3.Studies on the correlation between XRCC2 gene polymorphism and the susceptibility to lung cancer in population of North China
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1981;0(04):-
Objective To investigate the correlation between the polymorphism of XRCC2 gene,a DNA double-strand break repair(DDSBR)gene, and the susceptibility to lung cancer in population of North China. Methods By PCR-based restriction fragment length polymorphism(RLFP)technique(PCR-RLFP),a case-control study was performed among 300 patients with lung carcinoma and 300 healthy controls to detect XRCC2(C41657T)polymorphism.Results There was no significant difference in XRCC2(C41657T)allele frequencies between lung cancer patients and healthy controls(P=0.16).The C/C,C/T and T/T genotype frequencies were 72.7%,24.0% and 3.3% in lung cancer patients, and 76.3%,22.0% and 1.7% in healthy controls, respectively. There was no significant difference in C/C and C/T genotype frequencies between cancer patients and healthy controls(?2=0.48,P=0.48).However,the C/T genotype frequency in non-smoke group was significantly higher in lung cancer patients than in healthy controls(?2=6.67,P=0.01).The risk for lung cancer in non-smokers was 2.11 times higher in C/T genotype carriers than that in C/C genotype carriers. There was no significant difference in C/C and C/T genotype frequency between lung cancer patients and healthy controls in the smoke group(P=0.16).Conclusion Overall, there was no significant correlation between genetic polymorphism of XRCC2(C41657T)and the susceptibility to lung cancer. But the C/T genotype might increase the risk of suffering from lung cancer in no-smoking populations of Northern China.
4.Effect of penehyclidine on Toll-like receptor 4 mRNA and Toll-like receptor 2 mRNA expression in rats with acute lung injury induced by lipopolysaccharide
Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 2011;31(2):248-250
Objective To investigate the effect of penehyclidine (PHCD) on Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)mRNA and Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) mRNA expression in the lung tissue in rats with acute lung injury induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) .Methods Sixty healthy SD rats of both sexes weighing 200-220 g were randomly divided into 5 groups ( n = 12 each) :control group (group C) , LPS group and P1-3 groups. Acute lung injury was induced by intraperitoneal (IP) LPS 8 mg/kg in LPS and P1-3 groups. PHCD 0.3, 1.0 and 3.0 mg/kg were given IP after LPS administration in P1-3 groups. The animals were anesthetized at 6 h after IP LPS. Blood samples were collected for determination of serum TNF-α and IL-6 concentrations ( by ELISA) and then sacrificed, the lungs were immediately removed for determination of TLR4 mRNA and TLR2 mRNA expression (by RT-PCR), and microscopic examination. Results LPS significantly increased TLR4 mRNA and TLR2 mRNA expression in the lung tissue and serum TNF-α and IL-6 concentrations. PHCD 1.0 or 3.0 mg/kg significantly inhibited LPS-induced increase in TLR4 mRNA and TLR2 mRNA expression in the lung tissue and serum TNF-α and ILr6 concentrations. The lung histopathologic damage was significantly ameliorated in P2 and P3 groups as compared with group LPS.Conclusion PHCD can protect the lungs against LPS-induced acute lung injury through inhibiting TLR4 mRNA and TLR2 mRNA expression in the lung tissue and reducing the inflammatory response.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2011;29(10):931-935
