Objective To investigate the reconstructive method with better sensory and erectile function for partial penile defect. Methods The procedure was as follows: dissecting the suspensory ligaments and separating part of crus, the local fat flap was transferred to fill the front space of symphysis ossium pubica.Various pedicle skin flaps were designed as covering materials.Penis residual stump was advanced to anterior portion of the newly reconstructed penile body as “glans”.The post-operative follow-up included taking full layer skin of penis from the patients to observe neurofibril regeneration by light microscope, electron microscope and scanning electron microscope;determining sensation recovery by physical examination;and checking erectile function with NEVA system. Results 42 patients underwent the above mentioned procedures. In these cases, the length of the penis varied from 0.5~4.0 cm in flaccid,1.5~5.0 cm in erect state before operation to 5.0~8.0 cm in flaccid,7.0~12.5 cm in erect state after operation.28 patients were followed up for more than 1 year.Of them 23 men got married with acceptable sexual activity;in them 18 had their children. The microscopic examination showed that the tenuous wavy peripheral nerves were well differentiated and no denaturation and necrosis were observed in the dermis, near subcutaneous adipose and around eccrine glands. The positive granules could be seen in the cytoplasm of regenerative neurofibrils by immunohistochemistry technique. The regenerative neurofibrils and related tissues could be seen under scanning and transmission electron microscope. The penis presented normal pain, touch feeling and 2-point identification ability in more than 12 months after surgery.Over 12 months after surgery, the patient had gained 4~9 events during 8~12 hours of sleep, and the durations were 4 to 37 min;the volume changes were from 114% to 505% over baseline. Conclusions With this method, the reconstructed penis tends to have better appearance and functions. For penile partial defect it is superior to the conventional operation.
2.Superior mesenteric veinous thrombosis with Bacteroides fragilis infection: a case report
China Tropical Medicine 2023;23(5):560-
Abstract: Superior mesenteric veinous thrombosis (SMVT) is a rare complication that often occurs in conjunction with intra-abdominal diseases such as diverticulitis, appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disease, etc. Its clinical symptoms are non-specific and include fevers, abdominal pain; it has no specific symptoms, and the diagnosis depends on clinical laboratory tests and imaging studies. The occurrence of superior mesenteric veinous thrombophlebitis is related to septic phlebitis caused by the sloughing of the embolus containing bacteria into the portal vein with blood flow. Due to the nonspecific clinical features of this disease, diagnosing it based on clinical characteristics and microbiological aspects is a challenge. A case of superior mesenteric veinous septic thrombophlebitis caused by Bacteroides fragilis infection is reported and to provide a reference for the diagnosis and treatment of such diseases. The patient was a 34-year-old man who was admitted the hospital with intermittent abdominal pain and fever. Computed tomography (CT) showed partial thrombosis of the superior mesenteric vein, colonoscopy revealed diverticulitis in the ileoceca, and the blood culture grew Bacteroides fragilis. The patient was treated with anti-infection (ceftazidime 2.0 g q12h intravenous infusion for 11 days; metronidazole 0.5 g, q8h intravenous infusion for 3 days) and anticoagulation (rivaroxaban 20 mg qd orally for 8 days. On the 11th day of hospitalization, the patient's condition improved, and he was discharged. In this case, for patients with fever and abdominal pain, superior mesenteric venous thrombophlebitis should be included in the differential diagnosis. Through auxiliary examination, blood sample culture and other technologies, clear diagnosis should be made in time to improve patient outcomes.

To providing evidence about nitrogen adequate application of Platycodon grandiflorum, the pot culture experiment was conducted to study the effect of nitrogen on the growth, physiological metabolism and the quality of P. grandiflorum. The activity of NR, GS and SOD, POD and CAT were determined. And the nitrate and ammonium nitrogen content, photosynthetic characteristics, active components of P. grandiflorum were determined. The results showed that the nitrate nitrogen content and P. biomass reached its maximum value, when NH4(+)-N/NO3(-) -N was 0: 100, the activity of NR. The activity of GS was the highest at the NH4(+) -N/NO3(-) -N ratio of 25:75 and ammonium nitrogen content was the highest at 75:25. The activity of SOD decreased and then increased with the increasing of NO3(-) -N. At the NH4(+) -N/NO3(-) -N ratio of 25: 75, the activity of CAT had its maximum value and the content of MDA had the minimum value. At the same time, the content of platycodon D was the highest at this treatment. The studies had shown that different nitrogen forms and ratio had a significant effect on the characteristics of photosynthetic physiology, nitrogen metabolism and resistance adjustment, growth and the quality of P. grandiflorum. The NH4(+) -N/NO3(-) -N ratio of 25: 75 was a suitable ratio of nitrogen forms for the growth of P. Grandiflorum and accumulating the content of platycodon D.

AIM: To elucidate the relationship between the intracellular calcium concentration changes and left ventricular hypertrophy and function in the spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). METHODS: Intracellular free calcium concentrations were measured by Fura 2 methodology and left ventricular function quantitated by cardiac catheterization in 20 SHR aged 10, 22, and 34 weeks and 20 age-matched Wistar-kyoto (WKY) rats. RESULTS: (1) The systolic blood pressure(SBP), intracellular calcium concentrations and left ventricular mass / body weight index ( LVM/BW) were significantly higher in all three age groups of SHR than the corresponding groups of WKY; (2) Compared with age-matched WKY groups, the peak left ventricular pressure descending rate(-d p /d t max ) decreased while left ventricular relaxation time constant (?)increased significantly in SHR aged 22 and 34 weeks. The peak left ventricular pressure ascending rate(d p /d t max ) and the left ventricular contractility index were significantly increased only in the 34 weeks SHR; (3) Intracellular calcium concentrations showed a positive correlation with LVM/BW,SBP,-d p /d t max and ?( r =0 47-0 83, P

Receptors are primary determinant of viral tropism and disease pathogenesis.Heparan sulfates (HS)are ubiquitous, polyanionic carbohydrate chains linked to core proteins in cell membranes and ex- tracellular matrices of all eukaryotes.HS have also been demonstrated to function as receptors or co-receptors for a number of different viruses. To date,HS and four RGD-dependent integrins,?v?3,?v?6, ?v?1,and?v?8 have been reported to serve as receptors for Foot-and-mouth disease virus(FMDV).Different receptors may be used to interact with host cells during FMDV infection.Studies on the structure and function of receptors are very important for understanding the interaction between host cells and FMDV. Here,We mainly reviews the progress on the biological characteristics of HS and its roles in FMDV infection.

Integrins are a family of cell surface glycoproteins that contribute to a variety of biological functions, including cell growth, migration, proliferation and morphology. In addition, integrins also play the important roles in pathological process. Several viruses have been showed to use integrins as receptors or co-receptors to infect host cells. This article mainly reviews the progress on integrins and their roles in FMDV infection.
