Many researches have shown that atmosphere pollution and meteorological factors are related closely. The relations between the particle concentration in atmosphere and meteorological factors including wind speed, wind direction, air pressure, temperature, humidity, precipitation and atmosphere stability vary in different researches. Taking into consideration the complexity of meteorological factors and the components and concentration index of particles,it is more reasonable to do multi-factor analysis. But the results of multi-factor analysis also show obvious diversity and complexity due to different research objects, methods and measuring indexes. Therefore, different models for the prediction of particle concentration are needed for the factors such as area, time and meteorological conditions always change.

Thirty healthy women and 101 patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) were recruited. According to serum testosterone (T) level and homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) ,the correlation of T and body mass index (BMI) with insulin resistance was analyzed. The results showed that there were 39. 8% normal,24. 5% overweight, and 35.7% obese among 101 PCOS patients. However, there were no significantly differences in BMI, fasting plasma glucose ( FPG ), triglyceride ( TG ), total cholesterol ( TC), low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol ( LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol ( HDL-C ), and HOMA-IR levels between PCOS patients with hyperandrogenemia ( T ≥ 0. 51 μg/L) and normal androgenemia ( T < 0. 51 μg/L). BMI, FPG, TG, TC, and LDL-C levels were higher and HDL-C level was lower in patients with insulin resistance( HOMA-IR ≥ 2. 29 ) than in patients without insulin resistance ( HOMA-IR < 2. 29, P<0. 05 or P< 0. 01 ). Serum T levels were not significantly different between two groups. HOMA-IR was significantly correlated with BMI(P<0. 01 ), not with serum T, suggesting that the gain of body weight is correlated with insulin resistance independent of serum T level.

OBJECTIVE:To study the anti-oxidative effects of spirulina kinase (SPK) in vitro. METHODS:The methods of phenanthroine-Fe2+ oxidation method,DPPH and auto-oxidation of pyrogallol were used to measure the effects of different concen-trations of SPK on scavenging hydroxyl (OH-) free radical,DPPH free radical and superoxide anion (O2-) free radical;IC50 of SPK was calculated. Prussian blue reaction was used to determine total reducing ability(by absorbance)of different concentrations of SPK to Fe3+. Vitamin C(VC)was used as positive control in above trials. RESULTS:SPK could eliminate the OH-free radical, DPPH free radical and O2- free radical in concentration-dependant manner, and the maximum elimination rate of SPK to OH- free radical and DPPH free radical were 86.82% and 78.98%(IC50 were 54.31,0.636 g/L),which were higher than VC (64.77%, 73.49%). The maximum elimination rate of SPK to O2- free radical was 78.31%(IC50 was 3.918 g/L),which was lower than VC (94.14%). In reducing ability test,SPK improved absorbance in reducing ability test system, and maximum absorbance was simi-lar to VC in concentration-dependant manner. CONCLUSIONS:SPK has obvious anti-oxidant activities in vitro.

As an important human body sound signal, heart sound is of great value in the researches on diagnostics of heart diseases. This study sought to explore the methods of transmitting heart sound through the telephone correspondence system for simultaneous telemetering cardiac contractility and heart rate. Heart sounds were transmitted from a phone to another phone with 4 modes, the wirelessly transmitted distance between the two phones being 5 m, 10 km, and 1000 km, respectively. The results of experiments show that telemetering cardiac contractility and heart rate can be realized by the telephone correspondence system. Such methods have the advantages of being noninvasive, inexpensive, rapid and convenient; moreover, they can be used repeatedly and be available for in-home use.

International Eye Science 2024;24(4):585-588
The complex pathological mechanism of dry eye involves multiple pathways, such as immunity and inflammation, and requires an integral research program to control the whole picture. Various histological techniques can elucidate the complex physio-pathological state of organisms from a holistic and global perspective, thus providing more comprehensive biological information. Mass spectrometry can sensitively detect the changes of protein content in tear samples, providing convenience for proteomics research of dry eye. At present, proteomics has demonstrated its application in the identification of dry eye types, severity grading, and therapeutic effect evaluation. In addition, proteomics combined with metabolomics and microbiomics can more comprehensively explain the pathogenesis of dry eye. In the future, proteomics is expected to provide more powerful support for the precise diagnosis and treatment of dry eye, taking an advantage in targeted therapy.

OBJECTIVE According to the rapid Health Technology Assessment (HTA) for postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP),To evaluate the efficacy ,safety and economy of calcitonin in the treatment of PMOP ,and provide evidence -based medical evidence for clinical drug decision . METHODS Retrieved from the Cochrane Library ,PubMed,Embase,CNKI,Wanfang database,CBM and HTA official website ,systematic review/meta -analysis,pharmacoeconomics research and HTA reports about calcitonin in the treatment of PMOP were retrieved from the inception to Sept . 30th,2022. Two researchers independently carried out screening ,data extraction and quality evaluation ,and analyzed the data results descriptively . RESULTS A total of 18 studies were included ,including 12 SR/meta-analysis and 6 economic studies ,and no HTA report was retrieved . In terms of effectiveness , the results of the included studies were basically consistent :calcitonin had a certain advantage in reducing the incidence of vertebral fracture compared with calcium and lasoxifene alone ,but did not show clinical advantage compared with other positive drugs . In terms of reducing the incidence of non -vertebral fractures , calcitonin had some advantages ,compared with calcium al one and raloxifene ,but did not show clinical advantage compared with other positive drugs . In terms of improving bone mineral density(BMD),only 2 studies showed that calcitonin had a certain advantage over calcium but no advantage was observed compared with other positive drugs . In terms of improving non - vertebral BMD ,only 1 study showed that calcitonin combined with calcium had certain advantages compared with calcium alone in improving femoral BMD ,but there was no advantage compared with other positive drugs . In terms of lowering bone pain scores , both included studies demonstrated short -term benefit of nasal calcitonin in reducing acute pain was found in patients with vertebral fractures, but not in patients with chronic pain . In terms of safety ,the three included studies showed that calcitonin caused mild adverse reactions compared with other positive drugs ,but there was a risk of malignant tumors after long -term use . In terms of economy, only 1 study showed the use of nasal calcitonin in the treatment of PMOP had more economic advantages than no treatment or etidronate . CONCLUSIONS Calcitonin has a certain effect on reducing acute pain in patients with PMOP vertebral fracture, and its safety needs further investigation . No obvious economic advantage has been found .
