Object To determine the content of resveratrol glucoside and resveratrol in radix and rhizome of Polygonum cuspidatum Sieb. et Zucc. yielded in Hanzhong Region. Methods The HPLC method was used to assay resveratrol glucoside and resveratrol directly, using Eclipse XDB C 8 column and acetonitrile water as the mobile phase, the UV detection wavelength was 303 nm, with a flow rate of 1 mL/min. Results The content of resveratrol glucoside was 2 5% and resveratrol was 0 43% in the radix and rhizome. Conclusion The content of resveratrol glucoside is higher than that in the former refernece. The content of resveratrol in the radix and rhizome of P. cuspidatum in Hanzhong Region is first reported.

This study was aimed to determine effect of Bu-Shen Kang-Shuai (BSKS) Tablet on HO-1 mRNA and its associated oxidative stress levels among atherosclerotic rabbits. A total of 56 rabbits were randomly divided into the normal group (8 rabbits) and the experimental group (48 rabbits). Normal diet was given to the normal group. Atherosclerotic rabbits models were established in the experimental group. At the eighth week, rabblits in the experi-mental group were randomly divided into the model group, BSKS Tablet group and simvastatin group. Blood samples were collected before medication, 8-, 12-, 16-week after medication from rabbits of each group. Rabbits were sacri-ficed under aseptic conditions at the last blood collection. Expressions of aortic HO-1 mRNA and PPARα mRNA were measured by Q-PCR method. The level of MMP-9 was measured by immunohistochemical assay. Serum HbCO, COX-2 activity and cGMP level were measured by ELISA assay. The results showed that after the intervention of BSKS Tablet, serum HbCO level decreasd, cGMP was obviously increased. However, there was no obvious change on the COX-2 activity. The immunohistochemical assay showed that BSKS Tablet obviously reduced MMP-9 level of rabbits. There was only small amount of aortic HO-1 mRNA expression in the normal group. However, the expres-sion of aortic HO-1 mRNA in the atherosclerosis group was increased. After intervention of BSKS Tablet, the ex-pression of HO-1 mRNA was increased with statistical significance (P < 0.05). Simvastatin had similar antioxidant effect. It was concluded that the compound preparation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) BSKS Tablets had an important antioxidant effect in treatment of atherosclerosis. Its protective mechanism may be through the regulation of HO-1 mRNA gene expression and effects of HO-1/CO-cGMP pathway activities of related enzymes while peroxida-tion stability of atherosclerotic plaque.

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) technique used in karyotype analysis of chorionic villi from missed abortion. Methods Feb 2008 to Oct 2008, 91 patients with missed abortion diagnosed by hormonal measurement, type B ultrasound and physical exam matched with 20 normal pregnant women undergoing artificial abortion were enrolled in this study. Chorionic villi was obtained by suction dilation and curettage in aseptic condition, then those villi was cultured and analyzed by traditional cytogenetic karyotyping method, in the mean time, the DNA extracted from villi was detected by MLPA. The results of chromosomal G-banding of chorionic villi were compared between two methods. Results The diagnostic concordance of MLPA and traditional karyotyping was observed in 92% (84/91) cases, there were 84 cases in the case group with diagnostic concordance by traditional karyotyping and MLPA except 7 cases of euploidy could not be detected by MLPA. The 84 cases included 40 normal karyotype,29 trisomy of euchromosome, 1 double trisomy of euchromosome, 10 monosomy X , 1 monosomy X combined with trisomy of euchromosome, 2 chimaera of X chromosome, 1 structural abnormity of euchromosome. Among 7 cases with discordance diagnosis, 2 cases with trisomy and 5 cases with tetrasomy of euchromosome were identified in traditional karyotyping, however, they were all diagnosed with normal disomy by MLPA. Of 20 villi from normal pregnancy, two methods got the consistent results. Conclusion The MLPA was rapid and efficacy method used for analyzing aneuploids in chorionic villi.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of β-catenin and drug-resistance mechanism of choriocarcinoma according to the expression of β-catenin in JEG-3 cells (human choriocarcinoma cell line) and drug resistant JEG-3/VP16 cells.Methods The mRNA and protein expressions of β-catenin were analyzed with reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) and Western blotting.Flow cytometry was used to determine the percentages of β-catenin-positive cells in the two choriocarcinoma cell lines.Results Both drug resistant choriocarcinoma cells and drag sensitive cells were found to express β-catenin; but the expression of β-catenin mRNA (1.43 ±0.24) and protein(1.49 ±0.17)in drug resistant choriocarcinoma cells was found much higher than that in drug sensitive cells(0.65 ±0.14,0.66 ±0.16,P ＜0.01).And according to detect by flow cytometry,we found the number of β-catenin-positive cells in JEG-3/VP16 cells [(40.13 ±5.17) ％] was much more than that in JEG-3 cells [(13.15 ± 1.48) ％,P ＜ 0.01].Conclusions β-catenin was highly expressed in the drug resistant choriocarcinoma cell line (JEG-3/VP16).It indicates β-catenin might be involved in the drug resistance mechanism of choriocareinoma.

