Objective To develop an alignment technique based on the movement of body gravity center. Methods As join forces in the system of balance is zero, the position of body gravity center can be calculated by body gravity which is taken from weight sensors, by the special software. Meanwhile, the position of body gravity will be sent to control unit, which can be transformed to driving signal of motor. The sliding table with laser, linked to motor, can make pursuit movement following with body gravity. A precise alignment can be made as the movement of body gravity. The balance function test is also used to make an assistant estimate for the alignment. Results and Conclusion An alignment technique has been developed for the fit of prosthesis and orthotics.

With the development of natural products, the research activities on the solubilization methods of water-insoluble natural products have been carried out worldwide. Big molecular weight and poor solubility of most natural active ingredients lead to a very poor oral absorption and low bioavailability, which has extremely limited their development in pharmaceutical fields and clinical application. As a result, it is necessary to find out a suitable technique to improve the solubility and enhance the oral bioavailability of insoluble natural drugs. Based on the related references published in these years, this review introduced some new techniques to improve the solubility and bioavailability of natural drugs, including prodrugs, inclusion complex, solid dispersion, cocrystals, osmotic pump, liquisolid compacts, micronization, self-microemulsifying, nanosuspensions, lipsomes, polymeric micelles and so on, and summarized the theory, characteristics, application range, application examples, problems and development direction of each technique.

Objective To investigate the change pattern of perioperative plasma D-dimer levels in patients with lung cancer, and the relationship between plasma D-dimer level and clinical pathological features thereof. Methods A to-tal of 64 patients with lung cancer were taken as cancer group, and 15 cases of benign lung disease were used as control group. The plasma levels of D-dimer were determined 2 days before operation, 1 day, 5 days and 9 days after operation in two groups. The clinical pathological parameters and type of surgery were evaluated at the same time. Results Plasma D-dimer levels were significantly higher in patients with lung cancer than those in control group (t=3.087, P<0.05). D-dimer levels were significantly lower in patients of TNM stageⅠthan those in patients of stageⅡorⅢ(P<0.05, respectively). Plas-ma D-dimer levels were significantly higher in patients with small cell cancer than those of patients with non-small cell can-cer (P<0.05). The perioperative plasma levels of D-dimer changed with time trends (P<0.001). In cancer group, D-dimer levels increased on the first day after operation, and then significantly decreased on the fifth and ninth day after operation (P<0.05). In control group, D-dimer levels increased on the first day after operation. The level of D-dimer was the same lev-el on the fifth day and the first day after operation (P=0.174). The level of 9 days after operation decreased to the level before operation (P=0.631). There was significant difference in overall data between cancer group and control group (P=0.005). D-dimer levels were significantly higher in cancer group than those of control group except for the fifth day after operation. Con-clusion Plasma D-dimer levels were much higher before operation in patients with lung cancer than those of controls. Plas-ma D-dimer levels were associated with TNM stage and cell type. D-dimer levels were significantly increased from the first day after operation, and then decreased significantly until the 9-day after operation, which were lower than that before opera-tionin lung cancer patients. But the level was still higher than that in patients with benign lung diseases.

Butyric acid can be used to produce cellulose butyrate fiber and ester derivatives,and to be applied in foodstuffs and perfume industries.Recent researches have found that butyric acid is a preferred carbon source for colonic epithelial cells,and can inhibit histone deacetylase,showing great anticancer potentials.With more and more functions of butyric acid being found and applied in bio-related fields,and with consumer's growing preference to bioproducts,biotechnological production of butyric acid will receive more competence than petroleum-based chemical synthesis.Low product concentration and poor selectivity are presently the main restricting factors.Workers have made considerable progress on more cheep carbon sources,optimization of fermentation process,simplifying downstream processing,and genetic engineering of producing strains.Any achievement on these aspects in the future can contribute to put fermentation of butyric acid into industry.

Objective To develop a method for the simultaneous separation and determination of 10 kinds of sedative hypnotica drugs in the functional food with high performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometry system.Methods The mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile and 15 mmol/L ammonium acetate solution(0.1% formic acid ),chromatographic column was Zobax SB C 18.Identification was based on the compound's absolute retention time,protonated molecular ion,and representative fragment ion by multiple reaction monitoring.The condition of determination was investigated and optimized.Results With this method,the linear range for the 10 drugs was 10-1 080 ?g/kg,the average recoveries ranged from 80.5%-97.1% and the detection limits were from 0.35-12.0?g/kg respectively.Conclusion The method established in the present paper is applicable to monitoring sedative hypnotica drug in the functional food.

