Objective To select the optimal preparation technology of zucapsaicin cream and compare it with zuacta cream.Methods Cold stability,thermal stability,centrifugal stability,and appearance were used as indicators to select the ratio of prescription.In this study preparation technology was optimize by using orthogonal experiment method,and transdermal absorption of the homemade zucapsaicin cream and zucata cream were investigated by employing modified Franz diffusion pool.Results The optimized preparation technology was as follows,emulsifying temperature was maintained at 70 ℃,the stirring speed was set at 2 000 r·min-1,the main medicine was added into the oil phase,emulsifying time was 30 min.The results showed that there was no significant difference between the homemade zucapsaicin cream and the reference Zuacta cream.Conclusion The homemade zucapsaicin were tested to have reasonable ratio of prescription,stability,and definite transdermal effect,which was basically in accordance with zuacta cream.

Objective To evaluate the effect of fractional Er:YAG laser therapy on collagen and elastic fibers in photoaged skin of ultraviolet-irradiated Guinea pigs.Methods Sixty Guinea pigs were randomly divided into the non-intervention group (n =10) and model group (n =50) by a random number table.To establish a model of photoaging,the 50 Guinea pigs were irradiated by ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) on the back every other day for two months.Subsequently,the 50 mice were equally classified into five groups:photoaging group receiving no laser therapy,as well as 2-week,4-week,8-week and 12-week group receiving one,one,two and three sessions of successive multi-pulsed fractional Er:YAG laser therapy,respectively,on the left side (treatment side) of the back,with the right side as the control side.The interval of laser therapy was four weeks.Skin biopsies were obtained from the right and left side of the back of Guinea pigs after the laser therapy,and subjected to haematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining,Masson staining and Weigert-van Gieson staining.The content of hydroxyproline was measured by using an alkaline-hydrolysis method.Results The minimal erythema dose for UVA and UVB was 4224 mJ/cm2 and 504 mJ/cm2 respectively on Guinea pig skin.The model for photoaging was successfully established in 50 Guinea pigs after two months of irradiation with the cumulative dose of UVA and UVB being 459.36 J/cm2 and 54.81 J/cm2 respectively.HE staining revealed an obvious increase in newly-growing collagen and elastic fibers,which were arranged densely,in the treatment side compared with the control side of the back of Guinea pigs after laser therapy.The area ratio of collagen fibers stained positive for Masson's trichrome and content of hydroxyproline were significantly higher in the treatment side than in the control side of the 12-week group (0.70 ± 0.12 vs.0.63 ± 0.08,t =1.18,P ＜ 0.05;(4.73 ± 0.39) mg/g vs.(3.66 ± 0.85) mg/g,t =3.40,P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Successive multi-pulsed fractional Er:YAG laser irradiation can result in an increase in collagen fibers and renewal of elastic fibers in superficial dermis of photoaged skin of Guinea pigs.

ObjectiveTo investigate the value of a digital three-dimensional reconstruction technique in the treatment of hepatic alveolar echinococcosis (HAE).MethodsThe computed tomography scan data for 13 patients with HAE who were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from February 2011 to October 2011 were reconstructed and analyzed by a three-dimensional reconstruction system to assess resectability,and to facilitate surgical planning and individualized virtual surgery.The results of preoperative analysis were compared with the results of actual operations.ResultsThe three-dimensional models of the liver were reconstructed successfully,and intrahepatie lesions and vessels were clearly displayed.One patient received an autologous liver transplantation,10 underwent hepatectomy,and 2 received percutaneous transhepatic cholangial drainage.Virtual operation planning was carried out for 11 patients using the three-dimensional reconstruction system.The mean volume of the liver to be resected was predicted to be 920 ml (range,339-2678 ml),and the mean percentage of liver to be resected to the total liver volume was predicted to be 45％ ( range,23％ -68％ ).The mean volume o[ the actual liver resection was 834 ml (range,315-2250 m[),and the mean percentage of actual liver resected to the total liver volume was 42％ (range,22％ -70％ ),which was consistent with the results of preoperative three-dimensional reconstruction.All patients were followed up for 2-8 months,and no severe complications such as liver failure,hemorrhage and bile leakage were detected.ConclusionDigital three-dimen-sional reconstruction is helpful in the diagnosis and treatment of HAE and effectively reduces surgical risks.

