To study the identification of Gentianaceae Mongolian medicine Digeda with spectroscopy techniques, near infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry techniques were applied to study on the identification of 4 kinds of Gentianaceae Mongolian medicine Digeda, and characteristic spectrums obtained were systematically analyzed. In NIR study, the four species of Digeda exist some differences in 4 250-4 400 cm(-1) and 5 650-5 800 cm(-1) of one-dimensional spectra, and show significant differences in 4 100- 4 400 cm(-1), 4 401-4 900 cm(-1) and 5 400-5 800 cm(-1) of the second derivative spectra. DSC curves of them present distinct topological pattern, characteristic peak and peak temperature. Using near infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry analysis can realize efficient and accurate identification of four kinds of Mongolian medicine Digeda, and provide scientific basis for the efficient and accurate identification of other Gentianaceae Mongolian medicine Digeda.

Objective To study the effects of semiconductor laser irradiation and high voltage static electric fields on small vessel damage in diabetic rats.Methods Fifty healthy male Wistar rats were randomly divided into two groups:8 rats in a normal group and 42 in a diabetic model group.The diabetic models were created by intrape- ritoneal injection of streptozocin.The diabetic model rats were randomly divided into four subgroups:a diabetes group,a semiconductor laser treatment group,a high voltage static electric field treatment group and a comprehensive treatment group receiving combined semiconductor laser and high voltage static electric field exposure.The rats in each treatment group were subjected to the corresponding intervention.After 20 days of treatment,the venous blood, kidney tissue and myocardium tissue of the rats were collected,and the concentrations of blood glucose,insulin,en- dothelin and tissue were detected.Results Compared with the normal group,a significant increase in blood glu- cose and endothelin was observed in the diabetic model group,along with significantly decreased blood insulin and significant small vessel endothelium proliferation in the kidney tissue.Compared with the diabetes group,endothelin levels were significantly lower in all 3 treatment groups,and blood insulin was also higher in the comprehensive treat- ment group.Conclusion There were severe abnormalities in blood glucose,insulin and endothelin as well as mild impairment of small vessel endothelium proliferation in the diabetic rats.Semiconductor laser and high voltage static electric field exposure have a role in treating and preventing these conditions in diabetic rats.

OBJECTIVETo measure and assess the quality of life (QOL) and to explore the influencing factors on patients with malignant lymphoma.

METHODSQOL of 110 patients with malignant lymphoma were marked using EORTC QLQ-C30 short form, and multiple linear regression models were used to study the main factors influencing the QOL of patients with malignant lymphoma on five functional scales (physical, role, cognitive, emotional, and social) and the total scores.

RESULTSThe influencing factors of quality of life on patients with malignant lymphoma appeared to be: history of relapse, refraining from smoking, older age, educational level, space for living, exercises, medical care system, and available health care programs. Relapse (beta = 5.997, P= 0.020) and refraining from smoking (beta = -6.526, P= 0.006) were associated with total QOL scores, educational level (beta = -2.144, P= 0.057), History of relapse (beta = 5.857, P = 0.003) was associated with total functional scales while exercises (beta= -0.771, P = 0.097) and refraining from smoking (beta= -4.106, P = 0.005) were with physical scales, refraining from smoking (beta = -4.644,P = 0.008) and older age (beta = 0.989, P= 0.029) were with role scales, relapse (beta = 14.035, P= 0.001) and older age (beta = 2.230, P= 0.023) were with cognitive scales, relapse (beta = 8.500, P= 0.031) and living space (beta = - 3.054, P= 0.0901) were with emotional scales and medical care system and available health care programs (beta = -6.577, P= 0.018) were with social scales respectively.

CONCLUSIONFactors as prevention of relapse, correct cognition on malignant lymphoma, reasonable exercise, refrain from bad habits, improving medical care system could all increase the functions of malignant lymphoma patient, and to improve their quality of life.

OBJECTIVE To study the clinic feature and cause of misdiagnosis of early stage syphilis and evaluate the significance of histopathology in the diagnosis of the disease. METHODS Totally 1 200 early syphilis cases were analyzed.The serologic test for syphilis was performed.Thirty five of them were performed with histopathological examination. RESULTS The primary syphilis was found to be commonly misdiagnosed as chancroid,genital herpes,scabies nodules and ulcus vulvae acutum.For secondary syphilis,macular syphilide and maculopapular syphilide were easily misdiagnosed as pityriasis rosea or dermatitis.The papulosquamous syphilide was commonly misdiagnosed as psoriasis.The condyloma latum was commonly misdiagnosed as condyloma acuminatum. CONCLUSIONS The serologic test is important in diagnosis of primary syphilis.The histopathologic test plays a role in diagnosis of primary syphilis,condyloma latum and papulosquamous syphilide,but of limited value in diagnosis of macular syphilide.

