AIM: To investigate effect of autogenous conjunctival flap transplantation in the treatment of severe fungal corneal ulcer.
METHODS: A total of 83 cases ( 83 eyes ) with severe fungal corneal ulcer treated in our hospital from Jan. 2013 to Jan. 2016 were selected. Among them, 36 cases ( 36 eyes) were treated with drug therapy, and 47 patients(47 eyes ) were treated with autogenous conjunctival flap transplantation, two group did fungal culture and identification, observed the two groups treatment effect.RESULTS:The effective rate of surgical treatment group was 89%, significantly higher than that of drug treatment group, the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05 ); The effective rate of surgical treatment of filamentous bacteria was 92%, which was significantly higher than that of drug treatment, the difference was statistically significant(P<0. 05). The effective rates of surgical treatment and drug treatment of yeast were 80%and 78%, the difference was not statistically significant( P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Autologous conjunctival flap transplantation in the treatment of severe fungal corneal ulcer has good curative effect. The operation is simple, worthy of recommendation method. Filamentous bacterial corneal ulcer without good drug therapy effect, surgical treatment should be performed in a timely manner to improve the curative effect.

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of early rehabilitation on poststroke anxiety and depression.Methods137 stroke patients with hemiplegia were divided into the rehabilitation group (70 cases) and control group (67 cases). All patients in both two groups were given routine clinical treatment, but the patients in the rehabilitation group were given regular early rehabilitation. All patients were evaluated with Bathel Index (BI), Fugl-Meyer Motor Scale (FMMS), Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) before and 3 months after treatment.ResultsAfter 3 months treatment, the scores of HAMD, HAMA, BI and FMMS of patients in the rehabilitation group increased significantly compared with those before treatment ( P<0.05～0.01), and those in the control group ( P<0.05). The scores of BI and FMMS of patients in the control group after treatment also increased significantly compared with those before treatment ( P<0.05). The incidences of depression and anxiety of the rehabilitation group were 22.86% and 5.71%, those of the control group were 40.30% and 16.42%, there was a significant difference between two groups( P<0.05).ConclusionThe early rehabilitation can obviously decrease anxiety and depression of stroke patients with hemiplegia.

Background Certain relationship has been found between phenotype and genes mutation of congenital cataract.It is clear that different genetic mutations can cause the same complication in congenital cataract,meanwhile,different complications may be caused by the same gene mutation.However,their mechanism is still remained unclear.Objective This study was to observe the phenotype of congenital cataract accompanied with iris dysplasia.Methods Fifteen patients with congenital cataract accompanied with iris dysplasia were included in this study.The slit lamp,gonioscope and ophthalmoscope were used for the examination of the anterior ocular segment,the anterior chamber angle and fundus on all the patients.This study was approved by the Ethic Committee of Second People' s Hospital of Yunnan Province.Written informed consent was obtained from each patient or the custodian prior to any medical procedure.Results All the patients showed binocular involvement.Congenital nuclear cataract with whole coloboma of iris was seen in 7 cases,and 2 cases showed an entire cataract associated with incomplete coloboma of iris.Entire cataract with aniridia was diagnosed in 5 patients,and suture cataract complicated with aniridia was in 1 patient.Conclusions Some regular patterns can be implied between the morphological type of cataract and iris dysplasia,which may be helpful for further study of these diseases.

Objective The factors influencing the dose distribution of intracavitary brachytherapy for moderately advanced and advanced uterine cervical cancer was studied.Methods Ninty-five patients with cervical cancerⅡ～Ⅲb who received radical radiation therapy in our department from Aug,2004 to Nov,2005,were treated with after-loading brachytherapy using,first,the self-designed“Mutipurpose Hori- zontal Transit Table”(MPHTT) for locating and treatment before the intracavitaray brachytherapy proper. The deviation of isodose curve based on A-B reference system,and the dose of deviation was defined by measuring in a practical standard phantom.Results There were significant influence on the deviation of i- sodose curve in pathology and para-metrial infiltration of cervical cancer and operating skill,but negative to clinical stage.The degree of deviation of isodose curve could not be lowered with the increase in sessions of intracavitary brachytherapy.Conclusions It is necessary to perform the locating,by use of mphtt,before the proper brachytherapy for patients with cervical cancer,not only for the identification of the deviation of i- sodose curve,but also to provide the evidence for revising the plan for dose adjustment of conformal radiation therapy in the pelvic cavity.