Objective To investigate the influencing factors on serum homocysteine level in healthy retired-elderly people in Tianjin,in order to provide theoretical basis and guidance for clinical intervention therapy.Methods A total of 184 participants meeting the standard of Chinese healthy elderly people (2013) were selected from 1247 retired-elderly people who took healthy physical examination in three grade Ⅲ-A hospitals in Tianjin from June to August in 2014.They were divided into two groups based on plasma Hcy level:hyper-homocystinemia group (≥15 μmol/L) and normal plasma Hcy level group (＜15μmol/L).The influencing factors on plasma Hcy level were analyzed by multiple stepwise regression and logistic regression analysis.Results The proportion of healthy retired-elderly people accounted for 14.76 ％,with men at 82.61％ and women at 17.39 ％,mean age (78.37±6.88) years.The Hcy level was higher in healthy males than in healthy females [(16.90± 6.86) μmol/L vs.(12.89 ± 5.97) μmol/L,P＜0.005].The proportion of people with hyper-homocystinemia accounted for 45.65％,and the mean Hcy concentration was (21.39±6.98) μmol/L.The age of people with hyper-homocystinemia was higher than that with normal Hcy [(80.58±6.09) years vs.(76.56±7.04) years,P＜0.005].There were no statistically significant differences in blood pressure,lipid and blood glucose levels and the proportion of patients with coronary heart disease,hypertension,type 2 diabetes mellitus,gout,periodontitis and other diseases between the two groups (all P＞0.05).Spearman correlation analysis showed that the level of serum Hcy was positively correlated with serum uric acid levels (P=0.000).Multiple stepwise regression and logistic regression analysis showed that age,gender and serum uric acid level were risk factors for plasma Hcy level in healthy elderly people.Conclusions Age,gender and serum uric acid level are risk factors for serum Hey level in healthy elderly people.

Objective To understand the quality of sleeping in medical students, and provide a reference basis for designing sleep health management program for college students. Methods The survey was conducted at a medical college in Shanxi province with stratified random sampling and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scale. Totally 210 individuals were enrolled, 199 completed the questionnaire, with a response rate of 93.5%. SPSS 21.0 statistical software was used for data analysis. Descriptive statistical analysis was carried out for socio-demographic data. Independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance and non-parametric test were used to compare the scores of PSQI between participants. Multiple stepwise linear regression was used to determine influencing factors of sleep quality. Results The average score of PSQI for the 199 medical students interviewed was (6.74±2.42), the incidence of sleep disorder was 50.25%, the overall sleep quality was not high. Learning pressure of medical student had statistically significant in PSQI (Completely unmatched, 5.14 ± 2.32, Mostly unmatched, 5.93 ± 2.73, Mostly matched, 6.70 ± 2.42, Absolutely matched, 7.39 ± 2.10, F=3.366, P=0.020), employment pressure of medical students in PSQI (Completely unmatched, 6.50 ± 0.71, Mostly unmatched, 6.80 ± 3.24, Mostly matched, 5.98 ± 2.14, Absolutely matched, 7.14 ± 2.35, F=3.134, P=0.027). Grade (β=-0.172, P<0.05) and learning pressure (β=0.210, P<0.01) were the main influence factors for students. Conclusion Sleep quality of medical students was not high, upper grade was worse than low grade, the incidence of sleep disorder had increasing trend as learning pressure and degree of employment pressure worsen.

Objective To survey a prevalence of osteoporosis and prevalence of osteoporosis combined with hyponatremia in elderly hospitalized patients,and their risk factors.Methods We enrolled 2496 elderly hospitalized patients with detected plasma levels of sodium,calcium,25 (OH) D3,PTH,plasma PINP,and β-CTX.At the same time,sex,age,height,weight,smoking history,drinking history and BMI(kg/m2) in form of a questionnaire were recorded and calculated.The risk factors for osteoporosis were analyzed using multivariate Logistic regression method.Results The osteoporosis prevalence was 12.2％ (305/2496 inpatients)with 31.5 ％ (96/305)in male,68.5％ (209/305)in female(x2 =4.651,P=0.031).The prevalence of osteoporosis with hyponatremia was 27.5 ％ (84/305),with 24.8 ％ (21/84) in male and 75.2 ％ (63/84) in female(x2 =9.251,P=0.025).As compared with three groups of non-osteoporosis,normal serum Na+ with and without osteoporosis,the osteoporosis patients with hyponatremia were more aged,in a higher proportion of women and smokers,in lower BMI,and in low levels of serum sodium,BMD 25(OH)D3 (F=13.783,0.861,7.146,24.520,0.548,x2 =15.113、4.472;P =0.001,0.000,0.021,0.015,0.003,0.021,0.005).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that aging,female,low BMI,smoking history,drinking history,low plasma 25(OH)D3 level,low plasma PINP level,and high plasma β-CTX level were the risk factors for osteoporosis(OR 4.215,2.271,3.176,2.013,1.237,3.987,1.843,1.972;all P＜0.05).Conclusions The osteoporosis prevalence is high in elderly patients,especially in old women.The risk factors for osteoporosis are diverse,and clinical conditions of osteoporosis patients with hyponatremia are much more severe than the others.More efforts should be given to them and need to be focused on the complications of osteoporosis.

