Objective To study clinical significance of S-100B protein in umbilical cord blood of asphyxial neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE).Methods Forty-three cases of healthy infants were regarded as control group(group 1).Sixty cases of asphyxial neonates were divided into two groups(44 cases without HIE as group 2;another 16 cases with HIE as group 3).S-100B protein levels in umbilical cord blood of three groups were measured with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay retrospectively. Objective To explore the role of serum S-100B concentration of umbilical cord blood and blood on the 24 h after admission in the early diagnosis and development of newborn hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE).Methods Forty-six HIE newborns(31 cases with mild HIE and 15 cases with moderate and severe HIE)were selected as HIE group,and 43 normal full-term newborns were selected as control group.The umbilical cord blood sample and blood sample were aquired on the 24 h after admission.The serum S-100B concentration was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)analysis.Results 1.There was no significant difference of serum S-100B concentration between the male sub-group and female sub-group of normal group and their birth weight had no significant relative to the serum S-100B concentration.2.The serum S-100B concentration of umbilical cord blood of control group and HIE group were(1.03?0.32)and(2.53?1.1)?g/L,respectively,there was significant difference between two groups(t'=8.848 P

Objective To assess the diagnostic value of combined testing of urinary bladder cancer antigen(UBC),hyaluronic acid(HA)and survivin in the detection of bladder cancer.Methods This study included 64 bladder cancer patients and 20 urinary benign disease patients.The examinations of urine UBC by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),HA by radioimmunology assay,survivin by RT-PCR and urine cytology were performed in them.Results The sensitivity of UBC(85.9%,55/64),HA (89.1%,57/64)and survivin(93.8%,60/64)was significantly higher than that of urine cytology (40.6%,P＜0.01).The specificity of UBC,HA,survivin and urine cytology was 85.0%(17/20),80.0% (16/20),95.0%(19/20)and 95.0%(19/20),respectively;there was no significant difference among these 4 methods(P＞0.05).The sensitivity of UBC,HA and survivin was also significantly higher than that of urine cytology in different histologic stages and grades(P＜0.05).The sensitivity of UBC and survivin was not significantly different among different histologie stages and grades(P＞0.05).With regard to HA test, the sensitivity in G_2 and G_3 groups was significantly higher than G_1 group(P＜0.01),but there was no differ- ence between G_2 and G_3 groups(P＞0.05);and no difference among different histologic stages(P＞0.05). However,the sensitivity of cytology was improved with the higher grade of bladder cancer(P＜0.01);there was no difference among histologic stages(P＞0.05),By combined use of UBC,HA and survivin,both the sensitivity and specificity were 100%.Conclusions The study indicates that UBC,HA and survivin are better diagnostic markers for the early detection of urinary bladder cancer.These tests are simple,feasible and noninvasive with higher sensitivity and specificity.In addition,combined use of them can improve the diag- nostic sensitivity and specificity.

Teaching management is an important link in hospital training of high-quality medical talents and an indispensable part of the overall construction of hospitals.Aiming at the confusion of the teaching work and combined the teaching management practice of the hospital,we put forward "54321" teaching management model,introduced the operation and effectiveness of this model.In conclusion,we provide a way to further strengthen the teaching management for general hospitals.

Objective To measure albumin in urine by HPLC and conduct primary clinical application Methods Solvent gradient and appropriate wave length was optimized and performance of the HPLC method was evaluated.Urine albumin of 46 patients with diabetes was measured.Results In standard and urine,retention time of Alb was 13.1 min.The linear measuring range extends to 1 820 mg/L.The lower limit of measurment for Alb was 4.2 mg/L.The intra-assay CV and the inter-assay CV were 3.36%,4.12% and 1.93%,1.97% at 24.5 mg/L and 546.9 mg/L of Alb respectively.Analytical recovery rate were 96.3%,98.2% and 97.5%.Microalbuminuria rate was 54.3% by HPLC,26.1% by immunoassay in 46 patients with diabetes.Conclusions Measurement of Alb in urine by HPLC is feasible as routine method until quantifying urinary total Alb conveniently.HPLC is the same to suit research for diabetic nephropathy and so on.

