Objective To investigate the effect of Danzhijiangtang capsule on serum, fat in type 2 diabetic rats. Methods The model of type 2 diabetes mellitus rats were established by injecting small does streptozotocin(STZ)into abdomen and feeding high sucrose-fat diet. All the rats were divided randomly into five groups. The level of blood glucose, serum insulin, insulin sensitivity index, blood fat(triglyceride, cholesterol,high-density lipoprotein,low-density lipoprotein),free fatty acid after treated were examined. Results Danzhijiangtang capsule could decrease the level of blood fat. Conclusion Danzhijiangtang capsule could improve the blood fat in type 2 diabetic rats.

Radiation-induced cognitive impairment is hypothesized to occur because of dynamic interactions be -tween multiple cell types, including astrocytes, endothelial cells, microglia, neurons, and oligodendrocytes.Cur-rent researche indicates that radiation-induced changes include the decrease in hippocampus neurogenesis , altera-tions of neuronal functions , particularly synaptic plasticity , as well as the elevation of neuroinflammatory cytokines .

There is no radical cure for essential thrombocythemia currently. Professor SUN Xue-mei has extensive clinical experience in treating it by combined therapy of Chinese and Western medicine. In this paper, authors tried to summarize her experience from guiding ideology and therapeutic points. Authors insisted on the direction of integrative medicine on the basis of syndrome differentiation, paying attention to psychological counseling, and applied individual treatment in clinics.

International Eye Science 2017;17(6):1055-1059
AIM: To research the correlation factor of the anterior segment values of eyes with different axial lengths.METHODS: In this study, 697 cases 697 eyes were included.According to axial length we divided all the cases into short axial length group, normal axial length group, mild long axial length group, moderate long axial length group and severe long axial length group. The relevant indicators of the anterior segment values of patients in the five groups was comparatively analyzed.RESULTS: In the short axial length group, the anterior chamber volume (ACV) showed a significantly negative correlation with age;anterior chamber depth (ACD) showed a significantly negative correlation with age.In the normal axial length group, the ACV showed a significantly negative correlation with age and a significantly positive correlation with axial length(AXL);the anterior chamber angle (ACA) showed a significantly negative correlation with age and a significantly positive correlation with AXL, and a significantly positive correlation with corneal curvature;the ACD showed a significantly negative correlation with age and a significantly positive correlation with AXL.In the mild long axial length group, the ACV showed a significantly negative correlation with age and a significantly positive correlation with AXL, and a significantly negative correlation with corneal curvature;the ACA showed a significantly negative correlation with age and a significantly positive correlation with AXL, and a significantly positive correlation with corneal curvature;the ACD showed a significantly negative correlation with age and a significantly positive correlation with AXL.In the moderate long axial length group, the ACV showed a significantly negative correlation with age;the ACA showed a significantly positive correlation with AXL;the ACD showed a significantly positive correlation with AXL.In the severe long axial length group, the ACV showed a significantly negative correlation with age. There were no significant differences on ACV, ACA and ACD among mild long axial length group, moderate long axial length group and severe long axial length group (P>0.05), while the difference between other groups was significant (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: There has a correlation between the anterior chamber values (ACV, ACA, ACD) age and AXL for eyes which AXL were 22-27mm, while the correlation would disappear as the AXL became shorter or longer. There was a significant growth trend of anterior chamber values for eyes with AXL <27mm.

Objective The aim of the study was to evaluate the association of fasting plasma glucose (FPG) level over 5.3 mmol/L to the development of abnormal glucose metabolism and cardiovascular diseases (CVD).Methods This was a retrospective cohort study with 1 064 non-diabetic subjects(980 males;84 females) aged 60 or over, who carried out annual health check-up in Chinese PLA General Hospital from May, 1996 to May, 2015.Based on the average FPG level of 3 years before enrollment, the subjects were divided into four groups : < 5.3 mmol/L, 5.3-< 5.6 mmol/L, 5.6-< 6.1 mmol/L and 6.1-< 7.0 mmol/L.Glucose metabolic changes, complications and mortality were follow-up until May, 2015.Results (1)The initial 3-year average FPG levels were (4.9 ±0.4) mmol/L in the total 1 064 subjects.Among them, 126 subjects developed diabetes mellitus (DM) and 144 subjects developed impaired glucose regulation (IGR) during the follow-up visits. The proportions of IGR and diabetes increased with the FPG levels (P < 0.05).The risk for developing IGR was significantly higher in subjects with FPG≥5.3 mmol/L than in those with FPG < 5.3 mmol/L (RR =3.08, 95% CI 2.02-4.81, P <0.01).The risk for incident DM was markedly increased in subjects with FPG ≥ 5.6 mmol/L than in those with FPG <5.6 mmol/L (RR =6.73, 95% CI 3.90-11.52, P <0.01);(2)The risk for CVD was eight folds higher in subjects with FPG ≥5.3 mmol/L than in subjects with FPG < 5.3 mmol/L (RR =8.42,95% CI 5.11-13.82, P < 0.05);(3) Survival analysis showed that the risk of death was 1.47 times higher in subjects with FPG ≥ 5.3 mmol/L than in subjects with FPG < 5.3 mmol/L after years of followed-up (RR=l.47, 95%CI 1.09-1.98, P=0.0127).Conclusion The risks for IGR, CVD and mortality are higher in the elderly with FPG ≥5.3 mmol/L, which highlights the importance for the disease prevention in elder people with FPG 5.3 mmol/L or more.

According to the onset age, a total of 5 674 outpatients with gout admitted in the affiliated hospital of Qingdao University from January 2011 to January 2016 were divided into youth group (≤44 years, n=3 058), middle age group (45~64 years, n=2 101), and elderly group (≥65 years, n=515).Their clinical and biochemical characteristics were analyzed. The results showed that the proportion of gout in the males in three groups was higher than that in the females. The proportions of gout in male youth, middle age, and elderly groups were 98.1%, 93.4%, and 83.1%, respectively. The proportion of gout in females increased with age.The proportion of gout family history in youth group was higher than that in middle age and elderly groups(P<0.05).The proportions of hypertension and impaired fasting glucose(IFG) in elderly group were higher than those in youth and middle age groups (P<0.05), with lower proportions of hypertriglyceride and obesity (P<0.05).The levels of systolic blood pressure, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine in elderly group were increased compared with youth and middle age groups (P<0.05) while the levels of uric acid and triglyceride were decreased (P<0.05), with higher ratio of renal dysfunction (P<0.05).There were no differences in tophus and kidney calculi among three groups (P>0.05).The distributions of the onset joint among three groups revealed statistical difference(P<0.05), but the first plantar toe joint was mostly involved in each group. These results suggest that the clinical characteristics of patients with gout at different onset ages are not identical, should be treated differently.
