Objective To observe the antioxidative capability and the mRNA expression of sodium pump αl-subunit in kidney of hypothyroid rats by iodine deficiency and illuminate the pathogenesis of kidney damage. Methods Wistar rats were randomly divided into two groups as control group (NT) and hypothyroid group (HT).The rats were all fed with low-iodine diet derived from an endemic goiter area and drank deionized water containing different potassium iodide to duplicate hypothyriod animal models. We determined the morphometric parameters of kidney by routine histology method. The contents of malondialdehyde and free radical scavengers (GSH-PX and SOD) in kid-ney,as well as the activity of Na~+-K~+ ATPase were measured in two groups. The mRNA expression of sodium pump α1 subunit was determined by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. Results Compared with that in the control group,in hypothyroid group (1) serum free T3,free T4,total T3 and total T4 were markedly lower.(2) mean glomerular area and volum diminished markedly.(3)the content of MDA and activity of PGx increased markedly, but the activity of SOD decreased significantly,as well as the one of Na~+-K~+-ATPase.(4)the mRNA expression level of sodium pump α1 subunit was lower. Conclusion In a hypothyroid state, the decrease of antiox-idative capability of kidney resulted in lipid peroxidative damage, atrophy of kidney, decreased activity of Na~+-K~+ -ATPase and degression of sodium pump α1 subunit mRNA expression.

The antioxidative capability and Na+-K+-ATPase α1-subunit mRNA expression in myocardium of hypothyroid rats induced by low-iodine diet were observed. The results showed that the antioxidative capability of myocardium decreased, resulting in lipid peroxidative damage, atrophy of myocardial cells and chondrification of tunica intima, along with decreased expression of sodium pump α1 subunit mRNA in hypothyroid rats.
3.Sociocultural Factors Associated with Caregiver-Psychiatrist Relationship in Taiwan.
Psychiatry Investigation 2016;13(3):288-296
OBJECTIVE: Research on sociocultural factors associated caregiver-provider relationship is needed to enhance family involvement in psychiatric care. This study examines from the caregiver's perspective the associations of schizophrenia attributions, stigmatization, and caregiving experiences with caregiver-psychiatrist working relationship in Taiwan. METHODS: This cross-sectional study used a convenience sample of 152 Taiwanese family caregivers of persons diagnosed with schizophrenia, recruited from a grassroots organization, 4 community mental health rehabilitation centers and 2 psychiatric hospitals between July 2012 and March 2013. Multiple linear regression models were used for analysis. RESULTS: Biological attribution was positively associated with perceived family collaboration, and so was environmental attribution with perceived informational support. Internalized stigma was negatively associated with perceived family collaboration. Caregiving rewards were positively related to both perceived family collaboration and informational support, and so was experience of problems with services to perceived family collaboration. CONCLUSION: The examination of family perceptions informs Western psychiatric care providers of the importance of culturally sensitive practices in developing an effective working relationship with family caregivers, particularly in regards to caregivers' casual attributions, impact of stigma, and caregiving experiences.

Objective To evaluate the cLinical outcome and influencing factors of open reduction and internal fixation in treatment of hip dislocation combined with acetabular fractures. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 51 patients with hip dislocation combined with twetabular frac-tures, who were treated with open reduction and internal fixation under general anesthesia in the emergen-cy department on admission. Of all, 41 patients were treated with open reduction and plate/screw internal fixation, for which the reduction result was evaluated by postoperative X-rays and follow up X-rays accord-ing to Matta's criteria and the functional outcome by Merle d' Aubigne's criteria. Results Of 41 pa-tients, 33 were followed up for 1-7 years (mean 3.1 years). X-ray evaluation showed anatomic reduction in 27 patients (82%), imperfect reduction in five (15%) and poor reduction in one (3%). The clini-cal outcome at the time of final follow-up was graded as excellent in 18 patients (55%), good in 8 (24%), mederate in 3 (9%) and peor in4 (12%), with total excellence rate of 79%. Conclusion Prompt reduction of hip dislocation, precise reduction of the acetabular fracture and decrease of periopera-tive comphcations are key to excellent clinical outcome.

