Chinese Journal of Emergency Medicine 2013;22(12):1394-1397
Objective To investigate the value of interleukin-6 (IL-6) level as a prognostic indicator in diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) patients. Methods Data of 88 cases of DKA in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital collected from June 1,2010 to December 31,2012 were analyzed prospectively. They were divided into two groups according to the survival of patients followed up for 28 days:non-survival group (n =12) and survival group (n =76).Serum levels of IL-6,lactate,base excess and APACHE Ⅱ score in 24 hours after admission were compared between two groups by independent t test. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was plotted to analyze the performance of IL-6 as a prognostic indicator in the early stage of DKA.Correlations between IL-6 value and lactate, base excess,APACHE Ⅱ score were analyzed. Results The IL-6 values were elevated obviously in non-survival group. The ROC of IL-6 had an area under curve (AUC) of 0.783,and the cut-off value of IL-6 for the death followed up for 28 days was 448.9 ng/L.In all patients,IL-6 values and APACHE Ⅱ score showed a positive correlation between them (r =0.919,P =0.005),and also positive correlations existed between IL-6 and lactate as well as base excess (r=0.922,P=0.003; r=0.887,P=0.015)in24 hours. Conclusions IL-6 value is a reliable prognostic indicator in the early stage of DKA.

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of arterial chemotherapy and partial cystotomy for treatment of bladder carcinoma. Methods A total of 171 cases of the bladder carcinoma who would undergo partial cystotomy were randomly diviede into 2 groups:(1)78 patients received arterial chemotherapy before the operation;(2) 93 cases were treated with arterial chemotherapy after the operation. In addition,35 cases who underwent operation alone were selected for the DNA content detection by FCM as control group. All these cases were followed up for 5 years. Results Among the 78 cases with the cystoscopy, the tumors disappeared in 9 cases and the tumors shrank by half or more in 49 cases. The total effective rate was 74.3%(58/78).The pathological examination showed the effective rate was 75.9%(44/58).There was a remarkable change in the carcinoma cells by the electronic microscopy.DNA index, proliferation index,SFR and aneuploid rate were detected by FCM.In the cases of grades Ⅱ and Ⅲ bladder carcinoma there was a statistically significant difference ( P

Right-sided cardiac valvular diseases have traditionally been considered less important than disease of mitral or aortic valve. However, severe tricuspid regurgitation could lead to right ventricle dysfunction and reduce patients' survival rate. In clinic setting, tricuspid valve disease should be paid more attention for patients with secondary tricuspid regurgitation caused by left-sided valvular surgery combined with irreversible annular dilatation increasing the risk of reoperation. In this review, we summarize the epidemiology, anatomy, pathology, diagnosis, ultrasound and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging findings in patients with tricuspid regurgitation.

Chinese Journal of Forensic Medicine 1986;0(02):-
Objective To establish a new allele specific PCR method for GPT typing: and study GPT polymorphism by FLDAS-PCR and PCR-RFLP. Method 248 unrelated individuals of Han were genotyped using FLDAS-PCR and PCR-RFLP. Results Three genotypes were identified with DP of 0.631 in Han population. Typing results by FLDAS-PCR were completely consistent with those by PCR-RFLP. The allele frequencies were GPT * 1 = 0.5423 and GPT * 2 = 0.4577. The population data fitted the Hardy-Weinberg law. Conclusion GPT-FLDAS-PCR and GPT-RFLP method is useful for forensic identification.

BACKGROUND:Current research has shown that tumor necrosis factorαstimulated gene 6 (TSG-6) has anti-inflammatory effect, and the scar formation can be inhibited by local injection of TSG-6 protein at the early stage of trauma. However, the mechanism of this effect is stil unclear. OBJECTIVE:To construct the lentiviral expression vector and shRNA vector for human TSG-6, with stable overexpression, transfection and interference, and to explore the effect of TSG-6 on proliferation and apoptosis of keloid fibroblast cel lines. METHODS:Human keloid fibroblast cel s were isolated from the keloid’s tissue by enzyme digestion and identified by immunocytochemistry assay. Lentiviral vectors pLVX-puro-TSG-6 and pLVX-shRNA1-TSG-6 were constructed and transfected into human keloid fibroblast, exclusively. Expression levels of TSG-6 mRNA and protein were detected by RT-PCR and western blot assay. MTT assay and flow cytometry were used to estimate the cel proliferation and apoptosis in each group after transfection. In addition, expression of Bcl-2, p53 and active-caspase-3 were detected by western blot assay in each group. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Human keloid fibroblasts were separated successful y. Under the light microscope, cel s were spindle. Immunohistochemical staining for vimentin was performed in the fifth passage of cel s, with the positive rate of 100%. Cel s were negative for cytokeratin. (2) Recombinant lentiviral vectors and stably transfected cel lines were successful y established. TSG-6 gene expression was altered apparently. Compared with the control group, cel proliferation was delayed and apoptotic rate was noticeably increased in TSG-6 gene overexpression group. Cel proliferation increased and apoptotic rate decreased in the TSG-6 gene intervention group (P<0.05). (3) Western blot assay results demonstrated that Bcl-2 expression reduced, P53 and Active-caspase-3 expression significantly increased in the TSG-6 gene overexpression group (P<0.05). (4) These finding showed that TSG-6 could inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis in keloid fibroblasts. Its mechanism may be associated with the down-regulation of Bcl-2 protein expression, up-regulation of P53 protein expression and increased Caspase-3 activity.

Objetives: To evaluate the microtensile bond strengths o f four dentin adhesives (Single Bond, Bond-1, Prime&Bond NT and One-Step) i n vivo. Methods: Before extraction the superficial occlu sal dentin of 19 molars (because of severe periodontitis) in 17 volunteers was exposed by diamond bur of a high-speed hand-piece copious air-water spray under local anesthesia, the crown was bonded with one of the above adhesives a ccording to the manufacturers' instructions. The teeth were then extracted and kept in normal saline for 24 h under 37 ℃,sectioned to obtain two or three bar -shaped specimens, which were then shaped to an hour-glass form. The specimens were stressed until rupture of the bond. The mean bond strength of the adhesive s was measured and compared using student test. Rusults: M ean microtensile bond strength (MPa) of Single Bond,Bond-1,One-Step and Prime & Bond NT to the tooth surface was 26.18?3.67,30.08?3.15,29.91?3.51,29.70?3 .03 respectively (P

0.05).Conclusions The serum MMP-9 can be tested as an objective index in appraisal the severity of the left to right shunt. The increased level of MMP-9 may be one of important mechanism for developing heart failure process in children with left to right shunt CHD.Monitor the level of MMP-9 will help us find adverse myocardial remodeling earlier and begin treatment immediately to prevent heart failure developing.
