Objective To investigate the relationship between diastolic function of the left ventricle and common carotid artery (CCA) elasticity in patients with hypertension. Methods Forty-one primary hypertension patients and 31 healthy volunteers underwent echocardiography to obtain the indices of LV diastolic function and also echo tracking techniqne (ET) to obtain the CCA elasticity indices. The LV diastolic function indices included Ve (early diastolic peak velocity), Va (late diastolic peak velocity ), Ve/Va, Em (early diastolic mitral annular motive velicity), Am (late diastolic mitral annular motive velicity) and Em/Am. The indices of CCA elasticity included Ep (pressure-strain elasticity modulus), β(stiffness parameter), AC (arterial compliance), AI (augmentation index) and PWVβ (pulse wave velocity). Results Va was higher and Em, Ve/Va and Em/Am were lower in patients than that in the healthy , P<0.05. Ep and PWVβ were higher in patients,P<0.05. Am and Va were correlated positively with PWV β and Ep , respectively in patients, P<0.05. Ve/Va was correlated positively with AC, and negatively with PWV β, P<0.05 in patients. Em/Am was correlated negatively with β and PWV β in patients. Conclusions The LV diastolic function and common carotid artery elasticity were decreased in patients with hypertension. The decreased common carotid artery elasticity was along with the LV diastolic function decreased.

Objective To investigate students' view about the laboratory medicine curriculum and teaching reform, and to provide reference for further reform and development. Methods The students specialized in laboratory medicine in School of Medicine,Shanghai Jiaotong University were involved in the survey.Questionnaires were answered and analyzed. The research method of expert consultation was adopted. Results Students had some different opinions for course content, structure and so on,and they expected more clinical practice, more hands operation, and more teachers' guidance. Conclusion To train laboratory technicians,it was necessary to build a reasonable system of professional courses and train practical talents.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effects of nano-hydroxyapatite/polyamide 66 (n-HA/PA66) cage on recovering and maintaining lumbar curvature, lumbar heights and fusion rate when used in the transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion.
METHODSFrom February to July 2012, 50 patients with degenerative lumbar disease(lumbar disc herniation in 32 cases and lumbar spondylolisthesis in 18 cases) were treated with transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion using the n-HA/PA66 cage, and their preoperative and postoperative clinical outcomes were analyzed. The patients were followed up for 2, 4, 6 and 8 months after operation, during which the CR and CT film of lumbar vertebra were checked to get relative height of vertebral space, Taillard index, index of lumbar spinal curvature, angle of segmental and full lumbar lordosis. The data were analyzed respectively with pair t-test, analysis of variance or LSD-t-test.
RESULTSAll the patients were followed up, and the duraion ranged from 8 to 13 months, with a mean of 11.32 months. There were significant differences in relative height of vertebral space, Taillard index, index of lumbar spinal curvature, angle of segmental and full lumbar lordosis after surgery, but there were no significant differences in different periods after operation. The fusion time of lumbar ranged from 4 to 8 months.
CONCLUSIONThe n-HA/PA66 cage can recover and maintain lumbar normal stability with higher rate of fusion and less complications.

Objective To investigate the clinical teaching situation by using developmental inspection of School of Medicine,Shanghai Jiaotong University(SJTU-SM),and to put forward some suggestions. Methods By checking questionnaires and informal discussions, the relevant information was collected and analyzed by using SPSS statistics sofware. Results The clinical teaching quality of SJTU-SM was basically satisfied. The satisfaction from internship of grade 2004 was better than that of grade 2003.However,some problems in clinical teaching must be improved. Conclusion The investigation showed that the clinical teaching quality of SJTU-SM is being improving. However,in order to achieve the international accreditation standards, the quality guarantee system of clinical teaching need to be further perfected.

Objective To observe the characteristics of bone development and body development in 3-7 years old children with cerebral palsy. Methods 50 girls and 50 boys aged 3-7 years with cerebral palsy were included. Their height, weight, length of right and left upper extremities, and both hands bone age were measured by trained professionals. Results Their bone ages of both hands were 1 year younger than actual age (P<0.05), and there was no significant difference between right and left hand bone age (P>0.05). Their height growth was in line with the normal children, while the weight growth was a little different. Both sides of upper limbs growed synchronously, and slowed down with the time. There was no significant difference in both sides (P>0.05). Conclusion The bone development of children with cerebral palsy lags behind the life age. Their height growth is close to normal children. The development shows no no significant lateral dominance.

Objective To investigate the clinical and genetic characteristics of a case with non-classical 21-hydroxylase deficiency(210HD).Methods Clinical features and laboratory data were obtained from a patient with non-c]assical 21OHD,and the promoter and coding areas of CYP21 gene were sequenced. Results The old female patient presented with hypertension. The laboratory examinations showed that plasma androstenedione, testosterone, progesterone and 17-hydroxy progesterone(17OHP)were increased.CT scan revealed bilateral adrenal nodular enlargement.Furthermore, rapid ACTH stimulation test showed that the plasma 17OHP concentration was further increased up to 68.3?g/L.Sequencing analysis showed a C1187T(R356W) substitution at exon 8 and the C-125T,G-112A,T-109C variations in the promoter of CYP21 gene, which was not previous reported. Conclusion The combined heterozygous mutations,Cl187T at exon 8 and C-125T,G -112A,T-109C in promoter, seem to be associated with non-classical 21OHD phenotype.

Ventricular remodeling is one of the main causes of heart failure. A large number of studies have shown that inflammation plays an important role in the occurrence and development of ventricular remodeling. Recent studies found that chronic inflammation mediated by T cells is closely related to the progression of ventricular remodeling. This review summarized the recent research progress of T lymphocyte subsets in ventricular remodeling.
