1.Clinical impact of prostatic calculi on chronic non-bacterial prostatitis

Objective To investigate the clinical incidence and influence of prostatic calculi on recalcitrant chronic abacterial prostatitis (CAP). Methods During August 2004 and March 2005, a total of 104 men with recalcitrant CAP refractory to multiple prior therapies were included in the study. Severity of symptoms in these patients was defined by the Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index (CPSI). The detection and volume measurement of prostatic calculi, and the measurement of prostate volume were performed by ultrasonography. Associations between severity of symptoms and prostatic calculi were assessed using SNK ?2 tests and Spearman correlation. Results Prostatic calculi were detected in 58 of the 104 men (55.8%), including type Ⅱ calculi (larger, coarser) in 31.7% of cases. 2.Research advances on late intraocular lens dislocation after phacoemulsification

Late intraocular lens dislocation is one of the most severe late complications after phacoemulsification.It often occurs 3mo after the surgery.Different from early intraocular lens dislocation, late intraocular lens dislocation is caused by zonular dehiscence and contraction of the capsular bag many years after phacoemulsification.In recent years, the incidence of late intraocular lens dislocation gradually increases, having a risk of 0.1% after 10a and 1.7% after 25a.In the long-term follow-up patients who underwent cataract surgery, 90% had zonular insufficiency and capsular contraction.Among the multiple factors which may contribute to zonular weakness and capsular contraction, pseudoexfoliation is the most common cause, accounting for 50% of all the cases.Other risk factors include aging, high myopia, uveitis, trauma, previous vitreoretinal surgery, retinitis pigmentosa, diabetes mellitus, atopic dermatitis, previous acute angle-closure glaucoma attack, and connective tissue disorders.The understanding of these predisposing factors will suggest necessary preventions for high-risk patients in the future.
3.Molecular action mechanism of desoxyrhaponticin and serum albumin characterized by spectroscopy combined with molecular modelling.

OBJECTIVETo study the molecular action mechanism of active constituents desoxyrhaponticin (DES) and human serum albumin (HSA).
METHODUnder the simulated physiological condition, computer analog technology, fluorescent spectrometry and ultraviolet spectrum were combined to study the binding mechanism between drug and protein.
RESULTMolecular modeling was adopted to establish the binding model between DES and HSA, suggesting that the interaction force maintaining drug and protein is mainly the hydrophobic interaction with a hydrogen-bond interaction. The results from spectroscopy indicated that the interaction between DES and HSA is a dynamic binding process with a high intensity. The value of the binding distance (r) between DES and HSA was low, which demonstrate the occurrence of energy transfer. DES made an impact on HSA' structural domain microcell conformation, which resulted in hydrophobic changes in binding areas. According to the fluorescent phase diagram technical analysis, the changes in the DES-HSA reaction conformational pattern showed a "two-state" model. According to the obtained thermodynamic parameters for the DES-HSA interaction, the interactional force between DES and HSA was mainly a hydrophobic interaction. The fluorescence polarization proved that a non-covalent compound was generated during the interaction between DES and HSA.
CONCLUSIONThe spectrum experiment showed consistent results with the computer analog technology, which could provided certain reference for studies on the interaction between DES and HSA.

4.Pollen viability, stigma receptivity and fruiting characteristics of botanical origin of Jinxianlian.

The viability and life span of pollen were evaluated by TTC (2,3,5-triphenyl tetrazlium chloride) and the peroxidase solution, the stigma receptivity were estimated by benzidine-H2O2 method and the fruiting characteristics were investigated. The results showed that (1) Anoectochilus roxburghii and A. formosanus appeared the same up-and-down trend of the pollen viability, increased and then decreased. The storage temperature and storage time had significant impact on the pollen viability. With the extension of storage time, the pollen activity decreased. 4 degrees C refrigerator storage may be extended the pollen vitality. (2) The stigma had receptivity in 1st day and reached the highest level in the 4th day after blooming. A. roxburghii lost receptivity in the 8th day while A. formosanus lost receptivity in the 10th day after blooming. (3) The different pollination had significant impact on seed setting rate. The seed setting rate of artificial cross-pollination was higher than that of the artificial self-pollination. Collecting pollen in the 3rd day and carrying out artificial cross-pollination in the 4th day after blooming can significantly improve seed setting rate. The results provided technical assurance for A. roxburghii and A. formosanus breeding of new varieties and seed breeding.

5.The use and effect of dorsal dartos flap wrapping technique in complicated hypospadias fistulas repairs

Objective To investigate the use and effect of dorsal dartos flap wrapping technique in complicated hypospadias fistulas repairs. Methods In the experimental group, the closed fistulas were wrapped with transferred dorsal dartos flap in the 32 cases of complicated hypospadias fistulas from March 2004 to January 2008. In the control group, the routine fistulas repairs were preformed in the 50 cases of complicated hypospadias fistulas from January 1998 to February 2004 . Results All cases had been followed up for 3 - 12 months, there were no fistula in the experimental group. There were 6 fistulas in the control group. There was significant difference between two groups (P<0.05). Conclusions The use of the technique can prevent urethrocutaneous fistulas after complicated hypospadias fistulas repairs, the fistulas rate are reduced for all cases combined. The technique would be the optimal repair for complicated hypospa-dias fistulas.

