Objective To analyze the etiology in pancreatic pseudocyst (PPC). Methods Medical records were reviewed and analyzed for 366 PPC patients who were admitted in Changhai hospitals from April 2000 to December 2009 in terms. Demographic data, etiology and primary disorders of PPC patients were recorded. Results The causes of 366 patients varied as follow: gallstones in 158 patients (43.2%);idiopathic in 79 (21.6%); alcohol in 50 (13.7%); trauma in 17 (4.6%); pancreatic tumor in 9 (2.5%);hyperlipidemia in 8 (2.2%); post-operative in 7 (1.9%), other in 38 (10.3%). Depending on Atlantes classification systerm the PPCs were classified into acute PPC in 204 patients (64.2%), chronic PPC in 98 patients (30.8%) and abscess in 16 patients (5.0%). The 4 most common causes of acute PPC were gallstones, idiopathic, alcohol and trauma; the 3 most common causes of chronic PPC were gallstones,idiopathic, alcohol. Conclusions Gallstones is the main etiologic cause of the PPCs in China, followed by idiopathic and alcohol, which is significantly different with that in Western countries.

Objective To investigate the effects of galantamine on the myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats and the possible mechanism.Methods Fifty male SD rats weighing 225-275 g were randomly assigned into 5 groups (n =10 each):sham operation group (group SH); I/R group; galantamine + I/R group (group GAL); M receptor antagonist atropine + galantamine + I/R group (group AT); vagus nerve cut-off + galantamine + I/R group (group VGT).Myocardial I/R was induced by occlusion of left anterior descending branch of coronary artery for 30 min followed by 120 min reperfusion.Normal saline 2 ml/kg was slowly injected via the femoral vein at 30 min before ischemia in groups SH and I/R.Galantamine 4 mg/kg was slowly injected via the femoral vein at 30 min before ischemia in group GAL.Atropine 4 mg/kg was slowly injected via the femoral vein at 45 min before ischemia in group AT and the other procedures were the same as those in group GAL.Bilateral cervical vagus nerves were cut off at 45 min before ischemia in group VGT and the other procedures were the same as those in group GAL.At the end of reperfusion,the hearts were removed for determination of myocardial infarct size,MPO and SOD activities,and MDA contents.Results The myocardial infarct size was significantly larger,the MPO activity and MDA content were significantly higher,and the SOD activity was significantly lower in group I/R than in group SH,and in groups AT and VGT than in group GAL (P ＜ 0.05).The myocardial infarct size was significantly smaller,the MDA content and MPO activity were significantly lower,and the SOD activity was significantly higher in group GAL than in group I/R P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Galantamine has protective effect on myocardium against I/R injury and regulation of peripheral vagus nerve tension may be involved in the mechanism.

OBJECTIVE:To observe clinical efficacy and safety of recombinant human interleukin-11 (rhIL-11) in the treat-ment of chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia. METHODS:86 patients with thrombocytopenia induced by chemotherapy were selected and divided into control group and observation group according to random number table,with 43 cases in each group. Con-trol group was given platelet transfusion 10 IU,once every 2-3 d;observation group was given Recombinant human IL-11 for injec-tion 25-50 μg/kg,qd. Both groups received treatment for 14 d. Clinical efficacies of 2 groups were observed as well as platelet count before and after treatment. The duration of platelet decrease and recovery,the occurrence of ADR were compared between 2 groups. RESULTS:The total effective rate of observation group was 81.40%,which was significantly higher than 62.79% of con-trol group,with statistical significance (P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in platelet count between 2 groups before treatment(P>0.05);after treatment,platelet count of 2 groups increased significantly,and the observation group was significant-ly higher than the control group,with statistical significance(P<0.05). The duration of platelet count <50×109 L-1,the time of platelet count recovering to 70×109 L-1 and 100×109 L-1 in observation group were significantly shorter than in control group,with statistical significance(P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in the incidence of ADR between 2 groups(P>0.05). CON-CLUSIONS:rhIL-11 shows good therapeutic efficacy in the treatment of chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia,and can signifi-cantly improve platelet count,shorten the duratione of platelet decrease and recovery with good safety.

Objective To explore the clinical and histopathological features of Barrett esophagus and its related adenocarcinoma as well as the relationship between them.Methods From January 2002 to January 2012,the clinical data of 35 patients with Barrett esophagus,850 patients with esophagus cancer and 218 patients with esophageal-gastric junction cancer were collected,and the histopathological features of all the patients and the follow-up in patients with Barrett esophagus were retrospectively analyzed.Results Among 35 patients with Barrett esophagus,six cases(17.1 ％) had specialized intestinal metaplasia and all of them did not develop into esophageal adenocarcinoma or Siewert type Ⅰ esophageal-gastric junction cancer.Among 850 patients with esophageal cancer,794 cases (93.4％) were squamous carcinoma,19 cases (2.2％) were small cell carcinoma,seven cases (0.8％) were adenocarcinoma.And besides,there were adenosquamous carcinoma,basaloid squamous carcinoma,carcinosarcoma,and neuroendocrine carcinoma.Among 218 patients with esophageal gastric junction cancer,nine cases (4.1％) were Siewert type Ⅰ,150 cases (68.8％) were Siewert type Ⅱ,59 cases (27.1％) were Siewert type Ⅲ.A total of 180 cases (82.6％) were adenocarcinoma and others were signet ring cell carcinoma,mucous adenocarcinoma,squamous carcinoma,adenosquamous carcinoma,small cell carcinoma,neuroendocrine carcinoma,carcinoid and spindle cell carcinoma.Conclusions Specialized intestinal metaplasia is rare in patients with Barrett esophagus in China,and the probability of Barrett esophagus developing into adenocarcinoma is low.Barrett esophagus related adenocarcinoma such as esophageal adenocarcinoma and Siewert type Ⅰ esophageal-gastric junction cancer is rare.

