· Application of capsular tension ring ( CTR ) in phacoemulsification has become a common method to increase the stability of the capsular bag. CTR can effectively reduce the posterior capsular opacification ( PCO) , prevent intraocular lens ( lOL ) decentration and tilt, not cause lOL degree deviation and aberration increase.ln this review, we summarized the development overview of CTR in phacoemulsification.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the influence of seasons, blood types and semen parameters on the cryosurvival rate of frozen-thawed spermatozoa from sperm donors.

METHODSWe retrospectively analyzed the influence of seasons, blood types, abstinence period, semen volume, sperm morphology, and pre-freeze sperm motility and concentration on the cryosurvival rate of frozen-thawed sperm in 4 088 semen samples from Shaanxi Human Sperm Bank.

RESULTSThe cryosurvival rate of the post-thaw sperm was correlated negatively with the progressive motility of the pre-freeze sperm (r = -0.262, P < 0.01), but positively with pre-freeze sperm concentration (r = 0.247, P < 0.01), and it was significantly higher in the 6-day abstinence group ([70.2 +/- 5.4]%) than in the other abstinence groups (P < 0.01), so was it in the normal sperm morphology rate > 20% group ([71.4 +/- 5.1]%) than in the others (P < 0.01). The survival rate of the post-thaw sperm was not correlated with seasons, blood types, and semen volume (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSperm motility, concentration and morphology and the abstinence period of sperm donors may be valuable predictors of the cryosurvival rate of post-thaw sperm, but no correlation was found between the survival rate and seasons, blood types and semen volume.

Objective: To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of influenza clusters in Hangzhou from 2018 to 2019, so as to provide references for the prevention and control of influenza. Methods: The data came from the epidemic investigation reports of influenza clusters in Hangzhou from the 27th week of 2018 and the 26th week of 2019. The time distribution, school types, population distribution and etiology of influenza were analyzed. Multivariate logistic regression model was employed to analyze the influencing factors for the attack rate of influenza clusters. Results: During the surveillance season, a total of 231 school influenza clusters involving 4 233 cases were reported. The median of the attack rate was 21.74%. The peak of the clusters was in March 2019, with 89 events and 1 476 cases ( 34.87% ). The clusters occurred mainly in primary schools ( 188 events, 81.39% ) and were mainly caused by Victoria-like strains of influenza B virus ( 84 events, 36.36% ). The multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that infection of teachers increased the risk of high attack rate ( OR=3.133, 95%CI: 1.180-8.320 ), and kindergartens had higher risk of high attack rate than primary schools ( OR=4.123, 95%CI: 1.579-10.763 ). Conclusions The influenza clusters in Hangzhou from 2018 to 2019 is mainly caused by Victoria-like strains of influenza B virus. Kindergartens and teachers are the key points for the prevention and control of influenza clusters.

The high molecular weight genomic DNA of yeast was extracted using three methods.Products were separated on agarose gel electrophoresis,quantified by spectrophotometer ND-1000 and restricted by EcoRⅠand MesⅠ.The result was shown that the genomic DNA extracted by modified benzyl chloride method was the best.The products of wild isolates supported it,too.This method was suitable for restriction of genomic DNA from yeast.

Objective To study the use of nursing outcome classification (NOC)in the specialized gerontology nursing, so as to make the basis for popularizing the NOC.Methods 293 elderly inpatients were taken care by the specialized gerontology nursing while the NOC was used to determine the nursing outcome, the nursing measures and aims were amended constantly according to the outcome and the doctors would be suggested to adjust their diagnosis and treat schemes.Results The adverse event of nursing in observation group was less than that of control group(2.5% vs 17.3%,χ2=17.86,P<0.01). the diagnosis, measures and their NOC knowledge of nursing and skills were improved significantly(P<0.01).Conclusions The application of NOC in gerontology nursing is helpful to use nursing procedures to promote the level of nursing qualities and their professional competency in specialized gerontology nursing.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most popular diseases that cause menstrual dysfunction and infertility in women. The present paper is a brief retrospection on the progress in treatment of PCOS caused infertility with integrative Chinese and Western medicine (ICWM). It can be seen from these materials that using traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) recipes formulated by Shen-replenishing herbs or acupuncture to reinforce Gan-Shen, regulate Chong-Ren Channels in treating PCOS, stable clinical efficacy could be obtained, with less adverse reaction, though the effect initiated somewhat late. Whereas, when Shen-replenishing recipe and acupuncture are combined with hormone or ovulation promoting drugs of Western medicine, the above-mentioned shortcomings would be overcome. So, this combined therapy is frequently used in clinical practice.

