0.05;AGC R 1 to R 2 P 0.05.The invasive depth of the lesion corresponded to the degree of lymph node metastases. No relation was found between tumor size and the survival rate. The prognosis of type Ⅲ EGC and AGC with infiltration was poor. Conclusions: Biological behavior of gastric cancer can be used as a guide to operation type.We proposed that EGC should undergo subtotal gastrectomy plus R 1 or selective R 2 ,and AGC should undergo subtotal gastrectomy or near total gastrectomy plus R 2 or selective R 3 ,with a margin of at least 5 cm from the tumor.

Objective To investigate the relationship between postoperative cognitive dysfunc-tion and plasma cortisol levels in aged patients undergoing total hip replacement surgery. Methods Ninety patients aged 65-75 years old, scheduled for total hip replacement surgery under general anesthesia were enrolled in the present study.Cognitive state was tested by mini-mental state examination (MMSE).The patients were divided into two groups,POCD group and non-POCD group.Perioperative plasma levels of cortisol were determined on 2 d preoperative,2 d postoperative and 7 d postoperative. Results Incidence of POCD after 7 d in aged patients undergoing total hip re-placement surgery was 37.8%.Compared with day 2 d preoperative, plasma cortisol levels in POCD patients significantly increased on 2 d and 7 d post operation (P <0.01 or P <0.05).Compared with non-POCD patients, cortisol levels on the 2 d and 7 d postoperative day significantly increased in POCD patients (P <0.05).Plasma cortisol levels showed a negative correlation with MMSE scores on postoperative 2 d and 7 d(P <0.01).Conclusion Elderly patients have a relatively higher incidence of POCD after hip replacement surgery.POCD may be caused by high plasma cortisol levels in elderly patients following hip replacement surgery under general anesthesia.

Objective: To explore the different genotypes’ susceptibility to intervention of coarse grain food in dyslipdemia population. Method: 409 middle and old aged residents with blood lipoprotein abnormalities were randomized to 2 groups: the intervention group (230 subjects) and the control group (179 subjects). Everyone of the former group was given a steamed bread of coarse grain food per day and health education once every month; while the control group was only given health education. Intervention period was 6 months. The genotypes of LPL-Pvu Ⅱ of the intervention group were analyzed by PCR-RFLP (restriction fragment length polymorphism) technique. Results: All indices in intervention group except WHR were improved after intervention. BMI, WHR, SBP, DBP, serum TG were significantly lower than control group; while serum HDL-C was significantly higher than control group after intervention. Among all genotype groups, the P+/P+ group was more sensible for the change of serum TG and more significant in the effect of improving blood lipids than the P-/P- group; and the susceptibility of change for TC and HDL-C in serum was least in the P-/P- group. Conclusion: There are good intervention effects of coarse grain food in dyslipdemia population. The susceptibilities to improve blood lipids vary with different geno-types of LPL-Pvu Ⅱ , especially for change of serum TG ,and P+/P+ group was more sensible.

Objective To preliminarily investigate the effect of ribosomal protein S7 on apoptosis of HeLa cervical cancer cells. Methods The previously constructed recombinant plasmid pIRES2-EGFP-RPS7 was transfected into HeLa cells, the empty vector pIRES2-EGFP transfected cells as control.Enhanced green fluorescent protein(EGFP)expressing cells were quantified by flow cytometry, and RPS7 protein level was also determined by Western blotting.Cell apoptosis of both RPS7 over-expression cells and knockdown cells were evaluated by flow cytometry after staining using allophycocyanin labeled Annexin-V.Results Apoptotic cell level in the obtained RPS7 transient over-expression HeLa cells was significantly higher than that of vector con-trol cells [(1 0.00 ±0.60)% vs (5.73 ±0.61 )%],with a statistic difference (t =8.63,P =0.001 ). Moreover, the apoptotic level in RPS7 knockdown cells was lower than that in control cells [(3.08 ± 0.49)% vs (5.97 ±0.63)%],with a statistic difference (t =6.40,P =0.003).Conclusion Up-regula-tion of RPS7 may promote apoptosis, while down-regulation of RPS7 may inhibit apoptosis of HeLa cells,indi-cating that RPS7 may play roles in regulating cell apoptosis.

Objective To investigate the relationship between esophageal motility and distal latency (DL) in gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) using high resolution manometry (HRM).Methods A total of 51 GERD patients underwent HRM and 24 h-esophageal pH monitoring.According to the HRM topography (characterized as either break peristalsis or normal esophageal movement),all GERD patients were divided into two groups:hypomotility group (n =28) and normal group (n =23).Fourteen non-GERD controls were enrolled. The monitoring results were analyzed. Results The HRM DL of 28 esophageal hypomotility patients(54.9%,28/51) were the longest (7.27 ± 1.44) s.Patients with normal peristalsis also had longer latency (6.70 ± 1.41)s than the non-GERD controls (5.86 ± 0.96)s.All the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.01).DCI of hypotensive peristalsis patients (712.49 ± 703.10) mmHg · s · cm was lower compared with the other groups [(1 285.85 ± 850.83) mmHg · s · cm,(1 109.74 ± 611.70) mmHg · s · cm] (P <0.O1).Other indicators such as LES pressure,CFV and IBP showed no significant differences among groups (P > 0.05).Conclusion Esophageal manometry of GERD patients indicates that esophageal hypomotility is accompanied with prolonged DL.Because DL of all GERD sufferers are extended, esophageal dysmotility has great implications for GERD's development.
