Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of Chushi Huowei Decoction in treating inflammation of gastric relict of spleen-stomach damp heat type. Methods Totally 62 patients with inflammation of gastric relict were divided into treatment group and control group with random number table, 31 patients in each group. The control group was given hydrotalcite and the treatment group was treated by adding of Chushi Huowei Decoction. After eight-week treatment, the clinical efficacy, gastric mucosal lesions efficacy, and gastric mucosal pathology efficacy of the two groups were compared. Results Eight-weeks later, traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores of both groups were obviously lower than those before treatment (P<0.01). And the decrease in the treatment group was more obvious than that in the control group (P<0.01). Curative effects of gastric mucosal lesions and pathologic condition in treatment group were better than those in the control group (P<0.05, P<0.01). Neither groups had any adverse reaction. Conclusion Chushi Huowei Decoction has reliable therapeutic effect and safety in treating inflammation of gastric relict of spleen-stomach damp heat type.

Journal of Forensic Medicine 2014;30(1):1-12
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the injury mechanism of the human knee in a traffic accident by establishing a 3D finite element (FE) model.
METHODS:
The FE model, composed of femur, tibia, fibula, patella, meniscus, knee ligaments and surrounding soft tissues, was reconstructed by CT scanning data from a male volunteer. Validation was performed by the lateral impact simulation, and the stress and strain results were obtained to be compared with those previously reported for injury prediction.
RESULTS:
The results derived from the FE model were found to be similar with those previously reported, most of the ligaments and meniscus wounded at 40 m/s collision, which was readily observed.
CONCLUSION
The simulation results generated by FE model can be effectively used for the injury mechanism analysis of initial contact.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Jinhuang Fuzheng powder on cytokines of immunosuppressive mice by using protein antibody micro-array.
METHODThe immunosuppressive mice model was established by subcutaneously injecting cyclophosphamide. Rats were orally administered with low, middle and high dose of Huangjin Fuzheng powder for 10 days, and fasted for 12 hours after the final administration. 1 mL blood was drawn from caudal veins and isolated hearts of rats of each group. A quantitative test was conducted for cytokines with cytokine antibody array.
RESULTCompared with the control group, IFN-gamma and RANTES of the CTX group decreased significantly (P<0.05). After the administration, IFN-gamma of low, middle and high-dose groups, and RANTES of the high-dose group increased significantly (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, IL-5, IL-6, IL-9, IL-13 and MCP-1 of the CTX group increased remarkably (P<0.01, P<0.05). After the administration, IL-5, IL-6, IL-9, IL-13 and MCP-1 of low, middle and high-dose groups decreased to varying degrees. GM-CSF, IL-1alpha, IL-1beta, IL-2, IL-3, IL-4, IL-10, IL-12, IL-17, M-CSF, TNF-alpha, KC and VEGF of the 13 types of cytokines showed no significant change.
CONCLUSIONJinhuang Fuzheng powder shows effect on 20 types of cytokines of immunosuppressive mice to varying degrees, which may be related to the regulatory immunosuppression of Th1/Th2 subgroup in mice.

Objective To assess the prevalence and risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) in Chinese adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) using electron beam computed tomography (EBCT) and EBCT angiography (EBCTA). Methods: Ninety-four cases were enrolled in this study including diabetes (n=28), impaired glucose tolerance (IGT, n=30), coronary heart disease (CHD, n=11), and control (n=25). Cardiac EBCT plain scanning and EBCTA were performed on all of these subjects to evaluate coronary artery calcification (CAC) scores, and number of segments of stenosed coronary arteries. Both CAC and/or coronary artery stenosis were defined as patients with coronary artery lesions (CAL). Results CAC scores were not different with the control, diabetes, IGT, or CHD (P>0.05)groups. Compared to control (0.520±1.295), more stenosed coronary arteries segments (P<0.05) were detected in diabetes (2.964±1.915), IGT (2.200±2.024), and CHD (2.273±1.679). Number of stenosed artery segments were correlated with age (r=0.215, P=0.019),postprandial glucose (r=0.224, P=0.015), total cholesterol (r=0.323, P=0.000), and duration of diabetes (r=0.208, P=0.004). The incidences of CAL in diabetes (96.43%), IGT (93.33%), and CHD (90.91%) was substantially higher than that in normal control (56.00%, P<0.01).The odds ratio of CAL associated with having diabetes was estimated to be 7.514 (95% CI: 1.885-63.778). Conclusions Coronary artery lesions are prevalent in Chinese adults with type 2 diabetes, implying a high CAD risk. EBCTA holds potential in depicting the details of CAL and can be used to track the progression of CAD in diabetes patients.

Objective To observe the effects of comprehensive measures of changing grain, selenium supplementation,off-site education and resettlement on prevention of children's Kashin-Beck disease in Aba state. Methods Fifty eight villages in Aba Kashin-Beck disease areas were chosen as intervention points in Aba state Sichuan province from 2007 to 2011.Based on the implementation of prevention and control measures, the villages were divided into off-site education + changing grain + selenium supplementation group and resettlement + off-site education + changing grain + selenium supplementation group,Geletuo town of Seda county,Ganzi state was selected as a control point, and right-hand anteroposterior X-ray examination(including the wrist) was carried out on children aged 6-13 from 2007 to 2011 annually.Clinical and X-ray diagnosis of Kashin-Beck disease was made in accordance with the Diagnostic Criteria of Kaschin-Beck Disease(GB 16003-1995).The effects of prevention and control measures were evaluated by comparing the child X-ray detection rate before and after the implementation of the measures. Results The average X-ray positive detectable rate of children in the intervention points was 2.07%(66/3181),2.72% (69/2540),1.16% (35/3017),0.56% (19/3397) and 0.56% (24/4273),respectively from 2007 to 2011,with a downward trend (x2trend =66.74,P < 0.01).There was a downward trend in the average X-ray positive detectable rate of children in off-site education + changing grain + selenium supplementation group [1.60%(29/1809),2.63% (39/1484),1.29% (25/1941),0.64% (15/2332),0.42% (10/2379)] and resettlement + off-site education + changing grain + selenium supplementation group [2.70% (37/1372),2.84% (30/1056),0.93%(10/1076),0.38% (4/1065),0.74%(14/1894)] (x2trend=30.97,35.19,all P < 0.01).The average X-ray positive detectable rate of children in the intervention group was 0 from 2007 to 2010,and was 1.61% (1/62) in 2011.The difference of X-ray positive detectable rate was not statistically significant in the control group in the 5 years from 2007 to 2011.The difference of children's X-ray positive detectable rate was not statistically significant between control group and intervention group. Conclusions The effect of taking changing grain, selenium supplementation,off-site education and resettlement comprehensive measures to prevent children's Kashin-Beck disease is not significant in those places where the state of Kaschin-Beck disease is not active.
