Objective To investigate the clinical and imaging features of hypertrophic olivary degeneration (HOD) secondary to brainstem hemorrhage. Methods The clinical data of one patient with HOD secondary to brainstem hemorrhage was retrospectively analyzed. Results The patient was hospitalized with paroxysmal and body involuntary jitter and other extrapyramidal symptoms. After admission, MRI scan showed bilateral inferior olive nucleus of medulla oblongata were localized hypertrophy. Conclusion The main clinical manifestation of HOD secondary to brainstem hemorrhage is extrapyramidal symptom. The imaging features are abnormal signals and localized hypertrophy at inferior olive nucleus.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of cinepazide maleate combined with venlafaxine on post-stroke depression.Methods60 stroke patients with post-stroke depression were divided into control group (n=30) and observation group (n=30). On the basis treatment, the control group was given venlafaxine, the observation group was given venlafaxine and maleate cinepazide injection. The course was 4 weeks. The two groups were assessed with Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD) and modified Barthel Index(MBI) before and after treatment.ResultsThe observation group improved better than the control group (P<0 05) even in HAMD and MBI 4 weeks after treatment(P<0.01).ConclusionCinepazide maleate combined with venlafaxine may be more effective on post-stroke depression to improve depressive symptoms, and the activities of daily living.

AIM: To investigate the molecular mechanisms of antianxiety drugs on the rats with restraint stress. METHODS: The rat stress model was made by restraint stress. The behaviors of rats were tested in open field conditions, and the expression of c fos positive cells was detected by S P immunohistochemical assay in hypothalamus. RESULTS: The crossing scores, the rearing scores and the expression of c fos positive cells increased more significantly in the other groups than that in the control group, but decreased in the paroxetine group. The paroxetine inhibited the behaviors and the expression of c fos positive cells in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of rats after immobilization stress. CONCLUSION: The effects of paroxetine on the anxiety disorders in rats may be related to the downregulation of the expression of the c fos in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN).

AIM: To study the effects of paroxetine on the psychological stress induced by c-fos gene expression in the rat hypothalamus paraventricular nucleus(PVN) and to explore the molecular mechanism of effects of paroxetine on the stress related anxiety disorders. METHODS: The rat psychological stress model was made by restraint stress. The cortisol was analyzed by radioimmnoassay, and expression of c-fos positive cells was detected by S-P immunohistochemical assay in the rat PVN. RESULTS: The level of cortisol and the expression of c-fos positive cells increased more significantly in the other groups than that in the control group, but decreased in the paroxetine group. The paroxetine reduced the level of cortisol and inhibited the expression of c-fos positive cells in the PVN after psychological stress. CONCLUSION: The paroxetine can regulate the nerve centre by alleviating the expression of the c-fos in the hypothalamus paraventricular nucleus(PVN)and the activation of HPA pathway.

Objective:To investigate the psychosocial behavior status and related factors in patients with adolescent idio-pathic scoliosis(AIS),in order to pay attention to the mental health and provide an empirical evidence of mental health service and rehabilitation for AIS patients. Method:Fifty participants with AIS and 50 matched healthy adolescents were selected.General information of the participants in the two groups was collected. The Scoliosis Research Society-22(SRS-22),the strengths and difficulties questionnaire-self-report(SDQ-S),self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),nine-item patient health ques-tionnaire(PHQ-9)were used to evaluate the quality of life, anxiety, depression and other psychosocial behav-ior of all subjects.Statistical analysis was conducted to determine whether psychosocial behavior was difference between two groups. The correlation between the type and degree of scoliosis and the quality of life and psy-chosocial behavior was further analyzed. Result:The SAS results indicated that the number of participants with different degrees of anxiety in the AIS group was significantly higher than that in the control group(Z=-3.998,P<0.001);SDQ-S results showed that the scores of partner interaction problems(t=3.168,P=0.002)and prosocial behavior(t=2.529,P=0.013)in AIS group were significantly higher than those in control group. The scores of pain in double-bend patients were lower than those in single-bend patients(t=2.824,P=0.007);The degree of lateral bending(Cobb Angle)was correlated with the mobility(r=-0.283,P=0.008)and psychological status(r=-0.300,P=0.047)of SRS-22,and was positively correlated with the score of PHQ-9(r=0.356,P=0.011). Conclusion:AIS patients have different levels of anxiety, peer interaction problems and poor prosocial behav-ior.It is necessary to be high valued and screened, evaluated and intervened as soon as possible.