To explore the new method of discriminating Cistanche deserticola, Cynomorium songaricum and Orobanche pycnostachya by using PCR amplification of specific alleles. 30 samples of the different C. deserticola, 21 samples of C. songaricum and O. pycnostachya were collected. The total DNA of the samples were extracted, the ITS sequences from C. deserticola, C. songaricum and O. pycnostachya were amplified by PCR and sequenced unidirectionally. These sequences were aligned by using ClustulW. Specific primer was designed according to the ITS sequences of specific alleles, and PCR reaction system was optimized. Additionally, compare with the identification of specific PCR method and DNA sequence analysis method. The result showed that the 331 bp identification band for C. deserticola and the adulterants not amplified bands by a single PCR reaction, which showed good identification ability to the three species. PCR amplification of specific alleles can be used to identify C. deserticola, C. songaricum and O. pycnostachya successfully.

Objective The combination of vasopressin and epinephrine has long been thought to be more effective then epinephrine alone in cardiopulrnonary resuscitation (CPR), evidence is not enough to make such a clinical recommendation. This meta-analysis compared the efficacy of vasopressin and epinephrine used together versus epinephrine alone in cardiac arrest (ca) in order to verify the truth. Method MEDLINE and EMBASE were searched for the data of randomized trials in comparing the results of co-administration of vasopressin and epinephrine with epinephrine alone in adults with cardiac arrest. The primary outcome was the restoration of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). Results Six randomized trials in 485 articles were analyzed. We failed to get the results supporting the effectiveness of this combination therapy, except for the rate of 24 hours survival (OR: 2.99,95%CI:1.43 ~ 6.28). No evidence supported that vasopressin combined with epinephrine was better than epinephrine alone in ROSC. Conclusions This systematic review indicates the combination of vasopressin and epinephrine is better for the rate of 24 hpurs survival in only 122 patients. Further investigation is needed to support the use of combination therapy for cardiac arrest.

Objective To investigate the clinic effect of Linezolid for community acquired methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRS A) pneumonia. Methods The clinic data of the patient- were collected from the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University, in addition, the body temperature and white blood cell counts were obtained as the index of treatment. Results It was proved that Linezolid was effective in treating community acquired MRSA pneumonia and showed well tolerance with few adverse events. Conclusion Linezolid demonstrated good clinical and antibacterial activity but very few adverse reactions in elderly patients with community acquired MRSA pneumonia.

Objective To investigate the biological effects of exosomes secreted by KYSE410 cells on migration and invasion of KYSE410,KYSE510,YES2 cells and the possible mechanisms underlying the phenotype change.Methods The exosomes were isolated from the conditional supernatant of esophageal cancer cell line KYSE410 by ultracentrifugation.The morphology of exosomes was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM).Western blotting was used to detect the protein markers of exosomes.The uptaken of fluorescence-labeled KYSE410 exosomes by KYSE410,KYSE510 and YES2 was also recorded under confocal microscopy.Migration and invasion ability of the three esophageal carcinoma cell lines and the effects of exosomes from KYSE410 on migration and invasion of KYSE410,KYSE510 and YES2 cells were analyzed by Transwell chamber,respectively.The alteration of Wnt/β-catenin and PI3K/Akt pathway-related proteins were detected by Western blotting.Results The membrane structure of KYSE410 derived exosomes could be observed with its diameter ranged between 30-100nm.The invasion and migration ability of three esophageal cancer cells are KYSE410＞ KYSE510＞ YES2.KYSE410 exosomes promoted the migration and invasion of KYSE410,KYSE510 and YES2 cells.Conclusions Concentrated exosomes derived from the highly migratory and invasive esophageal cancer cell line KYSE410 promoted the migration and invasion potentials of itself and esophageal cancer cell lines KYSE510 and YES2,which possibly exerted the effects by activating Wnt/β-catenin and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways.

A new steroid with a long cross-conjugation structure, 15a-hydroxy-(22E, 24R)-ergosta-3, 5, 8 (14), 22-tetraen-7-one (1), was isolated from the marine-derived fungus Aspergillus aculeatus. Its structure was established by the extensive spectroscopic analyses, and its cytotoxicities against P388, HL-60, and PC-3 cell lines were measured in vitro.

In this paper, Liuwei Dihuang pill was used to study the identification of Chinese patent medicine by fluorescence sequencing typing technology. The DNA of Paeonia suffruticosa was used as template to amplify by five pair of FAM fluorescence labeling primers. Then, the amplified products were sequenced. The sequencing results were analyzed by GeneMarker V1.80 to screen the best fluorescence labeling primers. As a result, psbA-trnH fluorescence labeling primer was used to identify the raw materials of Liuwei Dihuang pill. The results showed that three kinds of raw plant medicinal materials in Liuwei Dihuang pill were able to be correctly identified by psbA-trnH fluorescence labeling primer. The fluorescence sequencing typing technology can stably and accurately distinguish raw medicinal materials in Chinese patent medicine.