BACKGROUND: Paraquat (PQ) is an effective herbicide and is widely used in agricultural production, but PQ poisoning is frequently seen in humans with the lung as the target organ. Clinically pulmonary pathological changes are often used to predict the severity and prognosis of the patients. In this study, we observed the expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) in rat lung after PQ poisoning and to investigate the therapeutic effects of ulinastatin. METHODS: Seventy-two adult healthy SD rats were randomly divided into a control group (group A, n=24), a poisoning group (group B, n=24), and an ulinastatin group (group C, n=24). The rat models of acute PQ poisoning were established by intra-gastric administration of 80 mg/kg PQ to rats of groups B and C, and the rats of group C were intra-peritoneally injected with 100000 IU/kg ulinastatin 30 minutes after poisoning. The expression of HSP70 in lung tissue was observed, and W/D and histopathological changes in the lung tissue were compared 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours after poisoning. The expression of HSP70 in the lung tissue was assayed by using RT-PCR. All quantitative data were processed with one-way analysis of variance to compare multiple sample means. RESULTS: Compared to group A, the expression of HSP70 in the lung of rats in groups B and C increased significantly at all intervals (P<0.05). The pathological changes in lung tissue of rats with PQ poisoning included congestion, leukocytes infiltration and local hemorrhage, whereas those of group C were significantly lessened. CONCLUSION: Ulinastatin may ameliorate acute lung injury to some extent after PQ poisoning in rats by enhancing the expression of HSP70.

?ig-h_3 was first identified as a transforming growth factor-beta1-inducible gene in human lung adenocarcinoma cell line. It encodes for a secreted extracellular matrix (ECM) protein, which is thought to act on cell attachment and ECM composition. Previous study showed that ?ig-h_3 were highly expressed in human hepatoma cell lines and lowly expressed in human normal hepatic cells. The present study aimed to transfect ?ig-h_3 into 7721 cells to investigate its effect on secretion of MMPs in the transfected human hepatoma cells. Full-length ?ig-h_3 gene,cloned by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was inserted into the eukaryotic expression vector pEGFP-C_2. The recombinant plasmid was transfected into 7721 cells with Lipofectamine2000 and Gelatin-Zymography were adopted to detect the production of MMPs in the transfected cells. Results showed that ?ig-h_3/pEGFP-C_2 recombinant expression plasmid was successfully constructed and achieved high transfection efficiency. MMPs expression of the transfected cells was promoted significantly. These results suggest that overexpression of ?ig-h_3 promoted the production of MMPs, indicating that ?ig-h_3 may play roles in the invasive and metastatic processes of hepatoma.

Objective To explore the effects of probiotics on feeding intolerance and early growth and development of premature infants.Methods Eighty premature infants were randomly assigned into 2 groups,the other 40 infants as therapy group,another 40 infants as control group.All infants in 2 groups were given general care and treatment.At the same time,probiotics was administered orally or via a orogastric tube to infants in therapy group within 24 hours after birth.The parameters of head circumference,length and body weight on day 28 of life and the time to achieve full enteral feeding and to regain birth weight were all recorded.The incidence of feeding intolerance of both groups were analyzed.Potential adverse effects associated with probiotics were also monitored.Results The incidence of feeding intolerance was significantly lower in probiotics-treated infants(27.5%) compared with that of control group(52.5%)(?2=5.208 3 P

