Objective:To explore the effect of feeding via the transpyloric route on the gastrointestinal function in very low birth weight (VLBW) infants and find the best early enteral nutrition protocol. Methods:Sixty VLBW infants were randomly devided into transpyloric feeding group(TP group) (n =30) and intragastric feeding group(IG group) (n =30).The frequency of apnoea, weight gain, the time of birth weight regain, feed intolerance, time of reaching full enteral feeding, the incidence of extrauterus-growth retardation (EUGR),motilin, gastrin, the length of hospital stay, necrotizing enterocolitis and duodenal perforation were observed in two groups. Results:The intolerance and time of reaching full enteral feeding were reduced significantly during transpyloric feeding compared with intragastric feeding (P < 0.05).The number of episodes of apnoea was decreased significantly during transpyloric feeding compared with intragastric feeding (P < 0.01).Conclusion:Transpyloric feeding can be used in VLBW infants.

Objective To investigate the susceptible gene loci of SLE.Methods Susceptible loci of chromosome16were found in systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE).According to our previous linkage map-ping and gene chip data, four genes named OAZ,CARD15,DNAJA2and IL-4R were chosen as candidate genes for gene expression research.mRNA extracted from whole blood of42SLE patients and36normal controls were reversely transcipted to cDNA.Then Taqman probe and primers were added to perform real-time PCR in ABI Prism誖7900HT sequence detection system.Housekeeping gene GAPDH was used as a control. Results OAZ and CARD15gene expression was significantly higher in SLE patients than those in normal controls(P

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2024;36(11):936-940
Objective:
To investigate the difference in influencing factors for diabetes between urban and rural residents in Hefei City, so as to provide the basis for control and research of diabetes.
Methods:
The residents aged 18 years and older were selected using the stratified multistage random sampling method from 5 districts (counties) in Hefei City from August to December 2021. Demographic information, smoking, self-rated health status and sleep duration were collected through questionnaire surveys. Height, body weight and fasting blood glucose were measured. The crude prevalence of diabetes was calculated and standardized by age using China Statistical Yearbook 2022. Factors affecting diabetes were identified using a multivariable logistic regression model.
Results:
Totally 10 443 residents were investigated, including 6 386 urban residents (61.15%) and 4 057 rural residents (38.85%). There were 4 690 males (44.91%) and 5 753 females (55.09%). Diabetes were detected in 1 492 cases, with a standardized prevalence of 9.57%. The standardized prevalence of diabetes among urban and rural residents were 9.21% and 12.58%, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that region, age, educational level, occupation, body mass index and self-rated health status were influencing factors for diabetes. Further analysis stratified by urban and rural area showed that, in addition to the above factors, gender and smoking were influencing factors for diabetes among urban residents, while sleep duration was the influencing factor for diabetes among rural residents (all P<0.05).
Conclusions
There are urban-rural differences in the prevalence of diabetes among residents in Hefei City, and the prevalence of diabetes is associated with age, educational level, occupation, body mass index and self-rated health status.

Objective To study the expression of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF),thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1) and the mi- crovessel density (MVD) and their relationship in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods Forty-six specimens of resected, paraffin embedded esophageal specious of squamous cell carcinoma were examined by immunohistochemical technique for the MVD and expression of bFGF and TSP-1.Results Of the 46 patients, the positive rate of bFGF and TSP-1 were 60.9% (28/46) and 37.0% (17/46),respectively.The mean value of MVD was (56.59?28.97)/mm~2.The depth of invasion had a significantly positive corre- lation with positive expression of bFGF and TSP-1.TNM stage had a significantly positive correlation with positive expression of TSP- 1.The value of MVD was closely associated with histological grade, lymph node metastasis and the expression of bFGF.Conclusion bFGF,TSP-1 and tumor microvessel play important roles in development and progression of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. bFGF is a important regulator of tumor angiogenesis.

Suitable pretreatment of biological samples can truly reflect the role of law of the measured components played in the body and will provide experimental evidence for the studies on metabolic process, material basis of efficacy, mechanism of action, pharmacology, toxicology and the others. Biological samples include blood, urine, hair, tears, etc. There are also many samples processing methods, such as the direct protein precipitation, liquid-liquid extraction and solid phase extraction and so on. These methods could be used alone or combined.

Objective To evaluate the value of supersonic shear wave elastrography(SWE) in the diagnosis of benign and malignant breast lesions. Methods SWE was performed on 134 breast lesions of 123 female patients and 74 normal breast glands to determine the values of overall elastic modulus and dispersion, and ROC curves were used to assess the diagnosis boundary value of two kinds of data respectively. Results According to the diagnostic gold standard-histopathology,the values of overall elastic modulus and dispersion were statistically significant when comparing benign lesions and malignant lesions with normal glands.ROC curve displayed that, when the Youden index reached to maximum, the diagnosis boundary value of overall elastic modulus was 41.01 kPa,the sensitivity and specificity of the value were 68.5% and 83.8% respectively; the diagnosis boundary value of dispersion was 12.25 kPa,the sensitivity and specificity of the value were 87.0% and 88.7% respectively. Conclusions The values of overall elastic modulus and dispersion for solid breast lesions can be used to reflect the elastic characteristics of lesions quantificationally, which is useful to diagnose benign and malignant breast lesions in clinical.

Objective To observe the effects of methionine enkephalin (M-Enk) on migration of macrophages from mice with impaired liver and its immunomodulatory mechanisms. MethodsLiver of mice was impaired by feeding CCl4 and macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MMIF) was produced by Con A-stimulated spleen lympho- cytes. Inhibition of macrophage migration was measured in reaction system by adding M-Enk. Results Migration of macrophages in both liver-impaired and control group were suppressed by MMIF, but the suppression might be re- versed by adding 1 μmol/L M-Enk (P<0. 05). M-Enk could significantly inhibit in vitro both of the combination of MMIF with macrophages and production of MMIF from lymphocytes (P<0. 01). Macrophages from liver-imparied group showed a higher sensitivity compared to the control group (P<0. 05). ConclusionThe study suggests that opi- oid peptieds play an important role in the modulation of the immune response under stress as liver impairment.
