-grade atypical hyperplasia, 27 patients with high-grade atypical hyperplasia, and 28 patients with gastric cancer. The expression of PPAR? and MMP-7 were observed by immunohistochemical technique and analyzed by statistic methods. Results Both of them have high expression in the groups of gastric cancer respectively, and the high combined expressions of them were found in gastric cancer and high-grade atypical hyperplasia. Conclusion PPAR? and MMP-7 were the important differential signs of the gastric cancer and precancer by inference, the combined expression of PPAR? and MMP-7 was the evidences in differential diagnosis among gastric cancer, high and low grade atypical hyperplasia and gastritis.

Objective To explore the effect of sex difference on learning and memory function and the brain tissue damage of neonatal SD rats with hypoxic-ischemic brain damage.Methods Sixty,7-day-old neonatal Sprague-Dawley rats,were divided into randomly:male control group (M group,n=15),female control group (F group,n=15),male hypoxic-ischemic brain damage group (MHIBD group,n=15) and female hypoxic-ischemic brain damage group (FHIBD group,n=15).A modified newborn rat model that had a combined hypoxic-ischemic brain damage as described by Rice-Vannucci was used.The Morris water maze was used to evaluate the ability of learning and memory.The brain MRI and transmission electron microscope(TEM) was used to evaluate the scope of brain tissue damage and the change of the synaptic ultrastructure.Results There were no differences in swimming distance,escape latency,synaptic cleft and damage brain volume between M group and F group(P＞0.05).Compare with M group and F group,MHIBD group and FHIBD group showed significant brain injury,longer escape latency ((39.38±11.40) s vs (14.86±4.42) s,(30.14±7.18)s vs (18.41±5.03) s),longer swimming distance ((15.31± 1.77) cm vs (3.68±1.50) cm,(13.18±1.79) cm vs (4.61±1.61) cm),and TEM showed the synaptic cleft was widened ((23.18± 1.36) nm vs (19.24± 1.51) nm,(21.40± 1.71) nm vs (19.87±0.94) nm),P＜0.05).MHIBD group was more seriously compromised than the FHIBD group(P＜0.05).The brain MRI showed the damage brain volume of MHIBD group were significantly larger than FHIBD group(P＜0.05).Conclusion After bypoxic ischemic brain damage,the tolerance of brain damage and / or post-injury recovery capabilities of female rats are stronger than males.

Objective To explore the differences of bacterial culture results and time consumption between the two methods of holding the syringes to draw physic liquors,so as to find the objective and scientific evidences to raise the efficiency of the clinical nursing work and to ensure the medication safety at the same time. Methods Making bacterial cultures for the physic liquors respectively drawn by grasping the piston of syringes (30 cases in the experimental group) and grasping the piston holder of syringes(30cases in the control group).Recorded the time consumption by grasping the piston of syringes to draw the physic liquors (the experimental group) and grasping the piston holder of syringes to draw the physic liquors (the control group).The testing results were compared between the two groups. Results Bacterial cultures:There was no bacteria growth in both groups.Timing:The time spent by grasping the piston of syringes to draw physic liquors was obviously shorter than that by grasping the piston holder of syninges to draw physic liquors. Conclusions Grasping the piston of syringes to draw physic liquors can ensure the medication safety and raise the work efficiency.

Objective To investigate the indication, feasibility and technique of minimally invasive nuss procedure with thoracoscope by using double braces in the treatment of wide-scope pectus excavatum repairing in adolescence. Methods 31 patients including 24 boys and 7 girls, suffered from pectus excavtum were corrected by nuss procedure under thoracoscope.The average age was (15.32 ± 3.89)years (ranged, 14 years and 18 years). All cases were moderate to severe degree according to Hallar index with depression scope of 4 ribs or more. A couple of braces of two-point or multipoint fixation for thoracoscopic-assisted nuss procedure were used. Results The procedure was successfully completed under thoracoscopy in all patients. Double braces were utilized in 27 cases, double are bars were required in 4 cases, and multipoint fixations were in 6 patients. The postoperative hospital stay was 5-11 days [average, ( 7.48 ± 1.95 ) days]. The duration of following up was one month to three years. The perioperative complications included intraoperative hemorrhage in 2 patients, bar invertion with displacement in 1, and interrupted pain for two months in 1. All patients recovered after expectant treatment. Conclusion Nuss procedure with double braces for the correction of a large area of asymmetric pectus excavatum under thoracoscopy is safe and effective technique for adolescence.

