Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2010;28(6):644-646
Objective: To prepare arsenic trioxide (As2 O3) albumin microspheres and to analyze their physicochemical properties and in vitro antitumor activities. Methods: As2 O3 albumin microspheres were prepared by emulsification-heat solidification. Physicochemical and the slow-release properties of the microspheres were identified by the electron microscope, thermal stabilization analysis and dynamic dialysis system in vitro. MTT method was used to evaluate the inhibitory effect of the released fluid on human osteosarcoma cell line U-2 OS cells and human lung adenocarcinoma cell line SPC-A-1 cells. Results: The mean diameter of the microspheres was (156 ± 3.56) μm (ranging 56. 4-256. 7 μm), with the AS2 O3 content being (55.22±11.19)% and t1/2 of release time being 23.34 h. The slowly released fluid showed a significant inhibitory effect on U-2 OS and SPC-A-1 cells. Conclusion: As2 O3 albumin microspheres prepared in the present study have satisfactory physicochemical, slow-releasing, and tumor-inhibition properties.
2. Physicochemical properties of calcium phosphate cement incorporated with anti-tumor drugs
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2010;28(3):250-253
Objective: To study the influence of anti-tumor drug incorporation on the physicochemical properties of calcium phosphate cement(CPC). Methods: Methotrexate (MTX), epirubicin (EPI), hydroxy camptothecin (OH-CPT), and arsenic trioxide (As2O3) were incorporated, each in a proportion of 2%, 5%, and 8%, into the powder-phase CPC. Untreated CPC was taken as control. The setting time, compression strength, and the microstructure of the resultant products were evaluated and tested. Results: Compared with control group, the setting time was significantly prolonged when 2% EPI was incorporated into CPC (P<0.05), and the maximum compression strength was significantly decreased when 5% OH-CPT and 8% MTX, EPI were incorporated into CPC (P<0.05). Electron microscope showed no significant change in the crystal structure after incorporation of the drugs. Conclusion: CPC is an ideal anti-tumor drug delivery material. The changes of physicochemical properties of CPC must be considered when anti-tumor drugs are incorporated into CPC for clinical application.

Objective To study the relationship between coronary artery disease (CHD ) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), TNF-α and IL-10. Methods Patients with CHD were included in CHD group (n=628) and patients without CHD con?firmed by coronary angiography were selected in control group (n=540) . The recorded data included age, body mass index (BMI) and serum levels of glucose (GLU), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C). Meanwhile serum levels of IL-6, TNF-α, IL-10 were determined by ELISA. Results Serum levels of BMI, LDL-C, TG were higher in CHD group than those in control group(P<0.01). The serum level of HDL-C was significantly lower in CHD group than that in control group(P<0.01). Serum levels of IL-6(P<0.05)and TNF-α(P<0.01)were higher in CHD group than those in control group. The serum level of IL-10 was significant?ly lower in CHD group than that in control group(P<0.01). Conclusion IL-6 and TNF-αare involved in the develop?ment of CHD. IL-10 can inhibit inflammation and protect vessel integrity.

Chinese Journal of Urology 2001;0(06):-
Objective To investigate the value of detecting BK virus(BKV)in urine of renal al- lograft recipients for the diagnosis and treatment of BKV infection. Methods Using polymerase chain re- action(PCR)method combined with DNA sequencing,61 urine samples from renal allograft recipients,30 u- fine samples from dialytic patients and 30 urine samples from healthy volunteers(controls)were detected. The results were compared among the 3 groups. Results The BKV positive rate in renal allograft recipi- ents was 36.1%,compared with 13.3% in dialytic patients(P<0.05)and 0.0% in controls(P<0.05). One renal allograft recipient who was positive for BKV developed ureteral obstruction. The BKV positive rate was 40.9%(9/22)in renal allograft recipients with rejection episode, compared with 33.3%(13/39)in the recipients without rejection episode(P>0.05);and the BKV positive rate was 36.0%(18/50)in the recip- ients with normal graft function, compared with 36.4%(4/11)in the recipients with abnormal graft function (P>0.05).Conclusions Renal allograft recipients are the high risk population who may develop BKV viruria. There is no correlation between recipients with or without rejection episode and BKV viruria, and also no correlation between recipients with normal or abnormal graft function and BKV viruria.Detection of BKV in the urine of renal allograft recipients is helpful in differential diagnosis of BKV induced ureteral obstruc- tion, and PCR method for detecting BKV DNA can be used to screen for BK virus-associated nephropathy (BKVAN).
