OBJECTIVETo explore incidence rate, influencing factors, leakage routes, and preventative measures of bone cement leakages in vertebral internal reinforcement operation including percutaneous vertebroplasty and percutaneous kyphoplasty.
METHODSFrom January 2010 to January 2012,94 patients with osteoporotic vertebral compressive fracture, vertebral metastases and vertebral hemangioma were treated by vertebral internal reinforcement operation. Among them, there were 39 males and 55 females aged 55 to 86 with an average of 69.4 years old. The reasons, types, incidence and complications of bone cement leakage were analyzed.
RESULTSTotally 21 patients (26 vertebral) occurred bone cement leakage, the main routes included basivertebral veins, and bone cortex, which mainly located on adjacent intervertebrae and around vertebral body, and most of them were asymptomatic leakage. For the treatment of OVCFs, incidence of bone cement leakage in PKP was lower than that of PVP (P < 0.05), while incidince of PVP in treating vertebral metastases was worse than in treating OVCFs (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONBone cement leakage is a common complication in PVP and PKP. Careful analysis before operation, cautiously monitors and grasp operation indication in operation can decrease incidence of it.

The vip3A gene of Bt9816C was cloned and the sequencing result was submitted to GenBank (accession no.AY945939). The gene was identified as a novel vip3Aa gene, which was assigned name vip3Aa18 by the Bacillus thuringiensis delta-endotoxin nomenclature committee. Subsequently, vip3Aa18 was expressed in Escherichia coli BL21 and bioassay demonstrated that the purified recombinant Vip3Aa18 had high toxicity against Helicoverpa armigera and Spodoptera exigua. The results of sequence analysis revealed that a carbohydrate binding domain exists on the C-termini 536 to 667 residues of Vip3Aa18,which maybe participate in binding to midgut receptors in susceptible insects. Moreover, a transmembrane helices located on N-termini 272 to 292 residues was proposed responding for pore formation. Furthermore, a putative disulfide bond was found in the Vip3Aa18 sequence. The specific structures and sites of Vip3Aa18 sequence imply potential function.

Objective To probe the effects of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-?B) on cell apoptosis and left ventricular segmental function in acute ischemia repeffusion in dogs.Method Twenty-four dogs were randomly divided into three groups:without left anterior artery (lAD) ligation group (C group),LAD was occluded 30 min following reperfusion 120 minutes in isehemical reperfusion group (IR group),and dogs were administered with PDTC before LAD ligation in ischemical reperfusion plus pyorrole dithitocarbamate group (PDTC group). The left ventricular segmental function was detected by echo cardiography using strain rate anlysis software.EF measured by Simpson's method.Cardiac myocyte apoptosis numbers were determined by terminal deoxynudeotidy transferease-mediated biotinylated deoxyuridine triphosphate nick end labeling (TUNEL).lmmunohistochemistry and western-blot anylysis of NF-?B protein expression. Results NF-?B was obviously expression on injury myocardium of IR group, and increased significantly in contrast to control group (P0.05)Conclusions NF-?B might play an important role in acute myocardial ischemia reperfusion.PDTC reduces myocardial iscbemia/repeffasion injury by preventing expression of factor NF-?B.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the rule of the rebuilding of binocular vision after surgery in strabismus for thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy.
METHODThe binocular vision was examined and compared in 30 patients before and after strabismus surgeries.
RESULTSThe strabismus degrees were 20-80(delta) before surgeries and 2-12(delta) after surgeries. As shown by synoptophores examinations, 19 patients (63.3%) had degree one before strabismus surgeries and the number increased to 28 (93.3%) after the surgeries. Synoptophore fusion area was 0-12(0) [mean (6.1 +/- 4.7)0] before strabismus surgeries and was 0-30(0) [mean (14.4 +/- 5.1)0] after the surgeries (P < 0.001). Nine patients (30%) had stereovision before strabismus surgeries, and the number increased to 22 (73.3%) after the surgeries. Pre-surgery stereoacuity was as follows: none < or = 60", 2 patients 80-200", and 4 patients 300-800"; while the post-surgery stereoacuity was as follows: 4 patients < or = 60", 6 patients 80-200", and 10 patients 300-800" (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONStrabismus surgeries for thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy can effectively improve ocular movement and rebuilt binocular vision.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the gene mutation in the areas of pre core/core (Pre C/C) and basic core promotor (BCP) of HBV DNA and its clinical significance.
METHODSThe nt 1 735-1 965 segment of HBV DNA was amplified with PCR in 54 cases with chronic hepatitis B and 10 cases with post-hepatitis cirrhosis. Then the PCR product was sequenced.
RESULTSThere were 168 site mutations in 48.5% (33/68) cases with hepatitis B. The first ten mutation sites were nt 1 764 (58.8%), 1 762 (48.5%), 1 799 (21.0%), 1 766 (14.7%), 1 896 (13.2%), 1 754 (8.8%), 1 899 (8.8%), 1 768 (7.4%), 1 814 (7.4%) and 1 913 (7.4%). Three rare mutations of nt 1907, 1 922 and 1 923 were also detected. The mutations of nt 1 896, 1 764 and 1 762 were found in 16.7%, 35.2% and 35.2% of chronic hepatitis, and in 30.0%, 60.0% and 60.0% respectively of post-hepatitis cirrhosis cases. There was statistical significance between the two groups (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONThe mutations in the areas of Pre C/C and BCP of HBV DNA might possibly be associated with liver fibrosis. There are many mutation sites in HBV DNA and mutation occurs frequently, therefore gene sequencing is helpful to the design of gene chip and to clinical application.

Objective:To determine the clinical features and genetic characters of patients with chronic enteropathy associated SLCO2A1 gene (CEAS). Methods:Five CEAS patients diagnosed at Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 2012 to December 2019 were enrolled in this study. The clinical manifestations, laboratory test, radiological and endoscopic findings, gene detections, treatments and prognosis of these patients were reviewed and analyzed. Results:Five male patients presented gastrointestinal symptoms after puberty, including abdominal pain, diarrhea, intermittent melena or hematochezia, incomplete bowel obstruction, anemia, hypoalbuminemia and hypokalemia. The whole gastrointestinal tract except esophagus could be involved, especially the stomach and ileum. Intestinal lesions were characterized by multiple shallow ulcers with stenosis in the layers of mucosa and submucosa. Five patients were all accompanied with primary hypertrophic osteoarthropathy (PHO), and 1 with myelofibrosis and thoracic duct dysplasia. All patients were homozygous or compound heterozygous mutations of SLCO2A1 gene. Conventional treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and COX-2 inhibitors were ineffective. Conclusions:CEAS is an autosomal recessive genetic disease which widely involves the gastrointestinal tract, and can be associated with skin and bone involvement. There is no effective treatment for CEAS at present. CEAS is a different entity from other inflammatory gastrointestinal diseases.