Objective To observe the association between homocysteine (Hcy)level and low limb vascular disease(LLVD) in newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients. Methods The study subjects were divided into three groups : control group (NC), newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetes group without peripheral artery disease (T2DM) and peripheral artery disease with newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetes group (T2DM+LLVD).Both Hcy and the ankle-brachial index(ABI) were measured in three groups. Results Compared with NC group, clinical parameters of body mass index,waist-to-hip ratio, systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol(TC),triglycerides(TG),low density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C),and glycated hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c) increased markedly, and the content of high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) was markedly lower in both T2DM and T2DM+LLVD groups. In T2DM+LLVD group the contents of Hcy,LDL-C and HbA1c were markedly higher than in T2DM group, but the content of HDL-C decreased significantly.Hcy was independently associated with the development of peripheral artery disease in newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients by logisitic regression analysis. Conclusions Increased Hcy is an independent risk factor for peripheral artery disease in newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetes.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2009;17(5):1347-1351
Natural killer (NK)/T-cell lymphomas represent a rare type of lymphoma derived from either activated NK cells or cytotoxic T cells. They are most commonly extranodal and tend to present as destructive lesions within the midline facial structures. Other than the nasal cavity and Para nasal sinuses, several other extra nodal sites of involvement have been reported, including the pharynx, gastrointestinal tract, and testis. Occasionally, pleural effusion has also been observed. Here, a case of lymphoma of NK/T-cell type presented as pleural effusion was reported. The patient was previously misdiagnosed as B cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma by pathological and immunohistochemistry (IH) analysis for pleural membrane biopsy specimen. After the analysis of the pleural fluid cells by a combination of morphologic, immunophenotypic, cytogenetic and molecular (MICM) methods in Beijing Dao-Pei hospital, some lymphoblasts were found morphologically, which expressed cytoplasmic CD3 (cCD3) and CD56 by flow cytometry analysis and had a clonal T-cell receptor gamma (TCR-gamma) gene rearrangement by molecular analysis, so that the diagnosis was finally corrected as NK/T-cell lymphoma and an allogeneic stem cell transplantation was successfully performed. In conclusion, this unusual case highlights the significance of MICM combined techniques for the diagnosis of lymphoma, as well as an unusual presentation of a rare disease and the successful treatment.

Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2008;43(9):930-933
Natural product seselin and related derivatives with an angular pyranocoumarin skeleton were synthesized from 8-acetyl-7-hydroxycoumarins by condensation with acetone, reduction, and dehydration successively under mild conditions with total yield of > 50%. Twelve seselin derivatives were tested by the writhing response assay induced by acetic acid at a dose of 40 mg x kg(-1). Seselin (4a) and 4,8,8-trimethyl-9,9-dihydro-pyran[2,3-f] chromene-2,10-dione (2b) showed obviously antinociceptive activity with inhibitory effect of 85% and 50%, respectively, more or quite potent than aspirin in the same assay, suggesting that seselin derivatives could be a novel kind of potential antinociceptive agents.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the correlation of serum sex hormones and parathyroid hormone (PTH) with the biochemical markers of bone turnover in aged men.
METHODSWe collected the laboratory data of 465 men aged 60- 93 (73. 1 +/- 8. 3) years old, who came for routine physical examinations in our hospital. We obtained the levels of serum follicle- stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estradiol (E2), testosterone (T), sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), PTH, 25-hydroxy-vitamin D3 (25(OH) D3), and bone turnover markers C-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen (CTX), osteocalcin (OC) and amino-terminal propeptide of type I procollagen (PINP). We also determined free testosterone (FT) , bioactive testosterone (BT) , testosterone secretion index (TSI) and FT index (FTI), and analyzed the correlation of each index with the biochemical markers of bone turnover.
RESULTSThe concentrations of serum FSH, LH, and SHBG increased, while the levels of FT, BT, TSI, FTI, PTH, CTX, OC and PINP decreased with age, especially in those over 80 years old (P <0.05). PTH was positively correlated with CTX, OC and PINP (r =0. 227, 0. 269 and 0. 162, P <0. 01), even after the adjustment for age, while SHBG negatively correlated with OC (r = -0. 100, P <0.05). The bone turnover markers increased with the elevation of the PTH quartiles, with significant differences between the first and the fourth quartile (P <0. 01). Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that age was correlated inversely with CTX, OC and PINP ( beta = -0. 126, -0. 141 and -0. 122, P <0.05) , PTH positively with the three markers (beta = 0. 196, 0.279 and 0.189; P <0. 001), and SHBG negatively with OC ( beta = -0. 100, P <0.05) .
CONCLUSIONAging is the fundamental cause of reduced bone turnover in aged men. The levels serum PTH and SHBG are significantly associated with the biochemical markers of bone turnover.
