1.Effect of various hormones on structure and function of lacromal gland
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2012;(12):1148-1152
Normal function of lacrimal gland plays an important role in the dry eye syndrome-More and more attention had been given to the impact of hormones, especially sex hormones,on lacrimal structure and function.Sex hormone replacement therapy is also considered as a new approach to the treatment of dry eye syndrome. But other hormones, example coming from hypothalamic-pituitary axis such as prolactin, promote black hormone, adrenocorticotropic hormone and luteinizing hormone,follicle-stimulating hormone, thyroid stimulating hormone and growth hormone as well as thyroid element, insulin, glucocorticoid, glucagon coming from endocrine glands also are involve in growth, differentiation, organization and functional activities of lacrimal gland.A variety of hormones-related structure and function of lacromal gland are reviewed in this paper.

4.Recurrent implantation failure: gamete and embryo factors.
National Journal of Andrology 2014;20(6):544-547
Despite the immense achievement in the field of IVF in recent years, many patients still suffer from recurrent implantation failure. Therefore, much attention has been drawn to its etiology and treatment. Chromosomal abnormality, sperm DNA damage, zona hardening, and inappropriate culture conditions are important factors that lead to recurrent implantation failure. Results of studies suggest that preimplantation genetic screening does not improve the rate of implantation or live birth. Comparative genomic hybridization array and single nucleotide polymorphism array could offer a more comprehensive screening of chromosomes. Assisted hatching may help to solve the problem of zona hardening in some situations. Co-culture and blastocyst transfer could be conducive to the improvement of the rates of implantation and pregnancy. Cytoplasmic transfer may give a solution to ooplasmic composition anomalies.

Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2011;34(15):23-25
Objective To assess the clinical effect of anterior transposition of the inferior oblique muscle (ATTO) with and without resection in the treatment of dissociated vertical deviation (DVD). Methods Thirty-six patients ( 59 eyes ) with DVD were divided into the standard group ( 30 eyes) and the resection group (29 eyes) by random digits table undertaking ATIO with and without a 7-mm resection. The vertical deviation degree in primary position and the eyeball motility were recorded and evaluated. Results The vertical deviation degree in primary position were 0△-10△ (3.5 △± 2.7△) after 3 months operation in the standard group, while 0△-12△ (3.3△±3.6△) in the resection group. There were no significant differences between two groups (P> 0.05). In the standard group, 2 cases revealed +2 inferior oblique muscle overaction (IOOA), 7 cases revealed +1 and 21 cases revealed 0 after 3 months operation. In the resection group, 1 case revealed +2 IOOA, 4 cases revealed +1 and 24 cases revealed 0 after 3 months operation. There were no significant differences between two groups(P> 0.05 ). The presence or absence of IOOA did not influence the result of ATIO for either group. Conclusions ATIO is an effective treatment for DVD and can be used to treat DVD in patients without IOOA. A 7-mm resection with the standard ATIO has no advantage to improve the surgery outcome.

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of prenatal ultrasound examination in the diagnosis of fe?tal digestive tract development. Methods Twenty-nine cases of congenital digestive tract malformation were examined in according to the different characteristics of their different fetal ultrasound images. Results There were 11 cases with non-magenblase or less magenblase (37.93%), 4 cases with combination of multiple malformations, and 9 cases with combination of amniotic fluid in the 29 cases. There were 7 cases (24.14%) with dilatation of intestine and intestinal vesicles, in which 3 with multiple malformations and 3 with polyhydramnios. There were 8 cases (27.58%) with double bubbles, in which 1 case with multiple malformations and 7 cases with amniotic fluid. Conclusion The prenatal ultrasound examination in 30 to 32 weeks of pregnancy is very valuable in diagnosis of fetal digestive tract development, which is worthy of clinical application.

Objective To analyze the MRI characteristics of vestibulocochlea neurovascular compression in patients with vestibular paroxysmia (VP) and to investigate the effect of the compression, its site and degree,on the occurrence of VP.Methods Twenty-eight cases of VP (VP group) and 28 cases of vertiginous patients other than VP (control group) were retrospectively reviewed.Three dimensional magnetic resonance angiography (3D-MRA) was performed and the data were used for neurovascular crosscompression (NVCC) analysis. The frequency and type of NVCC,the origin of the offending vessel and the distance between compression site and brainstem were compared between the two groups. Results The frequency of NVCC was 96.4% (27/28) in VP group, with a significant difference compared with control group (13/28,46.4% ;x2 =17.15,P <0.01).The most common NVCC type was vascular loop compression at vestibulocochlear nerve (15/35,42.9%).Anterior inferior cerebellar artery was the most common offending vessel (25/35,71.4%) in VP group. There were no significant differences between the two groups in the type of NVCC or the origin of the offending vessel. The frequency on the distortion and (or) displacement of vestibulocochlear nerve which was severely compressed by vessel in VP group (7/56,12.5%) was significantly higher than that in control group (0; P =0.013).The distance between compression site and brainstem was (8.57 ± 5.08) mm in VP group, and (8.93 ± 4.64) mm in control group, showing no significant difference. The ratio that the distance was less than 15 mm between compression site and brainstem in unilateral NVCC of VP group (100%) was significantly higher than unilateral NVCC of control group (7/10,P =0.033).Conclusions The VP patients have higher NVCC incidence and the most common NVCC type is vascular loop compression at vestibulocochlear nerve which is mainly caused by anterior inferior cerebellar artery.NVCC in VP patients mostly occurs in the central myelin portion of vestibulocochlear nerve. The site and degree of neurovascular compression may relate to the occurrence of VP.

Objective To study the vulnerability of astrocytes bearing mutant SOD1 under the oxidative stress. Methods The cytotoxicity of the serum deprived astrocytes was measured by MTT.The level of ROS was shown by fluorescence of DCF through confocal microscopy. The expression of Nrf2,HO1 and NQO1 in the different cells was detected by Western blot. Results The level of cellular toxicity was higher in the astrocytes bearing mutant SOD1 exposed to the oxidative stress than the astrocytes hearing wild type SOD1.In the astrocytes bearing mutant SOD1,the expression of Nrf2,HO1 and NQO1 decreased. In the presence of mutant SOD1,an unexpected 44 per-cent decrease of Nrf2 was detected. This was associated with a decreases in multiple downstream phase Ⅱ detoxif-ying enzymes and antioxidant enzymes, known as NQO1 and HO1.Furthermore,our results showed that the ex-pression of NQO1 increased 1.5 and 2.5-fold by EGCG at 5 and 10 μmol/L.EGCG also elevated the expression of total Nrf2.Confocal microscopy showed that EGCG caused Nrf2 translocation from the cytoplasm to the nucleus. Conclusion Decrease in Nrf2 expression is the mechanism to explain the vulnerability of astrocytes bearing mutant SOD1 and EGCG strengthened antioxidation function by upregulating the activity of Nrf2.