It is important to forecast incidence rates of infectious disease for the development of a better program on its prevention and control. Since the incidence rate of infectious disease is influenced by multiple factors, and the action mechanisms of these factors are usually unable to be described with accurate mathematical linguistic forms, the radial basis function (RBF) neural network is introduced to solve the nonlinear approximation issues and to predict incidence rates of infectious disease. The forecasting model is constructed under data from hepatitis B monthly incidence rate reports from 1991-2002. After learning and training on the basic concepts of the network, simulation experiments are completed, and then the incidence rates from Jan. 2003-Jun. 2003 forecasted by the established model. Through comparing with the actual incidence rate, the reliability of the model is evaluated. When comparing with ARIMA model, RBF network model seems to be more effective and feasible for predicting the incidence rates of infectious disease, observed in the short term.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2)-siRNA on the inflammatory response of rat cardiomyocytes (H9C2) induced by septic serum and to investigate the possible role of UCP2 in the development of septic cardiomyopathy.

METHODSSerum samples were separately collected from normal rats and septic rats. Cultured rat cardiac cells (H9C2) were randomly divided into blank control, normal serum, 10% septic serum, UCP2-siRNA+10% septic serum and negative siRNA+10% septic serum groups. Stimulation with 10% septic serum was performed for 12 hours in relevant groups. The mRNA expression of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) was measured by RT-PCR. The expression of phosphorylated p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p-p38 MAPK) and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) was measured by Western blot.

RESULTSThe expression levels of p-p38 and NF-κB in the UCP2-siRNA+10% septic serum group were significantly higher than in the 10% septic serum group (P<0.05). The UCP2-siRNA+10% septic serum group had a significantly higher TNF-α mRNA expression than the 10% septic serum group (P<0.01), but IL-1β mRNA expression showed no significant difference between the two groups.

CONCLUSIONSUCP2 plays a regulatory role in the activation of p38 MAPK and NF-κB and the expression of downstream inflammatory mediators in H9C2 cells stimulated with septic serum.

Objective To analyze the impact of parental Metabolic Syndrome(MS)on adolescents,and to explore the familial aggregation of MS with its components.Methods Using a 1:3 case-control familial study design to choose 26 MS male patients as proband and 78 healthy men as controls.Data regarding phenotype of their adolescence offspring were collected.Height,weight,waist circumference(WC),blood pressure,body mass index(BMI),waist-to-hip ratio(WHR)and waist-to-height ratio(WHtR)were measured or calculated.FPG,TC,TG,HDL-C and LDL-C were detected by automatic biochemical analyzer and hs-CRP was detected.Results WC,WHtR,WHR,DBP and hs-CRP of those adolescents with paternal MS were significantly higher than in controls(P＜0.05).Rates of MS,Obesity depend WC,low level of HDL-C of adolescent with paternal MS were significantly higher than in controls(P＜0.05).The rate of number on MS was significantly higher in case group than in control(r=0.231,P＜0.05).Conclusion The phenotypes of MS were different between adolescents with or without parental MS,indicating that the familial aggregation of MS had been existed in their adolescent offspring,and mainly presented in central obesity,increased blood pressure and inflammation.

Objective To study the sero-epidemiological starus regarding Rickettsia (R.) typhi,Bartonella (B.) henselae and Orientia (O.) tsutsugamushi in farmers from rural areas of Tianjin.Methods Field epidemiological surveys were performed in 8 districts (county) of Tianjin city from 2007 to 2009.886 farmers were randomly recruited and their serum samples collected to detect the specific antibodies of R.typhi,B.henselae and O.tsutsugamushi by micro-indirect immunoflorescence (IFA).Results The total antibody positive rates of R.typhi increased from 5.0% to 58.2% while B.heaselae had an increase from 2.6% to 14.5% and O.tsutsugamushi increased from 1.8% to 39.8%.Geographic distribution showed that farmers living in the central and southeast areas were higher than that in other areas.Conclusion Infections of both R.typhi,B.henselae and O.tsutsugamushi in farmers from Tianjin areas were popular and the antibody positive rates ofR.typhi,B.henselae and O.tsutsugamushi had an annual increase.

Objective To study the influence of nasal irrigations on the postoperative curative effect of patients with chronic sinusitis.Methods Total of 357 patients who suffered from chronic sinusitis received transnasal endoscopic surgery from 2008 to 2010 with 184 patients selecting nasal irrigations for the following treatments.Patients were followed up at two weeks,six weeks and four months after the surgeries via telephone.The symptoms of nasal obstruction,nasal discharge and headache were recorded and SNOT-20 was used to measure the quality of life.Results Symptoms of patients were improved,but improvement in nasal irrigations group was better than that in non-nasal irrigations group.Four months later,the average symptom score of nasal obstruction in nasal irrigations group was [0(0,1 )] which was significantly lower than [ 0( 0,1 )] in non-nasal irrigations group ( Z =- 3.176,P ＜ 0.05).The average symptom score of nasal discharge in nasal irrigations group was [0(0,2)] which was significantly lower than [0(0,2)] in non-nasal irrigations group (Z =- 4.403,P ＜ 0.05 ).The average score of headache was [ 0 ( 0,1 ) ] in nasal irrigations group and [ 0 (0,2) ] in non-nasal irrigations group,and the difference was statistically significant ( Z =- 4.539,P ＜ 0.05 ).Conclusions Nasal irrigations can improve symptoms of patients with chronic sinusitis and reduce the rectrrence.
