3.Expression of ALEX1 in breast cancer and its clinical significance
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2017;33(2):353-357
AIM: To detect the expression of ALEX 1 in the breast cancer tissues in order to verify whether ALEX1 has correlation with clinical pathological features in breast cancer .METHODS:Real-time PCR and immmunohis-tochemistry were applied to detect the expression of ALEX 1 at mRNA and protein levels in the breast tissues .The statistical analysis were performed for determining the correlation with the level of ALEX 1 and the clinical pathological features in breast cancer .RESULTS:The protein levels of ALEX1 in the breast cancer tissues were lower than that in the non-breast cancer tissues (P<0.01).The expression of ALEX1 had correlations with pathological grade , clinical stage, molecular type (P<0.05) but had no correlation with the patients ’ age, tumor size and tumor types in breast cancer .Furthermore, the result of real-time PCR showed that mRNA expression of ALEX 1 was also significantly reduced in the breast cancer tis-sues (P<0.01).CONCLUSION:The expression of ALEX1 in the breast cancer tissues is lower than that in non-breast cancer tissues .The pathological grade and clinical stage in breast cancer are negatively correlated with the expression of ALEX1.
4.Development of target therapy for advanced gastric cancer
Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology 2014;(21):1408-1412
The efficacy of conventional chemotherapy for gastric cancer is extremely limited because of its relatively low chemo-sensitivity and obvious heterogeneity. Molecular phenotype-directed target therapy is important for the improvement of the effi-cacy of conventional chemotherapy in treating advanced gastric cancer. Trastuzumab has been confirmed to have a survival benefit when added to chemotherapy for HER-2 positive gastric cancer. Ramucirumab can increase the survival of gastric cancer patients as second line treatment compared with a placebo. The anti-c-MET monoclonal antibody Rilotumumab indicates promising results in phaseⅡtrial. However, most of the targeting drugs in gastric cancer clinical trials have failed. Therefore, further efforts are required to explore critical targeted genes and effective agents.
5.Influence of Turnover Rate of Hospital Beds on Drug Proportion
China Pharmacist 2016;19(2):316-318
Objective:To research the expense distribution of discharged patients during hospitalization to find out the period with the greatest weight, and provide reliable evidence for the increase of turnover rate by controlling hospitalization of patients and medical security. Methods:Totally 2 444 discharged patients of our hospital from September to November in 2013 with stay day of 1 to 20 d were analyzed, and then divided into the internal medicine group and surgical groups including surgical operation group and surgical without operation group. The hospitalization expenses and drug expense in all the groups were counted and compared. Results: The daily expense in the internal medicine group showed significant difference when compared with that in the surgical operation group and surgical without operation group (P<0. 01), meanwhile, that in the two surgical groups had no significant difference (P>0. 05). The daily expense in the surgical operation group was with linear decrease, and that in the other groups was with logarithmic decline. The 10-day expense in each group had significant difference (P<0. 05) compared by median test. The expense proportion of drugs in all groups was generally increased along with the hospitalization days. Conclusion:The effective method for the decrease of drug pro-portion is shortening hospitalization days, especially in surgical departmens, the drug proportion is increased along with the length of stay.
6.Application of systemic octreotide radioactive imaging in children with neuroblastoma:a report of 14 cases
Journal of Clinical Pediatrics 2013;(11):1050-1053
Objectives To evaluate the application of systemic octreotide radioactive imaging in diagnosis and follow-up for children with neruoblastoma (NB). Methods Clinical data of 14 children with NB applied systemic octreotide radioac-tive imaging from April 2006 to March 2011 were collected and analyzed. For the ifrst-visit patients, they were applied with systemic octreotide radioactive imaging at the ifrst follow-up appointment after routine treatment. And for recurrent or sus-pected recurrent cases, systemic octreotide radioactive imaging was applied before the treatment and after 2-3 weeks chemo-therapy. Results Nine of 14 patients were male and 5 were female with a median age of 4.8 years (1-10 years). According to In-ternational Neuroblastoma Staging System (INSS), 4 cases were categorized as stage 3 and 10 cases were categorized as stage 4. The uptake rate of systemic octreotide radioactive imaging in primary site or metastasis sites of 8 cases were higher than nor-mal site with positive rate of 57.14%(8/14). One case was conifrmed as false positive by treatment and imaging examination. Six cases were negative in primary site or metastasis sites with negative rate of 42.86%(6/14). One case was conifrmed as false negative via treatment and imaging examination. Therefore, the sensitivity of systemic octreotide radioactive imaging reached 85.71%(12/14). Conclusion Systemic octreotide radioactive imaging could be one of the effective methods for NB in diagno-sis, follow-up and evaluation of prognosis.
