Objective To observe the security, major cardiac adverse events and target lesion revascularization (TLR) in patients underwent Sirolimus Eluting Stents and Paclitaxel Eluting Stents implantation. Methods A total of 224 consecutive patients from Dec, 2002 to Dec, 2004 who randomized to receive SES and PES implantation were enrolled with 168 male cases and 56 female cases. The average age was 60.9?11.1 years (35-86 yrs) and the median follow-up period was 13.4?6.7 months (3-27 ms). Results There was no difference in baseline characteristics between both groups. No acute and subacute thrombosis events occurred in both groups but two delayed thrombosis occurred in the PES group. There were six MACEs in the PES group, and among them two patients occurred delayed thrombosis and four patients underwent target lesion revascularization. There was one patient underwent TLR in the SES group. Conclusion Both drug eluting stents reduced MACEs and TLR, but the rate of delayed thrombosis, MACEs and TLR was lower in the SES group than in the PES group.

This study aims to investigate the effect of total flavones of Fructus Chorspondiatis (TFFC) on the mRNA and protein expression of collagen type I and III of rat cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) induced by angiotensin II (Ang II), and explore its anti-myocardial fibrosis molecular mechanism. Neonatal rat CFs were prepared from Sprague-Dawley rats (1-3 d after birth). The expression of collagen type I and III mRNA and protein were measured by RT-PCR and Western blotting, respectively. The study showed that stimulation of neonatal rat CFs with 100 nmol.L-1 of Ang II for 72 h resulted in a significant increase of the expression of collagen type I and III mRNA and protein. The changes on the expression level were blocked by TFFC. The results demonstrated that TFFC can inhibit myocardial fibrosis induced by Ang II in rats, which is probably associated with the collagen type I and III mRNA and protein levels up-regulated by Ang II, and TFFC was shown to decrease the expression levels of collagen type I and III mRNA and protein.

Objedtve To summarize the experience of single-stage repair of coarctation of aorta(CoA) or interrupted aortic arch (IAA)and associated intracardiac defects through median stemotomy. Methods From Jan 2007 to Jul 2008,a total of 24 pa-tients with CoA or IAA and associated intracardisc defects were surgically repaired in single-stage through median stermotomy,inchud-ing 9 coanctation of aorta,12 coarctation with aortic arch hypoplasia, and 3 interrupted aorlic arch,.The associated intracardiac de-fects were Taussing-Bing anomaly 4,non-restricted VSD 22,subaortic stenosis 1 and pulmonary vein stenosis 1.The age ranged form 1 to 99 months (average 16 months) and the body weight ranged from 4 to 19 kg(average 9.3 kg).Aortic arch reconstruction was performed by hypothermic continuous low flow bypass using regional perfusion for all patients.Three patients with LAA and 9 patients with CoA underwent end-to-end ansetomosis.Of the 12 patients with coarctation and aortic arch hyipoplasia,8 patiellts underwent ex-tended end-to-end anastomosis,2 patients underwent end-to-side anastomosis and 2 patients underwent aortoplasfy. Results 2 cases were dead. One infant with Taussig-Bing type heart was dead of severe infection after 47 days postoperative, the other one who associ-ated with LAA and VSD dead of pulmonary hypertension crisis due to pneumonia after 15 days postoperative. No patient presented neu-rdogieal complication and renal insufficiency during the perioperation.2 cases presented recurrent respiratory problem.During the 18months follow-up,no patient presented with recoarctation except one with pressure gradient more than 20 mm Hg.Conclusion Pa-tients with coarctation of aorta or interrupted aortic arch and associsted intracardisc defects should be surgically treated as early as pos-sible when diagnosis was mode.Single-stage sortic arch reconstruction through median stemotomy using continuous regional perfusion is an effective and safe procedurd.Sufficient resection of ductus, extensive dissection of thoracic vessels and optimal tissus-tissue anas-tomosis techmique are very important for successful repair and avoiding recoarctation.

BACKGROUND: Demineralized bone matrix and bone morphogenetic protein have been shown to have good bone induction, but less studies concerned nanometer demineralized bone matrix. Its physical and chemical properties and biological security are not yet clear.
OBJECTIVE:On the basis of preparing the nanometer human demineralized bone matrix in previous experiment, we mixed the recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 together to obtain the new bone graft substitute and to research its physical and chemical properties and biological security.
METHODS:The human demineralized bone matrixes were prepared by the method of modified Urist and nano-processed then mixed with the bone morphogenetic protein-2 in specific proportions in order to be lyophilized to complete the fol owing experiments. (1) Pyrogen experiment:the material extracts were injected in the rabbits by ear intravenous. (2) Toxicity experiments:material extracts and saline were separately injected via the tail vein of mice in vivo. (3) Implantation experiments:experimental materials andβ-tricalcium phosphate were implanted into rabbits on both sides of the hindlimb muscle.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After lyophilized shaping, the nanometer demineralized bone matrix material had dense surface and it’s pore diameter was 100-400μm. The pore distribution was less uniform and the porosity was of less than 30%. The main elements were carbon, oxygen and nitrogen. Nanometer human demineralized bone matrix with recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 did not have pyrogen effect and the rabbits’ body temperature had no significant fluctuations after injection. The acute systemic toxicity test results showed that the nanometer human demineralized bone matrix with recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 complied with the relevant provisions of the State, without obvious toxic reaction. The inflammatory response of nanometer human demineralized bone matrix with recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 was significantly lighter than the reaction ofβ-tricalcium phosphate. The results showed that the nanometer human demineralized bone matrix with recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 is a nanometer al ogeneic bone graft substitutes with nontoxicity, good biocompatibility, high bioavailability, and less inflammatory reaction.
