Objective To investigate the clinicopathologic features and imaging findings of several kinds of rare and uncommon brain embryonal tumours. Methods MRI or CT appearance and clinicopathologic features in 10 eases of histopathology confirmed brain embryonal tumours were retrospectively analyzed. Results Among 10 cases, there were supratentorial primitive neuroectodermal tumour(sPNET) in 6,ependymoblastoma in 2,medulloepithelioma and atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumour (AT/RT)in 1 respectively.Patients in 4 cases were infancy and childhood. There was characteristic of the clinicopathologic features of tumors that were the evidence of accurate diagnosis. All lesions were located in the supratentorial region. The tumors were large, usually lobulated in shape irregularly and showed heterogeneous density or signal intensity with some cystic and necrotic areas. The tumors parenchyma appeared slightly high density on CT imaging,iso-or high signal on T2WI and slight low signal on T1WI with intense enhancement after contrast injection. Conclusion MRI or CT findings of rare and uncommon brain embryonal tumours were not characteristic,it Was very essential to know the tumors combined with the clinical and pathologic features.

Objective To explore the relationship between parenting stress and social support, cop-ing style in mothers of children with autism. Methods 105 mothers with autistic children(the observation group) and 100 mothers with healthy children (the control group) were investigated by questionnaires, which included parenting stress index-short form (PSI-SF), social support scale and simplified coping style questionnaire. And then the relationship between parenting stress, social support and coping style was ana-lyzed among them. Results Mothers of children with autism experienced a significantly higher level in the total score of parenting stress and all the domains when compared with mothers of healthy children. Par-enting stress was negatively correlated with social support. Conclusions Mothers of children with autism generally experience a significantly higher level than parents of healthy children in the total parenting stress and all the domains. Social support could reduce parenting stress of mothers with autistic children.

Objective To investigate the distribution pattern of the ADAS-Cog scores among the elderly in Beijing and to evaluate the application of ADAS-Cog in distinguishing patients with mild Alzheimer's disease (AD) and healthy elderly. Methods In total, 1616 healthy elderly (NC), 125 elderly patients with non-AD disorders (ND), and 310 patients with probable AD including 201 patients with mild AD and 109 patients with moderate AD (by NINCDS-ADRDA criteria) were recruited in the study and their cognitive performance was measured by the ADAS-Cog.Results In NC group, those older than 80 years and those with less than 5 years schooling scored highest. There was statistically significant correlation between the total scores of the ADAS-Cog and age and duration of schooling in NC group (F=14.34, 113.27,both P<0.01). No correlation was suggested in the mild AD group. The total score of ADAS-Cog was significantly associated with duration of schooling in both moderate AD and ND groups (F=4.18, 8.72, both P<0.05). The total score of ADAS-Cog differentiated the patients with mild AD from NC healthy elderly with AUC ranging from 0.69 to 0.82 in each subgroup by age, and from 0.75 to 0.88 in subgroups by durations of schooling with the highest AUC of 0.88 in the subgroup having more than 15 years of schooling education. Conclusions The ADAS-Cog score in the healthy elderly is significantly associated with age and duration of schooling education. The ADAS-Cog can be applied in the cognitive assessment of Chinese AD patients. The total score of ADAS-Cog could efficiently differentiate patients with mild AD from healthy elderly, especially in subjects with higher education level.