Objective To explore the influence of fluorine on mRNA and protein expression of the insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and its receptor of rat osteoblasts.Methods Osteoblasts were isolated from rat bone by enzyme digestion.Different fluorine concentration [0 (control),10-7,10-6,10-5,10-4,10-3 mol/L] was add to the second generation osteoblasts.The IGF-1 in the culture medium was determined by radioimmunoassay (RIA) at different fluorine concentration and different time (24,48 h).The expression of IGF-1 receptor was measured by the method of fluorescent quantitation PCR and the expression of protein IGF-1 receptor was measured by Western blotting.Results ①With increased dose of fluoride exposure,IGF-1 concentration in the osteoblastic culture medium increased first and then decreased at 24,48 h,respectively.Compared to the control group [(38.83 ± 3.48)ng/L],IGF-1 concentration of the 24 h 10-6 mol/L group[(65.45 ± 4.84)ng/L] was higher,and the difference was statistically significant(P ＜ 0.05).The same result was also shown in the 48 h 10-5 mol/L group [(59.14 ± 1.53)ng/L] to its corresponding control group [(33.79 ± 1.84)ng/L,P ＜ 0.05].②The mRNA expression of IGF-1 receptor of the 24,48 h 10-5 mol/L groups (0.0055 ± 0.0004,0.0262 ± 0.0040) was significantly higher than their corresponding control groups (0.0022 ± 0.0001,0.0073 ± 0.0008,all P ＜ 0.05).③With increased dose of fluoride exposure,the protein expression of IGF-1 receptor increased first and then decreased ;the expression of 24 h 10-5 mol/L group (1.39 ± 0.16) was compared with the corresponding control group (0.86 ±0.12),and the difference was statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05) ; the expression of 48 h every fluorine group was also compared with the corresponding control group,and the difference was not statistically significant(all P＞ 0.05).Conclusions Fluorine can affect the mRNA and protein expression of osteoblastic IGF-1 and its receptor.It indicates that IGFS signal transduction pathways play an important role in fluorine regulation of bone metabolism.

Objective To observe the effects of soybean,selenium and spirulina on hemoglobin(Hb)of rats intoxicated with fluorine and aluminiums.Methods According to body weight,84 SD rats were randomly divided into control group,high aluminum group,high fluorine group,high fluorine-aluminum group,high fluorine-aluminium intoxicated rats strengthened with soybean group,high fluorine-aluminium intoxicated rats strengthened with selenium group and high fluorine-aluminium intoxicated rats strengthened with spirulina group,12 in each group.Rats in the control group and the high aluminum group were fed with feed containing 5.2 mg/kg of fluorine and 6.8 mg/kg of aluminum.In other groups,fluorine wag 106 mg/Kg and aluminum 19.7 mg/kg.Fluorine and aluminum concentration in the drinking water of the control group and the high fluorine group were 0.69 mg/L and 0.20 mg/L,respectively.In other groups' drinking water,these values were 0.69 mg/L and 90.2 mg/L,respectively.Ninety days later,Hb concentration of the whole blood was tested.Results Hb concentration of the control group,the high aluminum group,the high fluorine group,and the high fluorine-aluminum group were (160.8±6.3),(142.2±15.9),(156.1±4.9)and(145.2±6.2)g/L,respectively.Fluorine had an effect on the concentration of Hb(F=29.56,P<0.05).The Hb concentration of the high fluorine-aluminum group,the strengthened with soybean group,the strengthened with selenium group and the strengthened with Spirulina group were(145.2±6.2),(150.7±17.7),(156.8±14.5),(154.5±17.8)g/L,respectively.Though the concentration of Hb had increased,there was no significant difference between the four groups(χ2=3.304,P>0.05).Conclusions High-dose fluorine could cause varied decrease in the concentration of Hb.However,aluminum has neitherantagonistic effect nor synergistic effect on the Hb of fluorotic Rat.Soybean,selenium and Spirulina show a trend to increase fluorotic rat's Hb,but they has no evident antagonistic effect.
