Objective:To study the infection status and epidemiological characteristics of parainfluenza virus (PIV) in acute respiratory tract infection adult cases in Shanghai from 2015 to 2021, and to provide a scientific basis for preventing and controlling PIV.Methods:Acute respiratory tract infections were collected from 13 hospitals in Shanghai from 2015 to 2021. Relevant information was registered, and respiratory specimens were sampled to detect respiratory pathogens by multiplex PCR.Results:A total of 5 104 adult acute respiratory tract infection cases were included; the overall positive rate of the respiratory pathogens was 29.37% (1 499/5 104). The positive rate of PIV was 2.61% (133/5 104), compared with 2.32% (55/2 369) and 2.85% (78/2 735) in influenza-like cases (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) cases, respectively. Among them, PIV3 accounted for the highest proportion (62.41%, 83/133), followed by PIV1 (18.80%, 25/133), PIV2 (9.77%, 13/133), and PIV4 (9.02%, 12/133). The incidence of PIV-positive cases was mainly distributed in the first and second quarters, accounting for 62.41% (83/133). The difference in the incidence in each quarter was significant ( χ2=24.78, P<0.001). Mixed infection accounted for 18.80% (25/133) of 133 PIV-positive cases, the mixed infection rates of ILI and SARI were 18.18% (10/55) and 19.23% (15/78), respectively, and the main mixed pathogen of PIV was coronavirus 229E. Conclusions:There are a certain proportion of PIV-positive acute respiratory tract infection cases in Shanghai. It is necessary to strengthen the etiological surveillance in acute respiratory tract infection cases, especially the mixed infection of PIV and other pathogens.

The emerging and re-emerging arthropod-borne infectious diseases pose a serious threat to global public health security. Field and laboratory studies of arthropods of medical importance are essential and critical for the prevention and control of arthropod-borne infectious diseases. Various institutions or universities in China have been conducting research in the field or laboratory study of arthropods of medical importance, but up to 2023, it is still lacking detailed biosafety guidelines or recommendations that can guide the related work for arthropods of medical importance. In order to proactively address potential biosafety issues in the field or laboratory activities related to arthropods of medical importance, improve the standardization of arthropod biosafety classification, operations, and protection, and ensure the safety of practitioners, an expert consensus on the biosafety recommendation of arthropods of medical importance in field and laboratory has been developed, aiming to guide the future work of arthropods and ensure the national biosafety and biosecurity of China.

Objective To investigate the distribution patterns of mosquitoes and mosquito-borne viruses in Dehong prefecture,Yunnan province,China. Methods Mosquito samples were collected using the mosquito traps from five counties of Dehong prefecture on July,2007 and 2010. Mosquitoes were cell cultured for viral isolation, and positive isolates were identified using RT-PCR and sequence analysis. Results A total of 43 634 mosquitoes comprised of 29 species representing six genera were collected. Culex tritaeriorhynchus and Anopheles sinensis comprised 78.69% and 14.77% of the total. Six strains of viruses were isolated from the mosquito pools. RT-PCR and phylogenetic analysis revealed three strains from Cx. tritaeriorhynchus, identified as genotypeⅠJapanese encephalitis virus(JEV). One strain was identified from Cx. tritaeriorhynchus,as Getah virus (GETV). Two strains isolated from Cx. tritaeriorhynchus and Anopheles vagus were identified as Culex pipiens pallens Densovirus(CppDNV). Conclusion Cx. tritaeriorhynchus had been the major species of mosquitoes and mainly transmitting vector of mosquito-borne viruses in Dehong prefecture. GenotypeⅠJEV,GETV and CppDNV were the vectors causing transmission of mosquitoe-borne diseases in this area. Data from phylogenetic analysis showed that these newly discovered isolates seemed to have had close relationship with those viruses previously circulating in Yunnan and other provinces of China.

An effective herbal medicinal prescription of Shengjiang Xiexin decoction (SXD) was used in treating the inflammatory bowel disease in clinic. In this study, an ultrafast liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UFLC-MS/MS) method was developed to separate and to simultaneously determine 14 major active ingredients in SXD. Chromatographic separation was successfully accomplished on an Acquity BEH C18 (100 mm×2.1 mm, 1.7 μm) column using gradient elution with 0.1% () formic acid water (A) and 0.1% () formic acid in methanol (B). Negative and positive electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry was used to detect the 14 analytes using its selective reaction monitoring (SRM) mode. A good linear regression relationship for each analyte was obtained over the range from 3.88 ng/mL to 4080 ng/mL. The precision was evaluated by intra- and inter-day assays with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of less than 6.25%. The recovery measured at three concentration levels varied from 98.72% to 103.47%. The overall limits of quantification (LOQ) ranged from 2.05 ng/mL to 4.72 ng/mL. The method was successfully implemented in the qualitative and quantitative analyses of the 14 chemical constituents in SXD. The results showed that the developed UFLC-MS/MS method was linear and accurate. The method could be used reliably as a quality control method for SXD.

Objective To delineate the normal stomach and thoracic stomach structure of patients with thoracic and abdominal tumor automatically using the AccuContour software based on deep learning in order to evaluate and compare the results. Methods Thirty-six patients with choracic and abdominal tumors were chosen for this study, and were divided into two groups. Group A included 18 patients with normal stomach, and group B included the other 18 patients undergoing esophageal carcinoma operation with thoracic stomach. The stomach structures were automatically delineated by the AccuContour software in the simulation CT series. Statistical analysis was carried out to data of the differences in volume, position and shape between the automatic and manual delineations, and data of the two kinds of stomach were compared. Results For group A, the differences in volume (ΔV%) between the automatic and manual delineations was (−1.82 ± 9.65)%, the total position difference (ΔL) was (0.51 ± 0.37) cm, the values of dice similarity coefficient (DSC) was 0.89 ± 0.04. There were significant differences in values of ΔV%、ΔL and DSC (P < 0.05). Conclusion The used version of AccuContour software in this study had a satisfactory result of automatic delineation of the normal stomach structure larger than certain volume, but could not delineate the thoracic stomach structures effectively for patients undergoing esophageal carcinoma operation.
