Objective To evaluate the toxicity of intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide on the cornea, lens, ciliary body and retina in rabbit eyes. Methods Thirty-two gray rabbits were divided into four groups(n=8).The rabbits were intravitreally injected with buffered saline solution(control group),4 mg triamcinolone acetonide(group B),1.3 mg triamcinolone acetonide(group C) and vehicle(group D).Intraocular pressure, scotopic and photopic electroretinogram examinations were performed before injection and at different time points after injection.Histologic and ultrastructural changes were observed 1 week,1 month and 3 months after injection. Results Compared with the other groups, the intraocular pressure of group B was significantly increased on day 1,week 1 and week 2 after injection(P

There are three kinds of molecular targeted antitumor drugs: inhibitors of membrane?associated therapeutic targets, inhibitors of intracellular signaling pathways, and immunomodulators. Inhibitors of membrane?associated therapeutic targets include epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRIs), KIT and BCR?ABL inhibitors, antiangiogenic agents and multikinase inhibitors. Inhibitors of intracellular signals include inhibitors of the RAS?RAF?MEK?ERK pathway, PI3K?AKT?mTOR pathway and Hedgehog signaling pathway. Inhibitors of cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated?antigen(CTLA) and programmed death 1 (PD?1) belong to immunomodulatory agents. Cutaneous adverse effects of different molecular targeted antitumor drugs share some common features, but also differ from each other. Most of the side effects are dose?dependent and reversible. Management strategies should be adjusted according to the severity of skin eruptions. Dose tapering and even discontinuation of antitumor drugs are necessary for very severe cases, but for mild ones, symptomatic treatment might be enough. This article reviews cutaneous adverse reactions to molecular targeted therapy as well as their prevention and management.

Objective To investigate nursing cooperation during gastric coronary vein embolization procedure with NBCA glue. Methods Perioperative nuusing experience in 36 hepatic cirrhosis patients complicated with esophagus-gastric fundus vein varicose rupture and hemorrhea who had undergone gastric coronary vein embolization procedure was retrospectively summarized. Results Operations in all 36 cases had been successful, with no severe complication due to inadequate nursing cooperation. Conclusions Gastric coronary vein embolization operation utilizing NBCA glue is a safe and effective method of hemostasis, skilled and elaborative nursing cooperation is an important component ensuring a smooth and effective operation.

Objective To discuss the application effect of health care failure mode and effect analysis in quality control of polysomnngraphy. Methods The health care failure mode and effect analysis were applied to analyze the process of polysomnngraphy, process reengineering was carried out according to potential risk factors and causes affecting the results of polysomnography in order to ensure the continuous improvement of quality of polysomnography. Results After the improvement of the key link affecting the quality of polysomnography, the number of the patients underwent polysomnography increased from 345 in 2007 to 657 in 2010,the success rate increased from 93% to 98% and the doctors' trust level about polysomnography increased from 90% to 96%.Conclusions Applying the health care failure mode and effect analysis to analyze of key link affecting the quality of polysomnography prospectively and adopting the pertinent countermeasures can effeetively improve the quality of polysomnngraphy.

Radiation-induced cognitive impairment is hypothesized to occur because of dynamic interactions be -tween multiple cell types, including astrocytes, endothelial cells, microglia, neurons, and oligodendrocytes.Cur-rent researche indicates that radiation-induced changes include the decrease in hippocampus neurogenesis , altera-tions of neuronal functions , particularly synaptic plasticity , as well as the elevation of neuroinflammatory cytokines .

Objective To investigate the healing mechanism of the rabbit's selerotomy sites undergoing the transconjunctival su- tureless vitrectomy(TSV),and to compare the wound healing effect of the different surgery procedures.Design Experimental study. Participants New Zealand white rabbits. Methods Thirty-two New Zealand white rabbits were divided into four groups:the core vitrec- tomy and fluid-air exchange (Group A),the core vitrectomy (Group B),the non-core vitrectomy and fluid-fir exchange (Group C) and the non-core vitrectomy(Group D).Intraocular pressure(IOP)was measured on the day preoperatively and the day 1,3,5,7,14 postopera- tively with Tonopen tonometers.Sclerotomy sites were investigated with the ultrasound biomicroscope(UBM)on the day 1,5 and 9 postoperatively, and the internal and the external diameter of the wound was estimated on the day 1 postoperatively. The pathological sections of the sclerotomy sites on the day 3,5 and 9 postoperatively were observed under the light microscope.Main Outcome Mea- sures IOP,the internal and external diameter of the wound. Results The IOP of Group A was obviously higher than the other groups on the day 1 postoperatively (P

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1986;0(04):-
Aim To investigate whether ischemic postconditioning could induce ischemic tolerance to focal cerebral reperfusion injury and comparison with ischemic preconditioning. Methods A reversible middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO)was used in this study. Fifty male Sprague-dawley rats were randomized into five groups(n=10): sham-operated group,MCAO group, preconditioning group, postconditioning group and nimodipin group . The neurological function was scored and the infarct volume was measured after operation. The grouping, experimental methods and procedures of another fifty rats were as above except that ipsilateral brain of infarction was dissected and made into homogenate, then the contents of MDA,SOD,GSH and LA were quantitatively measured. Results The postconditioning and preconditioning improved the neurological function, reduced the cerebral infarction volumes and cerebral swelling significantly compared with those of the MCAO group. Contents of LA and MDA were lower, while the activity of SOD in the brain tissues were higher in preconditioning group and postconditioning group than those of the MCAO group. Conclusion Postconditioning could induce brain tolerance, and increase the antioxidant activity, which might be an important mechanism of induction of brain tolerance.