Objective To explore the distribution of water with high level arsenic and prevalence of arsenism along Huai'he River and the surrounding area of Hong'ze lake in Huai'an of Jiangsu. Methods Wate rsamples were collected and tested in 2008 from 18 villages of 6 towns according to history data in 3 counties like Xuyi,Jinhu and Hongze. Samples having arsenic level higher than 0.05 mg/L were investigated by epidemiological method and the patients were diagnosed by Standard of Diagnosis for Endemic Arsenism. Results All 5199 water samples were determined,and 260 water samples were exceeding the national drinking water quality level (0.05 mg/L) in 3 counties,the rates of exceeding diagnosis were 5.6%(247/4454),0.7%(4/597),6.0%(9/148) respectively. Total detected rate of endemic arsenic disease was 5.94%(128/2155). The detected rates of age group of 0 ～ ,20 ～,30 ～ ,40 ～ ,50 ～ ,60 ～ ,70 ～ ,80 ～ were 2.86%(1/35),2.11%(2/95),1.26%(3/239),3.10%(16/516),5.53% (32/579),10.07%(41/407),11.84%(27/228),10.71%(6/56) respectively. The detected rate of male (9.10%,78/857) was higher than that of female(3.85%,50/1298,χ~2 = 25.46,P < 0.01). Conclusions Huai'he River and the surrounding areas of Hong'ze lake like Xuyi,Jinhu and Hongze are identified existing endemic arsenic disease area. The prevention of arsenism should be strengthened in these areas.

To characterize the background current in fetal human nasopharyngeal epithelial cells and clarify its relationship with volume activated Cl(-) currents (I(Cl,vol)), whole-cell patch clamp and cell imaging techniques were employed. Under isotonic conditions, a background current [(5.9+/-2.1) pA/pF at +80 mV, n=21] was detected. The current presented a weak outward rectification and a negligible time-dependent inactivation. The current-voltage relationship showed that the reversal potential of the background current [(-0.73+/-1.7) mV, n=21] was close to the calculated equilibrium potential for Cl(-)(-0.9 mV). Application of extracellular hypertonic stimulation (440 mOsmol/L) suppressed the current by (59.6+/-7.1)% and the inhibition was reversible after returned to isotonic conditions. Bathing the cells in hypotonic solution (160 mOsmol/L) induced a volume-sensitive Cl(-) current. The Cl(-) channel blockers, tamoxifen (20 micromol/L) and 5-nitro-2-(3-phenylpropylamino) benzoic acid (NPPB) (100 micromol/L), inhibited the background current by (74.0+/-5.2)% (P<0.01, n=5) and (60.9+/-8.9)% (P<0.01, n=6) at +80 mV and increased basal cell volume by (107.7+/-2.9)% (P<0.01, n=25) and (104.4+/-2.4)% (P<0.01, n=19), respectively. The data indicate that Cl(-) current is an important component of the background current in fetal human nasopharyngeal epithelial cells. The background Cl(-) current is involved in volume activated Cl(-) current and basal cell volume regulation.

AIMTo study the pharmacokinetics of bromotetrandrine (W198) in rats and beagle dogs.

METHODSThe concentrations of W198 in serum were determined using HPLC method with UV detection.

RESULTSThe pharmacokinetic parameters of W198 after single iv doses of W198 10, 20 and 40 mg x kg(-1) in rats were as follows: T1/2beta were 6.60, 7.36 and 6.77 h, AUC0-24 h were 3.797, 7.371 and 15.192 mg x h x L(-1), Vd were 7.14, 4.33 and 4.13 L x kg(-1), CL were 2.83, 2.60 and 2.71 L x (kg x h)(-1), respectively. The T1/2beta and AUCo-24 h of W198 after single im dose of W198 20 mg x kg(-1) in rats were 11.61 h and 12.646 mg x h x L(-1). The im bioavailability of W198 in rats was 56.9%. The T1/2beta, AUC0-24 h, Vd and CL of W198 after single iv dose of W198 5 mg x kg(-1) in beagle dogs were 11.72 h, 12.646 mg x h x L(-1), 0.70 L x kg(-1) and 0.46 L x (kg x h)(-1), respectively. The plasma protein binding ratio of W198 with human serum protein was 78.0%.

CONCLUSIONThe absorption of W198 in rats was of first order kinetics.

OBJECTIVETo explore the best program for treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) of constipation type.

METHODSNinety-five cases of IBS were randomly divided into 3 groups. Group A (n = 30) were treated by acupuncture combined with microorganism pharmaceutical preparations, group B (n = 35) by oral administration of medicine for loosening the bowel to relieve constipation plus microorganism pharmaceutical preparations, and group C (n = 30) by simple acupuncture.

RESULTSThe total effective rates were 90.0%, 77.2% and 66.7%, in the group A, B and C, respectively, with a very significant differences as the group A compared with those in the groups B, C (P < 0.01), and with no significant difference as the group B compared with that of the group C (P > 0. 05). The intestinal available bacteria, bilidobacteria and lactobacillus, increased and enteric bacilli decreased in varying degrees in the 3 groups.

CONCLUSIONAcupuncture combined with microorganism pharmaceutical preparations has a better therapeutic effect on irritable bowel syndrome of constipation type.