Objective To assess the clinical value of volume helical shuttle (VHS) of highdefinition CT (HDCT) in the diagnosis of congenital heart disease (CHD).Methods Forty-three patients suffering from CHD were examined with VHS of HDCT and echocardiography (ECHO).Twenty-four patients (21 children,3 adults) received surgery.Based on surgical data,the diagnostic accuracy of CHD by VHS of HDCT was compared with that by ECHO with respect to the intra-cardiac lesion,extra-cardiac lesion and hemodynamics.The visibility of the origin and proximal course of coronary arteries was also evaluated on VHS.CT effective doses were calculated,using mSv =DLP × K. Results Thirty-six intra-cardiac deformities were found by operation,and the diagnostic accuracy of both VSH and ECHO were 100.0％ (36/36).VHS successfully detected 42 of 44 (95.4％) cardiac-vascular connection and large vascular deformities,whereas ECHO only detected 26 (59.1％ ).The right-to-left shunt and left-to-right shunt of septal defects revealed by VHS were 5 and 6 patients respectively,which all coincided with the results of ECHO.Fourteen bi-directional shunt of septal defects were detected by ECHO,and 13 of them were diagnosed as right-to-left shunt by HDCT except an illegibility in 1 patient.The origin and proximal course of coronary arteries were all visible on VHS.Effective dose for children was (3.38 ± 1.86) mSv,and for adults was ( 10.27 ± 2.59) mSv.Conclusions VHS of HDCT scan is advantageous in the diagnosis of CHD.It can depict the intra- and extra- cardiac structures as well as coronary arteries and provide hemodynamic information.

Objective To study the PTV by ng 4DCT and compare target,target displacement and dose distribution of 3D and 4D planning for thoracic middle or lower esophageal cancer,evaluate the clinical value of 4DCT in esophageal cancer radiotherapy.Methods From Jan to Dec 2012patients with primary esophageal cancer underwent 3DCT simulation scans first,then followed by 4DCT simulation scan.PTV and OARs were sketched in the ordinary 3DCT and 4DCT respectively.And designing two sets of radiotherapy plan for each patient:3D and 4D plan.We compare PTV,PTV displacement and OARs dosimetry's differences in the 3D plan and 4D plan.Using the paired t-test or Wilcoxon sign-rank test to compare the difference between the two sets of plans.Results The volume of PTV4D was larger than the PTV3D (195.19 cm3 vs.175.67 cm3,P =0.001) in all patients.The center displacement had only significantly difference (displacement was 0.25 cm,P =0.014) in left-right direction for 10 patients of thoracic middle esophageal cancer.The center displacement had no significantly different in the three direction for 9 patients of thoracic under esophageal cancer (P=0.722,0.307,0.208).The dose target area of V100,V95 and V90 in Plan3DC were significantly than those in Plan-3D for 19 patients of thoracic middle-lower esophageal cancer (88.62％ vs.95.69％,P=0.000;95.17％ vs.99.79％,P=0.001;97.19％ vs.99.99％,P=0.001).In 4D plan the lung V5,V20 and Dmean of heart were higher than that in 3D plan for all patients (39.49％vs.37.44％,P=0.016;19.93％ vs.18.87％,P=0.018 and 2607.74 cGy vs.2389.16 cGy,P=0.004).Conclusions 4DCT positioning technology can accuracy determine individualized expanding boundary by target area of radiotherapy for thoracic middle or lower esophageal cancer.The enlarging target volume increase the dose of radiotherapy for lung,and in the dose range in the 4D plan,but the increased dose of heart should be noted.

Objective To analyze the treatment efficacy and safety of a modified GMALL protocol for adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Methods Data of 37 patients with newly diagnosed adult ALL treated with a modified GMALL protocol from January 2005 to December 2009 were retrospectively analyzed,and compared with that of 44 patients treated with an in-house conventional protocol at the same period.Results The complete remission (CR) rate was 89.2 %(33/37) treated with modified GMALL protocol. The cumulative overall survival (OS) rates at 1 year, 2 years, 3 years and 4 years were 77.5 %, 48.0 %, 40.0 %and 40.0 %, respectively. The main adverse events were grade 3 or grade 4 hematological toxicities and infections which were easily managed, and the treatment-related mortality rate was low. The OS of modified GMALL protocol was superior to that of the conventional protocol. Conclusion The modified GMALL protocol has a satisfying effect and the adverse events can be tolerated for adult ALL, so its clinical application can be encouraged.
