Objective To explore the expression of singal transducers and activators of transcription(STAT 3) during focal cerebral ischemic reperfusive injury in rats and the relationship between ischemic neuronal damage and it.Methods Using immunohistochemical method of avidinbiotin peroxidase complex (ABC) we observed the distribution of positive cells in STAT 3 protein immunoreaction after focal cerebral ischemic reperfusive injury in rats. Results STAT 3 immunoreactive positive cells were not found in the cortex and striatum of normal and sham operative rat brains and nonischemic hemisphere brain after cerebral ischemia, small amount of STAT 3 immunity positive cells were induced in the embolism la teral infarction area 12 h after reperfusive injury, and peaked after 24 h,especially in ischemic lateral striatum and around cortex, small number of nerve cells in around infarction still showed positive expression after one week. The difference had remarkable significance( P

Objective To investigate CT and MRI features of abdominal huge liposarcoma, and improve the preoperative diagnostic accuracy. Methods The CT and MRI findings of 1 7 cases with abdominal huge liposarcoma proved by operation and pathology were analyzed and correlated with pathologic subtypes retrospectively. Results In 17 cases,16 cases were located in retroperitoneal,1 case was located in the abdominal cavity. The average maximal diameter of the lesions was 17 cm.In all cases, main components of well differentiated liposarcomata (n=7) were fat density on CT and MRI,and enhanced slightly,3 cases were multiple lesions,1 case of sclerosing liposarcoma contained massive patchy calcification,1 case was fatless.Myxoid liposarcoma (n=5)were similar to cystic on CT and MRI features, enhanced with latticed or cloudy components slightly to moderately .Dedifferentiated liposarcoma (n=2)has both fat and soft tissue inside and the dividing line was clear. The soft tissue mass unevenly obviously enhanced.Mixed liposarcoma (n=3)had the imaging characteristics above different types,2 cases contained no fat composition. Conclusion Liposarcoma pathological subtype has diversity, and various subtypes have certain characteristic on CT and MRI imaging features.

Objective To investigate CT and MRI features of extragonadal primary seminoma and improve its diagnostic accuracy. Methods The clinical and imaging features of 8 patients with extragonadal primary seminoma proved by histopathology were analyzed retrospectively. Results In 8 cases,4 cases were located in intracranial regions,4 cases in the abdominal and pelvic cavity.Detailedly, roundlike solid and cystic tumors were seen in the basal ganglia and thalamus in 2 cases. The mass density and signal were inhomogeneous in the necrotic area with slight peritumoral edema and heterogeneous enhancement, and hemorrhage and metastasis of the third ventricle were occurred inone case.Shallow lobulated tumor was occurred in the pineal region forone case, which MRI features included slightly low signal on T1 WI,equal or higher signal on T2 WI,with obvious enhancement and peripheral cystic change. There was one case in the sella area with slight high density on CT routine scan, and on MRI,slight equal signal on T1 WI,equal or higher signal on T2 WI.The pituitary stalk was involved with thickening.Tumor in suprasellar region was obviously enhanced, with a small uniformity enhancement nodule in the mouth of corpus callosum.4 cases were occurred in the abdominal and pelvic cavity, shallow lobulated tumors with varying degrees of necrosis were found on CT with infiltrating growth and slight to moderate enhancement, and swollen lymph nodes were found in retroperitoneal and mesenteric root areas. Conclusion Extragonadal primary seminoma is rare, there are some characteristic imaging findings, which contributes to improve diagnosis accuracy when combining with clinical data.

OBJECTIVETo develop a solvent desorption gas chromatographic method for determination of n-pentanol in the workplace air.
METHODSn-Pentanol in the workplace air was collected with activated carbon tubes, desorbed with 2% 2-propanol in carbon disulfide, separated with a nitroterephthalic acid-modified FFAP capillary column, and detected with flame ionization detector.
RESULTSThe limit of detection was 0.2 mg/L; the lower limit of quantification was 0.6 mg/L; the linear range was 0.6-4072.0 mg/L. The minimum detectable mass concentration was 0.2 mg/m3 for 1.5 L of air sample. This method was highly repeatable. The relative standard deviations were 2.3%-5.4%. The average desorption efficiencies were 86.9%-94.2%. The absorption efficiencies were 100%. The breakthrough volume was above 8.0 mg in 100-mg activated carbon. The samples in activated carbon tubes could be stored for at least 14 days at room temperature.
CONCLUSIONThe method is feasible for determination of n-pentanol in the workplace air.

The silk gland of silkworm is the organ of silk protein synthesis and secretion. According to the morphological and functional differences, silk gland can be divided into anterior silk gland (ASG), middle silk gland (MSG) and posterior silk gland (PSG). ASG is the place for silk proteins conformation changes although it cannot synthetize silk proteins. ASG has narrow luminal structures and rigid wall which consists of chitin and cuticle proteins so that it can provide the shearing force which plays an important role in the silk protein conformation changes. The objective of this study is to identify the new chitin binding proteins in ASG of silkworm (Bombyx mori), and to analyze their expression patterns in different tissues. We identified a cuticle protein with chitin binding domain Bml1721 (GenBank Accession No. NM-001173285.1) by chitin affinity chromatography column. We also expressed the recombinant protein as inclusion body using the prokaryotic expression system, and then successfully purified the recombinant protein by nickel affinity chromatography column to generate the polyclonal antibodies. The expression patterns analysis in various tissues showed that both in transcriptional and protein levels Bm11721 was specifically expressed in ASG. Furthermore, the expression level of Bm 11721 protein was unchanged during the 5th instar. Immunofluorescence analysis revealed that Bm1 1721 was located in the ASG inner membrane. It is proposed that Bm11721 is a component of inner membrane and probably provides the shearing force for conformational changes.