· AIM:To investigate the prevalence and related factors of dry eye in primary school pupils in Lanzhou,Gansu Province.· METHODS:From October to November 2016,1347 pupils in two primary schools in Lanzhou,Gansu Province,were randomly selected as subjects.Every pupil was carried on the questionnaire of dry eye and eye inspection to confirm the diagnosis of dry eye.Besides,the prevalence and influencing factors of dry eye in pupils were analyzed by chi-square test,Mann-Whitney U test and logistic regression model.· RESULTS:A total of 1 268 pupils took part in this study and the inclusion ratio was 94.14％;271 individuals were diagnosed as dry eye,and the prevalence rate was 21.37％.Statistical analysis showed that the risk factors of dry eye were male,senior pupils,often using eye drops,poor reading habits,wearing contact lenses,video terminals last for a long time,learning pressure.· CONCLUSION:Dry eye has become one of the main diseases that plagued pupil's life and learning.It should cause wide attention.Considering the above factors,rational use of eye and improve lifestyle will help to reduce the damage to eye of pupils.

OBJECTIVESTo investigate the effects of Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser (RGDS) tetrapeptide on integrin signaling and apoptosis in fibronectin (FN) -stimulated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs).

METHODS3H-thymidine incorporation, annexin-V/propidium iodide double-labeled flow cytometry (FCM) and transmission electron microscopy were employed to estimate the influence of RGDS on the proliferation and apoptosis of HSCs. And the adhesion rates were observed by toluidine blue colorimetric assay. The expression of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) mRNA and protein in HSCs was detected using RT-PCR and western blotting analysis, respectively.

RESULTSRGDS tetrapeptide at the concentrations of 25 microg/ml, 50 microg/ml and 100 microg/ml inhibited the proliferation of HSCs and induced HSCs apoptosis in dose-dependent and time-dependent manners, with the apoptotic rates of 9.49%, 27.67%, 31.59%, and the necrotic rates of 3.47%, 5.38%, 9.10%, respectively. Both the rates were higher than those in FN group (apoptotic rate: 3.44%; necrotic rate: 2.39%), F=8.02, P<0.05. After adding RGDS tetrapeptide to HSCs for 2 hours, the adhesive inhibition rates were 8.82%, 29.41% and 45.59%, respectively, which were higher than that in FN group (F=20.58, P<0.01). After exposure of HSCs to RGDS tetrapeptide for 24 hours, FAK protein decreased, and FAK mRNA was down-regulated earlier, about 2 hours after exposure to RGDS tetrapeptide.

CONCLUSIONThese results suggest that RGDS tetrapeptide may induce apoptosis of HSC in both dose-dependent and time-dependent manners in vitro, which may be related to the disruption of cell matrix adhesion and down-regulation of FAK expression.

OBJECTIVETo search for a method for increasing clinical therapeutic effect of acute large area cerebral infarction.

METHODSNinety-six cases were randomly divided into a comprehensive treatment group and a western medicine group, 48 cases in each group. The western medicine group were treated with routine western methods, dehydration for decreasing intracranial pressure, brain-protection, anti-platelet agglutination, improving circulation and expectant treatment, etc.; the comprehensive treatment group were treated with the routine treatment of western medicine combined with acupuncture, moxibustion and enema of Chinese drugs. The therapeutic effect was observed after treatment for 28 days.

RESULTSThe total effective rate was 68.8% in the comprehensive treatment group and 39.6% in the western medicine group with a very significant difference between the two groups (P < 0.01), and the score of the National Institute of Health's Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and the score of the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) in the comprehensive treatment group were better than those in the western medicine group (P < 0.001, P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONCombined treatment of Chinese medicine and western medicine for large area cerebral infarction is better than simple western medicine, and it can significantly improve neurological defect of the patient and decrease death rate.