OBJECTIVETo observe the intervention effect of acupuncture on early onset of selec- tive serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) in treating depressive disorder, and to study its effect on ser- um 5-HT and unbalanced inflammatory cytokines secreted by TH1/TH2.

METHODSTotally 90 patients with depressive disorder were randomly assigned to the drug control group (as the control group, 45 cases) and the acupuncture combined drug treatment group (as the treatment group, 45 cases). All patients were treated for 4 consecutive weeks. Another 45 healthy subjects were recruited as a healthy control group. The effect of acupuncture on early onset of SSRls in treating acute phase depressive disorder pa- tients was evaluated by HAMD score in the control group and the treatment group before treatment,and at weekends of the 1st, 2nd, and 4th week after treatment. Besides, their serum levels of 5-HT, IL-1β and IL-6 (secreted by TH1), and IL-4 and IL-10 (secreted by TH2) were detected before treatment and after treatment at the weekend of the 4th week.

RESULTSCompared with the healthy control group,serum lev- els of 5-HT, IL-4, and IL-10 decreased in the two drug-treated groups before treatment (P < 0.01); serum levels of IL-1β and IL-6 increased (P <0.01). Compared with before treatment in the same group, HAMD score decreased in the control group at weekends of the 2nd and the 4th week after treatment (P < 0.01); HAMD scores decreased in the treatment group at weekends of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd,and 4th week after treatment (P < 0.01); serum levels of 5-HT, IL-4, and IL-10 increased,serum levels of IL-1β and IL- 6 decreased in the two drug-treated groups after treatment (all P < 0.01). Compared with the control group at the same time point,HAMD scores decreased in the treatment group at weekends of the 1st, 2nd,3rd,and 4th week after treatment (P < 0.01),serum levels of 5-HT, IL-4, and IL-10 increased (P < 0.05, P < 0.01), serum levels of IL-6 decreased (P < 0. 01).

CONCLUSIONAcupuncture could accelerate early onset of SSRIs in treating acute phase depressive disorder, and effectively regulate serum 5-HT levels and inflammatory cytokines secreted by TH1/TH2.

Background Although Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) and optic neuritis have different causes and managements,their clinical manifestations are difficult to be distinguished.Real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RTFQ-PCR) is a high flux,simple,rapid and specific detecting technology,so establishing a specific diagnosis method of LHON with RTFQ-PCR has a practical significance.Objective Purpose of the present study was to establish a real-time Taqman probe for mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA)11778G＞A mutation in LHON patients.Methods Primers and Taqman probe for mtDNA 11778G＞A mutation were designed based on mtDNA complete geneme.Eighty-four patients with LHON were selected from the LHON DNA bank of Molecular Biology Laboratory,Henan Eye Institute,and 40 normal physical examinees aged 18-20 years were from Henan People's Hospital.2 ml of periphery blood was collected from each individual.Based on the double-blindness principle,mtDNA 11778G＞A mutation was tested by both Taqman probe and sequencing to check the reliability of real-time Taqman probe.Results The mtDNA 11778G＞A mutation was found in 23 out of 84 patients,and 61 showed a negative result by the technique of real-time Taqman probe.The Ct values of 23 patients with mtDNA 11778G＞A mutation were 22.993 ±0.708,but those of 5 normal controls were 0.These findings showed a consistent rate of 100％ with the sequencing results.In addition,both the false positive rate and the false negative rate were zero.Conclusions Real-time Taqman probe technique is an accurate,convenient,sensitive,specific and intuitionistic method for the diagnosis of mtDNA 11778G＞A mutation in LHON patients.It is feasible and suitable to screen the LHON patients with mtDNA 11778G＞A mutation in a large scale.