Trans-rectal ultrasound is widely used in the diagnosis of rectal cancer.Elastography technique is based on the endorectal conventional ultrasound and can assess tumor stiffness and further detect the characteristics of tumor.It is helpful to provide more information for the differential diagnosis of rectal cancer,preoperative staging and the chemotherapy efficacy evaluation.The applications of strain elastography in the diagnosis of rectal cancer were reviewed in this article.
7.Evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment of high risk benign prostatic hyperplasia with transrectal high-intensity focused ultrasound by urodynamic test

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment of high risk benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with transrectal high-intensity focused ultrasound (TR-HIFU) by urodynamic test. Methods One hundred and thirty patients with BPH, most of who suffering with diabetes mellitus,cardio-cerebrovascular disease, respiratory disease. All patients were given the operation with Sonablate-500 high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). International prostate symptom score (IPSS), quality of life (QOL), maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax), post void residual urine volume (PVR), pressure-flow tests (A-G) were employed for the evaluation of curatives effect on preoperation, 30th and 90th day after the treatment. Results The duration of the TR-HIFU prostate ablation treatment was 15-85 rain. One hundred and seven patients after treatment were followed up for 3 months. Compared the effect before treatment with that after treatment, IPSS improved from (27.0 ±11.5) scores to (8.5±1.4) scores, Qmax increased from (5.7±2.3) ml/s to (14.1±4.2) ml/s, PVR decreased from (118.5±78.0) ml to (30.0±15.0) mI,A-G parameters reduced from 62.4±19.3 to 25.6±13.0 and urine volume (VV) increased from (85.8 + 42.0) ml to (194.0±52.0) ml. The parameters all altered obviously (P < 0.05). Conclusions TR-HIFU appears highly attractive as a new optional, safe and efficacious and minimally invasive treatment for the high risk BPH. Main post-operative urodynamie parameters are more obviously improved than those of the preoperation.
8.Videourodynamic characteristics of female bladder outlet obstruction

Objective To analyze videourodynamic characteristics of female bladder outlet obstruction (BOO). Methods Retrospective analysis of videourodynamic characteristics were performed in 42 women with BOO. On the basis of the videourodynamic findings, women with BOO were categorized into five groups: bladder neck obstruction, middle urethra (urethral sphincter) obstruction, distal urethra obstruction, external orifice of urethra obstruction, high-grade pelvic organ prolapse. Data of five groups were compared in Qmax, maximum cystometric capacity, Pdet at Qmax, residual urine, detrusor instability and hydronephrosis. Data of all patients were analyzed by SPSS13 statistical software, measurement data by t-test and enumeration data by x2-test. Results Five groups had not significant deviation in the maximum cystometric capacity. however patients with bladder neck obstruction had significant deviation with others in Pdet at Qmax (78. 0 ± 23. 6)cm H2O, residual urine (120. 6±115.2)ml, Qmax (7.0±2.3)ml/s (P<0.05). There was significant deviation between middle urethra (urethral sphincter) obstruction(76.9%)and others in detrusor instability(P<0. 05). In all patients with hydronephrosis, bladder neck obstruction(57. 1 %) had significant deviation with others (P<0. 05). Conclusions Videourodynamic tests could assess lower urinary tract function, and may guide clinic management. The bladder neck obstruction was most serious and harmful to upper urinary tract.
9.Effectiveness of the treatment of slight and moderate benign prostatic hyperplasia with large doses of cernilton by urodynamic test

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment of slight and moderate benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)with large doses of cemilton by urodynamie test.Methods A systematic review of using large doses of cernihon only for 80 patients with BPH with 7 grade < International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS)≤20 grade.All cases with cemilton had been administered in a dosage of 750 mg,three times a day for one year.All were respectively given IPSS,postvoiding residual urine(PVR),maximum flow rate(Qmax)and pressure-flow(A-G)test in order to assess the effectiveness at pre-treatment and 3,6,12 months after treatment.Results All patients had followed up for(1.2±1.6)years,additionally 26 of those were removed and others had received complete follow-up.Before the treatment IPSS was(20.5±4.5)grade,PVR was(42.5±8.2)ml,Qmax was(10.2±2.3)ml/s,A-G was 56.5±12.8,PQmax was (54.8±13.7)mm Hg(1 mm Hg = 0.133 kPa),and 12 months later,IPSS was(11.0±3.3)grade,PVR was (15.9±7.4)ml,Qmax was(15.7±2.5)ml/s,A-G was 49.2±13.6,PQmax was(43.6±14.9)mm Hg.There were significantly difference between pre-treatment and post-treatment data of the urodynamics(P < 0.05).Conclusions The effectiveness of the treatment of slight and moderate benign prostatic hyperplasia with large doses of cemihon are relatively satisfactory.Main post-treatment urodynamic parameters obviously improves than that of the pre-treatment.
10.Studies on methods of in vitro evaluation of soft rot-resistance in jinxianlian.

Compared with living spray method, it focused on the investigation of different inoculation methods, various inoculation concentration and the influence of different seeding age on soft rot-resistance in Jinxianlian. The results showed that (1) Inoculated with dropping connection, the difference of disease index between A. roxburghii and A. formosanus was grate, so that the disease-resistance could be obviously distinguished. (2) When the inoculation concentration was 1.0 x 10(7) cfu x mL(-1), the difference of disease index was relatively obvious and the disease-resistance could be differentiated well. (3) At the moment of 4-month seeding inoculation, a certain difference of the disease index between A. roxburghii and A. formosanus was existed, so, relatively, it could accurately reflect the resistance difference between various species. With the inoculation of dropping connection, A. roxburghii and A. formosanus of 4-month seeding age was put in the bacteria suspension of inoculation concentration of 1.0 x 10(7) cfu x mL(-1). The identification was taken up after 5 days in the incubator under the condition of 14 h daylight and 28 degrees C. The identification result was conformed with that of the living spray method. To investigate the identification method of in vitro evaluation of soft rot-resistance of Jinxianlian so as to provide the foundation for germplasm utilization and excellent cultivars breeding.