Bacillus are well known antibiotic producers. In this study,dozens of Bacillus strains from different sources were screened. Among them,a strain with strong antifungal activity was found. With 16S rDNA test and Biolog assay,this strain was identified to be Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. The fermentation conditions were optimized in small conical flasks. After ammonium sulfate salting out,dialysis,freezing vacuum dehydration,the crude protein extracts were obtained. The thermal stability,pH stability,protease stability,ion stability and antifungal spectrum of this protein were studied further. Scanning electronic microscope was also used to explore the antifungal mechanism.

BACKGROUNDVolumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) can only be implemented on the new generation linacs such as the Varian Trilogy® and Elekta Synergy®. This prevents most existing linacs from delivering VMAT. The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of using a conventional linear accelerator delivering constant dose rate and constant angular spacing intensity-modulated arc therapy (CDR-CAS-IMAT) for treating cervical cancer.

METHODSTwenty patients with cervical cancer previously treated with intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) using Varian Clinical 23EX were retreated using CDR-CAS-IMAT. The planning target volume (PTV) was set as 50.4 Gy in 28 fractions. Plans were evaluated based on the ability to meet the dose volume histogram. The homogeneity index (HI), target volume conformity index (CI), the dose to organs at risk, radiation delivery time, and monitor units (MUs) were also compared. The paired t-test was used to analyze the two data sets. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 19.0 software.

RESULTSCompared to the IMRT group, the CDR-CAS-IMAT group showed better PTV CI (0.85 ± 0.03 vs. 0.81 ± 0.03, P = 0.001), clinical target volume CI (0.46 ± 0.05 vs. 0.43 ± 0.05, P = 0.001), HI (0.09 ± 0.02 vs. 0.11 ± 0.02, P = 0.005) and D95 (5196.33 ± 28.24 cGy vs. 5162.63 ± 31.12 cGy, P = 0.000), and cord D2 (3743.8 ± 118.7 cGy vs. 3806.2 ± 98.7 cGy, P = 0.017) and rectum V40 (41.9 ± 6.1% vs. 44.2 ± 4.8%, P = 0.026). Treatment time (422.7 ± 46.7 s vs. 84.6 ± 7.8 s, P = 0.000) and the total plan Mus (927.4 ± 79.1 vs. 787.5 ± 78.5, P = 0.000) decreased by a factor of 0.8 and 0.15, respectively. The IMRT group plans were superior to the CDR-CAS-IMAT group plans considering decreasing bladder V50 (17.4 ± 4.5% vs. 16.6 ± 4.2%, P = 0.049), bowel V30 (39.6 ± 6.5% vs. 36.6 ± 7.5%, P = 0.008), and low-dose irradiation volume; there were no significant differences in other statistical indexes.

CONCLUSIONSPatients with cervical cancer treated with CDR-CAS-IMAT using Varian Clinical 23EX can get equivalent or superior dose distribution compared to those treated with IMRT. CDR-CAS-IMAT has a less treatment time and MU, which can reduce the uncertainty factor and patient discomfort in treatment.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the protection effects of electroacupuncture on injury of lipid peroxidation induced by liver ischemia in septic rats.

METHODSForty-eight male SD rats were subjected to sepsis induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP), and were randomly divided into a Sham operation group (group A), a CLP model group (group B), a CLP model plus electroacupuncture at "Zusanli" (ST 36) group (group C), a CLP model plus electroacupuncture at the shame acupoint (group D), a vagotomy plus CLP model group (group E) and CLP model plus electroacupuncture group after vagotomy (group F), 8 rats in each group. CLP was performed in group E and group F after the abdominal vagotomy. Bilateral "Zusanli"(ST 36) points and the shame acupoint were electroacupunctured (2 mA, 2/100 Hz) for 1 hour in group C, group F and group D, respectively. The hepatic blood flow (HBF) was detected by a laser-Doppler flowmetry at 6 h after CLP. The plasma activity of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) was also determined and specimens of liver were harvested for evaluation of malondialdehyde (MDA), xanthine oxidase (XOD) and assessment of the rate of water content.