Objective To explore the effect Tiaoli-Qixue decoction on bleeding and coagulation during perioperative period of total hip arthroplasty (THA).Methods A total of 180 THA patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into three groups with 60 cases in each group.All patients underwent routine anti-infection treatment after unilateral THA through lateral hip approach.The patients took the Tiaoli-Qixue decoction 3 days before THA in the treatment group.The patients in the Xuesaitong control group received intravenous Xuesaitong on the day of operation and rivaroxaban tablets were administered orally on the day of operation in the westem medicine control group.The continuous medication was administered until 7 days after operation in three groups.The amount of hemorrhage and drainage after operation were recorded and the total amount of dominant hemorrhage was calculated.The Degao M4 semi-automatic hemagglutination instrument was used to detect plasma D-dimer level and observe thrombosis.Harris scale was used before and after operation to calculate the excellent and good rates of Harris score.Results The total amount of dominant hemorrhage (376.67 ± 61.44 ml vs.400.08 ± 61.16 ml,413.33 ± 53.76 ml,F=5.963),intraoperative hemorrhage (165.50 ± 15.67 ml vs.174.75 ± 14.68 ml,175.42 ± 11.13 ml,F=9.452) and postoperative drainage (211.17 ± 58.12 ml vs.225.33 ± 56.93 ml,237.92 ± 54.28 ml,F=3.370) in the treatment group of traditional Chinese medicine were significanlty less than those in the Xuesaitong control group and the Western medicine control group (P＜0.01 or P＜0.05).On the 7th day after operation,there were 6 cases of thrombosis in the treatment group of traditional Chinese medicine,4 cases in the Xuesaitong control group and 4 cases in the Western medicine control group.There was no significant difference between the three groups (x2=0.667,P=0.881).Six months after operation,the excellent and good rate of that the treatment group of traditional Chinese medicine was 45.0％ (27/60),which of the the Xuesaitong control group was 11.7％ (7/60),and which of the the Western medicine control group was 13.3％ (8/60).There was significant difference among the three groups.Conclusions The Tiaoli-Qixue decoction bleeding and coagulation can reduce the amount of dominant bleeding during perioperative period in patients with THA,and effectively prevent and treat deep venous thrombosis of lower limbs after THA.

Objective: To study the correlation between electronic screen use and myopia among primary and secondary school students in six provinces and cities in China, in order to provide a scientific basis for comprehensive prevention and control of myopia. Methods: From November 2020 to June 2022, a total of 16 557 primary and secondary school students from six provinces and cities in China (Beijing City, Liaoning Province, Zhejiang Province, Henan Province, Shaanxi Province, Chongqing City) were selected by stratified cluster random sampling and probability smampling methods, and a questionnaire prepared by Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention was used to investigate their electronic screen use. According to Screening Criteria for Myopia in Children and Adolescents, 0.5% mass concentration of compound topicamide eye drops was used to paralyze the ciliary muscle and undergo slit lamp optometry. Chisquare test was used to compare the differences between groups, and binary Logistic regression was used to analyze the association between electronic screen use and myopia. Results: About 58.3% of primary and secondary school students used electronic screens for more than two hours a day on average, and 63.4% of primary and secondary school students used continuously electronic products for more than 15 minutes at a time for nonstudy purposes. After adjusting for confounding factors, parents unrestricted use of electronic screen time and electronic screen time ≥2 h/d were positively correlated with myopia (OR=1.27, 1.13, P<0.05). Gender stratified analysis showed that boys who used electronic screen time ≥2 h/d had a higher risk of myopia (OR=1.15, P<0.05). The results of grade stratification analysis showed that parents unrestricted electronic screen use time and electronic screen time ≥2 h/d were positively correlated with myopia in the lower grade of primary school students (OR=1.34, 1.18, P<0.05). Among the higher grade of primary school students, continuous use of electronic screens for nonstudy purposes for more than 15 minutes at one time was positively correlated with myopia (OR=1.18, P<0.05). There was a multiplicative interaction between total screen time and one continuous screen time (OR=1.04, P<0.05). Conclusions Primary and secondary students in six provinces and cities in China reports excessive electronic screen usage which is associated with myopia. Schools and parents should jointly limit the use of electronic screen among primary and secondary students to reduce the occurrence of myopia.