Objective:To investigate the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at Ganshu (BL 18) and Shenshu (BL 23) on vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1)/CD31 around the cerebral infarction focus in middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) rats and the possible mechanism, thus to provide a new strategy for the treatment of cerebral ischemic stroke by acupuncture. Methods:A total of 180 healthy male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into a sham operation group, a model group, an acupoint group and a non-acupoint group, 45 rats in each group. MCAO model was established using the modified line-embolus method in all rats except for those in the sham operation group; rats in the acupoint group were treated with EA at Ganshu (BL 18) and Shenshu (BL 23); rats in the non-acupoint group were treated with EA at the control points; rats in other 2 groups were only subjected to bundling without treatment. Ten rats in each group were randomly selected on the 3rd day, the 14th day and the 21st day after acupuncture stimulation to test the neurological function impairment. The expression levels of CD31 and VEGF were also detected. Results:Compared with the model group and non-acupoint group, the neurological function score of the acupoint group was decreased at each time point, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05,P<0.01). The expressions of VEGF and CD31 in each group were the lowest on the 3rd day, reached the peak on the 14th day and still remained at high level on the 21st day. And the differences among groups were statistically significant both on the 14th day and the 21st day (P<0.05,P<0.01). Compared with the model group and the non-acupoint group, the expressions of VEGF and CD31 in the acupoint group were increased, and the differences were statistically significant (allP<0.05). Conclusion: EA at Ganshu (BL 18) and Shenshu (BL 23) can significantly improve the neurological function score of MCAO model rats, and shows protective effect on cerebral ischemia. The protective mechanism may be related to the up-regulation of CD31 and VEGF expression around the cerebral infarction focus in the MCAO model rats and induction of angiogenesis.

The effect and underlying mechanism of Bu-Shen-An-Tai recipe on ovarian apoptosis in mice with controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) implantation dysfunction were studied.The COH implantation dysfunction model in mice was established by intraperitoneal injection of 7.5 IU pregnant mare's serum gonadotrophin (PMSG),followed by 7.5 IU human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) 48 h later.Then the female mice were mated with male at a ratio of 2:l in the same cage at 6:00 p.m.The female mice from normal group were injected intraperitoneally with normal saline and mated at the corresponding time.Day 1 of pregnancy was recorded by examining its vaginal smears at 8:00 a.m.of the next day.Fifty successfully pregnant mice were equally randomly divided into 5 groups:normal control pregnant group (NC),COH implantation dysfunction model group (COH),low dosage of Bu-Shen-An-Tai recipe group (LOW),middle dosage of Bu-Shen-An-Tai recipe group (MID) and high dosage of Bu-Shen-An-Tai recipe group (HIGH).Then from day 1,the mice in different groups were respectively intragastrically given corresponding treatments at 9:00 a.m.for 5 consecutive days.The concentrations of 17β-estradiol (E2) and progesterone (P4) were determined by radioimmunoassay (RIA).The ultrastructural changes of ovarian tissues were observed by transmission electron microscope (TEM).The histopathological changes of ovarian tissues were observed by HE staining.The number of atretic follicles and pregnant corpus luteum were also recorded.TUNEL was applied to measure apoptotic cells of ovarian tissues.Western blotting was used to detect the protein expression of apoptosis-related factors like Bax,Bcl-2 and cleaved-caspase-3 in ovarian tissue of mice.The results showed that ovarian weight,the concentrations of E2 and P4,the number of atretic follicles and pregnant corpus luteum,as well as the apoptosis of granulosa cells were significantly increased in the COH group.The ultrastructures of ovarian tissues in the COH group showed that chromatin in granulosa cells was increased,agglutinated,aggregated or crescent-shaped.The focal cavitation and the typical apoptotic bodies could be seen in granulosa cells in the late stage of apoptosis.After the treatment with different doses of Bu-Shen-An-Tai recipe,the ultrastructural changes of ovarian granulosa cells apoptosis were dramatically improved and even disappeared under TEM.Visible mitochondria and mitochondrial cristae were increased and vacuoles were significantly reduced.The lipid dropltes were shown in a circluar or oval shape.The protein expression levels of Bax and cleaved-caspase-3 were decreased,and the expression of Bcl-2 protein was increased after treatment.It was concluded that Bu-Shen-An-Tai recipe can inhibit the apoptosis of ovarian granulosa cells,probably by up-regulating the protein expression of Bcl-2 and down-regulating Bax and cleaved-caspase-3,which contributes to the formation and maintenance of ovarian corpus luteum.It's helpful to promote the embryonic implantation,to reduce embryo loss and ultimately to improve the success rate of pregnancy.