RESULTSThe blood flow of the liver was (56.97 +/- 11.95) U in group C which was significantly lower than (80.12 +/- 19.57) U in group A but higher than (42.61 +/- 10.97) U in group B, (44.53 +/- 9.23) U in group D, (30.05 +/- 4.46) U in group E and (30.46 +/- 6.38) U in group F (all P < 0.05) 6 h after CLP. Meanwhile, the levels of MDA, XOD, ALT and the rates of water content in liver in group C were all significantly higher than those in group A, but lower than those in the other four groups (all P < 0.05). The levels of MDA, XOD, ALT and the rates of water content in liver in group E and group F were all significantly higher than those in group D (all P < 0.05), while the blood flow of the liver lower than that in group D (P < 0.05), and with no significant differences in all above measurements between group E and group F (all P > 0. 05).

CONCLUSIONElectroacupuncture at "Zusanli" (ST 36) can promote hepatic blood flow, inhibit lipid peroxidation and alleviate hepatic edema and dysfunction in septic rats, which might be related with the completeness of cranial nerve.

OBJECTIVETo explore the expressions of HO-2 and CO in the corpus cavernosum of castrated rats in order to further study the pathogenesis of erectile dysfunction (ED).

METHODSWe randomly divided 72 male SD rats into four groups: normal control, sham operation, castration, and castration + ZnPP. We detected intracavernous pressure (ICP) and penile erection in the basic condition and after apomorphine (APO) induction, determined the expression of the HO-2 protein in the corpus cavernosum by laser scanning confocal microscopy, and measured the level of CO by spectrophotometry during different periods of penile erection.

RESULTSThe ICP in the basic condition and that after APO induction and the rate of penile erection were decreased significantly in the castration group ([11.68 ± 0.69] mmHg, [54.81 ± 3.86] mmHg, and 33.3%) and the castration + ZnPP group ([11.20 ± 0.71] mmHg, [41.17 ± 5.41] mmHg, and 22.2%) as compared with the normal control ([22.83 ± 2.66] mmHg, [66.92 ± 7.77] mm-Hg, and 100%) and the sham operation group ([23.35 ±2.22] mmHg, [70.43 ?7. 22] mmHg, and 100%) (all P <0. 01). After APO induction, ICP in the castration + ZnPP group was remarkably reduced in comparison with that in the castration group (P < 0.01), and so was the expression of the HO-2 protein before and during penile erection in the castration (445.4 ± 23.7 and 847.4 ± 35.0) and the castration + ZnPP group (390.1 ± 29.7 and 526.0 ± 52.5) compared with the normal control (512.7 ±57.4 and 1145.2 ± 89.8) and the sham operation group (583.7 ± 8.0 and 1016.3 ± 79.8), the expression of the HO-2 protein significantly decreased in the castration group (445.4 ± 23.7 and 847.4 ± 35.0) (P < 0.05 or 0.01), markedly lower in the castration + ZnPP than in the castration group during penile erection (P < 0.01) but with no significant differences among the four groups after it. Before, during and after penile erection, the levels of CO were remarkably decreased in the castration ([20.59 ± 1.01], [32.53 ± 1.26], and [18.71 ± 1.22] x 10(-7) nmol/L) and the castration +ZnPP group ([12.52 ± 1.05], [21.90 ± 1.02], and [16.56 ± 0.55] x 10(-7) nmol/L) as compared with the normal control ([26.76 ± 1.41], [48.25 ± 1.01], and [27.10 ± 1.58 ] x 10(-7) nmol/L) and the sham operation group ([25.41 ± 2.09], [ 47.90 ± 1.22], and [25.67 ± 1.20] x 10(-7) nmol/L) (P < 0.05 or 0.01), significantly lower in the castration + ZnPP than in the castration group during penile erection (P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONDecreased expressions of HO-2 and CO may correlate with erectile dysfunction in castrated rats.
