Objective To examine the levels of serum adipunectin (ADPN)in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), and identify the relationship between serum ADPN and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) and renal function. Methods Sixty ESRD patients and twenty normal healthy persons were involved in this study. The patients were divided into three groups: patients with chronic renal failure (CRF, 18 cases), patients with hemodialysis (HD,22 cases) and patients with peritoneal dialysis (PD,20 cases). The levels of serum ADPN, TNF-α and hs-CRP were detected by means of ELISA. Differences in continuous variables be-tween the three groups were evaluated. Results The levels of serum ADPN, TNF-α and hs-CRP in CRF, HD and PD patients were signifi-cantly higher than those in control group ( P<0.01 ). Serum ADPN levels in ESRD patients were positive related to serum TNF-α( r≥0.478, P<0.01 ), and negative related to GFR ( r≥-0.582, P<0.01 ). Conclusion The level of serum ADPN was markedly in-creased in patients with ESRD, and correlated with serum TNF-α level and.renal function.

Objective To explore the effects and mechanism of implantation of umbilical blood mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)on rats with cerebral infarction. Methods Umbilical blood MSCs were cultured in vivo, flow cytometry was ap-plied to test cytometric immunophenotype, and model of rat cerebral infarction was made by suture method; 120 rats were randomly assigned to MSCs implantation group and control group; rats' neurological function was evaluated;western-blot was applied to test the expression of GFAP protein. Fluorescence microscope was applied to observe changes of hippocampal formation in rats as well as the distribution of MSCs in rats' brain. Results According to the test of neurological function, the score of neurological function in the experiment group was reduced, and the score in the control group was improved. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Expression of GFAP in MSCs im-plantation group was increased with a peak in the 7th day, while no significant changes in the control group(P<0.05). According to the observation of immunofluorescence microscopy, the distribution of MSCs in rats' brain was good in MSCs implantation group, and the hippocampal formation showed clear layers in the experiment group. Hippocampal structures in the control group were chaotic, and synapses and organelles were dissolved and compromised. Conclu-sion MSCs are able to promote the repair of hippocampal structures after cerebral infarction in rats, strengthen neuro-plasticity and promote the recovery of neurological functions.

Objective:To explore the application of ArcCheck system in the validation of Helical and Direct tomotherapy plans for esophageal cancer and summarize relevant experience. Methods:The Helical and Direct tomotherapy verification plans were established for 32 patients with esophageal cancer at different positions according to the doctor′s instructions, which were verified by the ArcCHECK system to compare the passing rate of the results. The correlation between the volume of the target area and the passing rate of the planned verification was analyzed. The therapeutic verification plan with a small target volume was made. The target area was placed at the center of ArcCHECK phantom and the area of detectors to statistically compare the verification passing rates. Results:Helical plan showed a significantly higher passing rate than the Direct plan ( P<0.01). The correlation coefficients between the target volume and the passing rate of the Helical and Direct plans were -0.364 and -0.042, and the P values were 0.041 and 0.819, respectively. For the Helical plan, when the 3%/2mm criterion was adopted, there was significant difference between placing the high-dose area at the center of the phantom and the area of detectors ( P=0.005), and the passing rate of the latter was higher. There was no significant difference in the other cases (all P>0.05). Conclusions:The passing rate of the Helical plan is generally higher than that of the Direct plan, which may be related to the angular response of the ArcCHECK detector and the fact that more reference points are not included for calculation due to low-dose radiation. In addition, it may also be related to the higher requirements of Direct plan for tomotherapy dose control system. In the Helical verification plan, when the 3%/3mm criterion is adopted, the larger the target volume, the higher the possibility of lower passing rate, whereas the correlation coefficient between them is relatively low. The high-dose area can be verified by the plans at the center of the phantom or the detection point. With the comprehensive consideration, we suggest putting it at the center of the phantom.
