AIM: To observe the effect of perioperative detail treatment of pterygium.
METHODS:Sixty cases(100 eyes) of pterygium patients were collected from Sep. 2012 to Jan. 2014. All cases were performed modified pterygium excision with limbal epithelial autograft transplantion under microscope. Corneal wound healing, graft survival, and the recurrence of pterygium were observed.
RESULTS:All cases of conjunctival flap survive, corneal wound closed well. The patients were followed up for 7 to 12mo. Among them, 3 eyes recurred and the recurrence rate was 3%. There were no serious complications.
CONCLUSION:In the operation of pterygium excision with limbal epithelial autograft transplantion, standard and detail treatment can significantly improve the clinical effect.

Objective To investigate the influence of mental intervention on the self-image of breast cancer patients.Methods Fifty patients with breast cancer who were hospitalized in our hospital from January to September,2015 were enrolled as the control group in the study,where routine nursing intervention,health education on disease related knowledge and psychological nursing were carried out.During October 2015 to June 2016,50 patients with breast cancer were enrolled as the observation group,where psychological awareness intervention was carried out apart from the routine nursing intervention.The self-image level of breast cancer patients from the two groups was evaluated by self-image questionnaire for breast cancer patients (BIBCQ).Result After intervention,the scores on self-image in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05).Conclusion Mental intervention can improve the self-image of breast cancer patients and help improve their quality of life.

Objective To assess the therapeutic strategies and prognostic factors that influence clinical outcome of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) of the abdomen. Methods Between Jul 1980 and Nov 2003, 51 intraabdominal MFH patients undergoing resection were retrospectively analyzed. Results Postoperative recurrence developed in 35 patients, with local recurrence in 15 (29. 4% ) , distant metastasis in 20, including lung metastasis in 8 ( 15. 7% ) , liver metastasis in 4(7. 8% ) , and bone metastasis in 6 ( 11. 7% ). The 1-, 3- and 5-year disease-free survival rate was 70. 6% , 43. 1% and 29. 4% , respectively, and the 1-, 3- and 5-year cumulative survival rate was 74. 5% , 52. 9% and 31. 4% , respectively. Conclusions Intraabdominal MFH is a rare entity with high biological aggressiveness and high metastasis potential. Surgical resection has generally been accepted as the treatment of choice for MFH, at the same time, there appears to be a role for radiation therapy, in combination with surgery for better local control, particularly in high-grade lesions.

Background Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is one of major causes of childhood blindness.Early screening and treatment of ROP is necessary.Objective This study was to analyze the incidence of ROP in single and multiple premature infants and related factors.Methods This study was approved by Ethic Committee of Suzhou Municipal Hospital,and oral informed consent was obtained from the parents of the infants before any medical examinations.Five hundred and four fetus with the gestational age of ≤34 weeks or birth weight of ≤ 2 000 g were collected in Suzhou Municipal Hospital,of whom 357 infants were single fetus birth and 147 infants were multiple fetus,including 26 twins and 21 three fetus birth.The fundus were examined by RetCam Ⅱ equipment and ROP was determined based on the fundus findings and history of birth.ROP incidences between the single fetus and multiple fetus were compared,and the inducing factors were analyzed.Results Sixty-six infants were ROP in all 504 fetus,with the incidence of 13.10％.The incidence of ROP in the single fetal group was 10.92％ (39/357),which was significantly higher than 18.37％ (27/147) in the multifetal group (x2=5.069,P=0.024),and risk of ROP in the multifetal group was higher than that in the single fetal group (OR =1.835).The oxygen inhalation rate was 42.02％ (150/357) and the oxygen inhalation duration was 5.71 days in the single fetal group,and that in the multifetal group was 58.50％ (86/147) and 9.42 days,respectively.Conclusions Incidence and risk of ROP in the multifetal infants are higher than those in the single fetal infants,and low-birth-weight,less gestational weeks and excess oxygen inhalation are influence factors.

Objective To explore the expression of caspase-3 in skeletal muscle of the mice in the state of cancer, and to elucidate the relationship between Caspase-3 and apoptosis,consumption of skeletal muscle protein in cancer cachexia.Methods 48 male BALB/c mice were randomly divided into cancer cachexia group and control group (n=24).The mice in cancer cachexia group were inoculated with mouse colon 26 adenocarcinoma cells.The body weights of the mice in two groups were detected daily.Eight mice in each group were executed to test the weight of left gastrocnemius, fiber crosscut area, the expression levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6),Caspase-3 proteins and the apoptotic rate of gastrocnemius cells on day 8,14,and 20,respectively. Results The mice in cancer cachexia group appeared cachectic symptoms on day 14,the non-tumor body weight was decreased more than 20% of that in control group (P<0.05).Compared with control group at the same time, the mouse body weight,non-tumor body weight,the weight of left gastrocnemius and the fiber crosscut area of the mice in cancer cachexia group were obviously decreased with the prolongation of inoculation time (P<0.05 ), whereas the expression levels of TNF-α,IL-6,Caspase-3 proteins and the apoptotic rate of muscle cells were obviously increased after tumor inoculation (P<0.05).The level of Caspase-3 protein was negatively correlated with the weight of gastrocnemius and fiber crosscut area (r=-0.716,P<0.05;r=-0.694,P<0.05),and the level of Caspase-3 was positively correlated with the levels of TNF-αand IL-6 (r=0.742,P<0.05;r=0.675,P<0.05).Conclusion Caspase-3 may be a key factor in the protein comsumption of skeletal muscle in cancer cachexia.
