1.Traditional Chinese medicine and physical therapy on lumbar intervertebral disc herniation:clinical analysis of 86 cases
Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(06):-
Objective:Currently the treatment model of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation(LIDH) has changed from single surgical treatment to multisubjective comprehensive treatment. The purpose of this study was to observe the curative effect of synergic therapy with traditional Chinese medicine and physical therapy on LIDH.Methods:86 cases of LIDH treated with drawing, massage,Chinese herbal medicine injection and TDP radiation. Results:All the patients were followed for 1-7 months(mean 3 months).Convalescence 56 cases(65.1 %),effective 28 cases(32.6 %),no effect 2 cases(2.3 %),the total effective rate was 97.7%.Conclusion:The synergic therapy with traditional Chinese medicine and physical therapy was easy, safe and effective for LIDH.

Objective To investigate the value of the combined test of five tumor markers for gastric cancer diagnosis. Methods The electrochemical luminescence analyzer was used to measure the serum concentrations of CEA,CA125,CA199,CA724 and AFP in 127 gastric patients and 186 controls, and calculated the sensitivity and specificity. Results The concentrations of CEA (52.9 ±25.5)ng/mL,CA125 (54.2 ±40.6)U /mL,CA199 (42.4 ± 28.8)U /mL,CA724 (9.3 ±6.6)U /mL and AFP (22.6 ±11.4)ng/mL in the gastric cancer group were significantly higher than those in the controls, and the differences were statistically significant (t =6.006,7.118,6.033,6.683, 5.362,all P <0.05 ).The sensitivity in gastric cancer diagnosis with the combined test of five tumor markers (88.2%)was higher than the test of CEA (63.8%),CA125 (59.1%),CA199 (41.7%),CA724 (37.0%)and AFP (46.5%)alone,and the differences were statistically significant (χ2 =20.733,27.754,60.209,71.046, 50.270,all P <0.05).Moreover,the specificity in gastric cancer diagnosis with the combined test of five tumor markers (90.3%)was higher than the test of CA125 (79.3%),while lower than the test of CA724 (97.3%),and the differences were statistically significant (χ2 =9.137,7.832,all P <0.05).Conclusion The combined test of five tumor markers (CEA,CA125,CA199,CA724 and AFP)could increase the rate of gastric cancer diagnosis.

International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2017;39(4):326-332
Objectives Explore the experiences of professor Li Shunmin in treating chronic kidney diseases (CKD) according to spleen and kidney theory. Methods Information of medical records was acquired from Shenzhen TCM hospital information management department. It included the records from Jan, 2014 to Mar, 2016. Access database was established and SQL was used for data processing. Cytoscape 2.8 software was used to visualize the results and analyze the treatment characteristics in CKD.Results ProfessorLi used herbs of nourishing spleen and kidney to treat CKD. The herbs included Astragalus membranaceus, Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Rehmannia glutinosa and Gordon Euryale. The rules of treatment included invigorating spleen and kidney, and regulating liver and lung. The characteristics of using herbs included combination of cooling and warming herbs, bitter and pungent herbs, and sweet herbs for CKD.Conclusions Data mining could help to discover the rules of Li Shunmin in treating CKD. The results confirmed the academic attitude of treating CKD on spleen and kidney. It provided ideas and direction for CKD treatment.

Purpose:
Caspase recruitment domain containing protein 9 (CARD9) has been demonstrated to be a pro-tumor factor in various cancers. However, our previous study found a significant decrease of CARD9 in malignant pleural effusion compared with benign pleural effusion. So we investigated the role of CARD9 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and its working mechanism.
Materials and Methods:
Immunohistochemistry, western blot, and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction were used to detect the expression of CARD9 in specimens of NSCLC patients. The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) databasewas also used to analyze the expression of CARD9 in NSCLC and its predicting value for prognosis. Immunofluorescence was used for CARD9 cellular location. Cell growth assay, clonal formation assay, wound healing assay, matrigel invasion assay, and flow cytometry were used to test cell proliferation, migration, invasion, apoptosis, and cycle progression of NSCLC cells with CARD9 knockdown or CARD9 overexpression. Co-immunoprecipitation was used to identify the interaction between CARD9 and B-cell lymphoma 10 (BCL10). SB203580 was used to inhibit p38 activation.
Results:
CARD9 was decreased in NSCLC tissues compared with normal tissues; low CARD9 expression was associated with poor survival. CARD9 was expressed both in tumor cells and macrophages. Downregulation of CARD9 in NSCLC cells enhanced the abilities of proliferation, invasion and migration via activated MAPK/p38 signaling, while overexpression of CARD9 presented antitumor effects. BCL10 was identified to interact with CARD9.
Conclusion
We demonstrate that CARD9 is an independent prognostic factor in NSCLC patients and inhibits proliferation, migration, and invasion by suppressing MAPK/p38 pathway in NSCLC cells.