Background Zero spherical aberration intraocular lenses(IOL)is designed to prevent the addition of positive spherical aberration after surgery.Research indicated that some positive spherical aberration can provide better depth distance of focus and pseudoaccommodation. Objective The present study was to compare the visual function and wavefront aberrations in pseudophakic eyes with zero spherical aberration IOL and spherical IOL.Methods A prespective case-controlled study was designed.Eighty eyes of 52 patients with age-related cataract were enrolled and divided into two matched groups based on random number table method. The regular phacoemulsification was performed on the eyes, and a zero spherical aberration IOL(Akreos AO)was implanted in the test group and a spherical IOL was used in the control group(Akreos Adapt IOL).The corrected distance visual acuity(CDVA),contrast sensitivity, depth of focus and wavefront aberrations were recorded and compared at 3 months after cataract surgery between these two groups. The trail was approved by the Ethic Committee of Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical College, and written informed consent was obtained from each patient prior to the program. Results The clinical demography from the two groups was matched(P > 0.05).There were no significant difference in the CDVA (LogM AR)(-0.03 ±0.08 versus-0.02+0.10)(t =-0.50,P =0.61)and in depth of focus(3.48± 1.07 DS versus 3.20±0.77 DS)(t =1.15,P=0.25)between the zero spherical aberration IOL group and the spherical IOL group. The contrast sensitivities under the mesopic condition at 12.0 c/d and mesopic with glare at 3.0,6.0,18.0 c/d were 12.42 ± 13.16,42.58 ±24.96,30.19± 25.64 and 3.03 ± 5.49 in the zero spherical aberration IOL group, and those in the spherical IOL group were 5.59 ± 8.11,28.74 ± 18.69,17.07 ± 19.35 and 0.22 ± 1.15 without significant differences between these two groups(P<0.05).Under the 5.0 mm pupil analyzing zone, the spherical aberration in zero spherical aberration IOL group was(0.13 ±0.07)μm,showing a significant reduction in comparison with spherical IOL group(0.21 + 0.07 μm)(P < 0.05).No evidently differences were found in total high-order aberration, coma aberration and trefoil aberration(P>0.05),but the sphere aberration was considerably lower in the zero spherical aberration IOL group compared with spherical IOL group(t=-4.19,P=0.00).Conclusions The visual quality of the eyes implanted zero spherical aberration IOL is significantly better than ones implanted with spherical IOL.

AIM:To observe and compare clinical effects of coaxial 1. 8mm microincision phacoemulsification and 3. 2mm small incision phacoemulsification.
●METHODS:A total of 117 eyes of 85 patients with age-related cataract in our hospital were divided randomly into two groups:43 patients (59 eyes) in the coaxial 1. 8 mm microincision cataract surgery group ( C - MlCS ) , 42 patients (58 eyes) in the coaxial 3. 2 mm traditional small incision cataract surgery group (C-SlCS). A total of 117 eyes were received phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation. Uncorrected visual acuity was recorded preoperatively and postoperatively at 1, 7, 30 and 90d. The effective phacoemulsification time and average ultrasound energy were recorded in surgery. Corneal endothelial cell and corneal topography were recorded preoperatively and postoperatively at 90 d.
●RESULTS:Uncorrected visual acuity ( logMAR) was no overall statistical significance difference between C-MlCS group and C-SlCS group (P>0. 05), but was significant statistical difference in different time-point within both groups(P<0. 05). Uncorrected visual acuity in different time-point had nothing to do with corneal wound size in cataract surgery(P>0. 05). On the 1 day after surgery, uncorrected visual acuity was 0. 16±0. 11 in C-MlCS group and 0. 22±0. 18 in C-SlCS group(P<0. 05). AVE was (7. 00± 2.72)% in C-MlCS group and (6. 16±3. 16)% in C-SlCS group (P>0. 05). EPT was (3. 09±1. 61)s in C-MlCS group and (3. 20±1. 92)s in C-SlCS group (P>0. 05). At 90 d after surgery, corneal endothelial cell loss percentage was (5. 81±2. 28)% in C-MlCS group and (5. 69±2. 38)% in C-SlCS group (P>0.05), SlA was (0.35±0.11) Din C-MlCS group and (0. 61±0. 13) D in C-SlCS group (P<0. 05).
● CONCLUSION: Compared with coaxial 3. 2mm traditional small incision cataract surgery, 1. 8mm coaxial microincision cataract surgery can get earlier visual rehabilitation and significantly reduce SlA. The coaxial 1. 8mm microincision cataract surgery is safe, effective and deserves further clinical applications.