Objective To explore the effect of sodium cantharidinate and vitamin B6 injection on plasma D-dimer level in patients of advanced esophageal cancer after chemotherapy and the relationship between plasma D-dimer level and clinical pathological parameters thereof. Methods Fifty-eight patients with advanced esophageal cancer confirmed by path-ological examination were randomly divided into two groups. Twenty-nine patients (experimental group) received chemother-apy (PF chemotherapy) combined with sodium cantharidinate and vitamin B6 (0.5 mg once daily). Twenty-nine patients (con-trol group) received same volume of saline. And there were 20 healthy volunteers as the normal control. The plasma D-dimer level was determined one day before the first cycle of chemotherapy and the third cycle of treatment. Results The plasma D-dimer level was significantly higher before chemotherapy in patients with advanced esophageal cancer than that in normal control group (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in plasma D-dimer level between patient gender, age, clinical stage and pathological levels. The D-dimer level was significantly down-regulated after chemotherapy. The D-dimer level was significantly lower in experimental group than that in control group (P<0.05). The incidences of digestive and hemato-logical adverse reactions were much lower in experimental group than those in control group. Conclusion The elevated plasma D-dimer level was found in patients with advanced esophageal cancer, and which was down-regulated by chemother-apy. The chemotherapy of sodium cantharidinate and vitamin B6 can further reduce the D-dimer level, and relieve the ad-verse reactions of chemotherapy.

Objective To investigate the effects of naloxone injected into cisterna magna on S100β protein and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) levels in serum and the histopathology of brain tissue of rats following cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR). Methods Thirty adult male SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: Sham group, Conventional CPR group (intravenous injection of epinephrine, 0.2 mg/kg) and Naloxone CPR group(cisterna magna injection of naloxone, 2 mg/kg). Asphyxiation was used to set up rat cardiac arrest model, and corresponding drugs were given when the resuscitation was carried out. The blood samples were taken from orbital venous plexus at 0.5 h, 3 h, 6 h and 24 h after restoration of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect serum levels of S100β protein and NSE. Brain tissue was taken after the last blood sampling and the pathology of brain was observed by hematoxylin-eosin (H-E) staining. Results Serum S100β protein levels of the Conventional CPR group and Naloxone CPR group were significantly higher than those of the Sham group at all time points (P <0.01); compared with the Conventional CPR group, S100β protein levels in Naloxone CPR group were significantly decreased at 3 h, 6 h, and 24 h after ROSC (P <0.05 or P <0.01). Serum NSE protein level of the Conventional CPR group at all time points and Naloxone CPR group at 6 h and 24 h after ROSC were significantly higher than those of the Sham group (P <0.05 or P <0.01). Serum NSE protein levels were significantly decreased at 6 h and 24 h after ROSC in Naloxone CPR group compared with the Conventional CPR group (P <0.05 or P <0.01). Moreover, hippocampus glial cells of Conventional CPR group were scattered and decreased, with condensed eosinophilic cytoplasm, narrowed nuclues, unclear nucleolus, and swollen and deformed capillaries. However, most nerve cells of Naloxone CPR group had rich cytoplasm and the nucleolus was clear; only a few nerve cells and capillaries showed edema-like changes of different degrees. Conclusion Naloxone injected into cisterna magna has a prominent protective effect on the brain of rats following cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Objective To investigate the clinical teaching situation by using developmental inspection of School of Medicine,Shanghai Jiaotong University(SJTU-SM),and to put forward some suggestions. Methods By checking questionnaires and informal discussions,the relevant information was collected and analyzed by using SPSS statistics sofware. Results The clinical teaching quality of SJTU-SM was basically satisfied.The satisfaction from internship of grade 2004 was better than that of grade 2003.However,some problems in clinical teaching must be improved.Conclusion The investigation showed that the clinical teaching quality of SJTU-SM is being improving.However,in order to achieve the international accreditation standards,the quality guarantee system of clinical teaching need to be further perfected.

Objective To investigate the time trends and age-related characteristics of mortality and disease burden for cardiocerebrovascular diseases (CVD) in Hunan, China during three periods ( 1973 -1975, 1990 - 1992 and 2004 -2005). Methods The cardiocerebrovaacular death data of Hunan residents were collected by three national retrospective sample surveys of death. Cause-specific mortality, proportion, years of potential life lost (YPLL) and associated indicators were identified in the population of Hunan in above mentioned three periods. Time trends of age-specific mortality rate were assessed by fitting curvilinear regression lines and the increase rates of mortality with age were analyzed in each period. Results The standard all-cause mortality of residents in Hunan decreased ( x~2 = 189. 947, P < 0. 001, x~2 = 54. 201, P <0. 001 ; x~2 = 27 396. 898, P < 0. 001 ) while the standard mortality for CVD increased ( x~2 = 54. 201, P <0. 001;x~2 = 27 396. 898 ,P < 0. 001 ) from 1973 to 2005. The age-specific mortality rate for CVD increased with age in all three periods, especially for citizens older than 60 years. There were age stages in each period in which the mortality increase rate was the fastest (10 -14 and 15 -19 years old in 1973 -1975; 10 -14,15 - 19 and over 80 years old in 1990 - 1992 ; 15 - 19 and over 80 years old in 2004-2005 ). Exponential regression function ((y), = b_0e~(b1x)) can be used for the proper description of age-specific mortality change. The ratio of YPLL for CVD in all death causes showed increase trend ( x~2 = 275 630. 407, P < 0. 001 ). YPLL rate (YPLLs per 1000) in 1973 -1975 was higher than those in 1990 -1992 and 2004 -2005. YPLL rate was positively correlated with mortality in all periods. Conclusions The mortality for CVD increased with time and aging. People older than 60 years were threatened by CVD mostly. Mortality trend analysis also found higher CVD deaths in people age 15 - 19 in Hunan residents.
