Objective: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of Ezrin, a tumor metastasis related gene, in tissues of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods: The expression of Ezrin was detected with two-step immunohistochemistry technique in tissues of 38 NPC patients and 20 nasopharyngitis patients. All of the Ezrin expression and clinical data (gender, age, clinical stage, recurrence, and ]ymphonode metastasis) were compared and analyzed between two groups. Resuits: The Ezrin expressions were significantly different between NPC tissue (and peri-NPC tissue) and naeopharyngitis tissue (P<0.05). No significant difference was found in the Ezrin expressions between the NPC tissue and the peri-NPC tissue (P>0.05). It was found by Spearman analysis method that the Ezrin expression increased with patients' age (P<0.05), but no significam relationship with gender, clinical stage, recurrence, and lymphonode metastasis (P>0.05). The Ezrin expression influenced the survival time of NPC patients significantly (P<0.01). Conclusion: The Ezrin expression can be an useful prognostic factor for NPC patients.

Objective To investigate the prevalence rate of complications in children with cerebral palsy (CP).Methods 80 CP children were recruited.Their parents were interviewed for high risk factors and feeding his- tory. Each case was assessed neurologically for type of CP and diagnosed for complications. And all cases were detect- ed by magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)of the brain. Results Among 80 patients,60 cases(75%)suffered from complications, the majority patients had difficulty in taking in food, intelligence retardation, hearing impediment and vision impediment. The prevalence rate of complications with mixed CP was 85 %.MRI abnormalities of the brain were accounted for 74.5 % and periventrieular leakomalacia(PVL)was more common(45.1%).Conclusion This study suggested timely rehabiliatation and interventions must be started to significantly improve the levels of intelli- gence. And the epilepsy and nonepileptic events must be identified to avoid mistakes in diagnosis.

OBJECTIVE:To study the quality standards for Shenchang injection.METHODS:TLC was applied to identify the properties of Borneol and volatile oil of Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii in the formula.HPLC was adopted to determine the content of ?-asarone in Shenchang injection.RESULTS:?-asarone showed good linear relationship in the range of 0.632 3~ 1.264 6? g.The average recovery of ammonium ?-asarone was 99.92%(RSD=0.91%).CONCLUSION:The standard can be used for the quality control of Shenchang injection.

Chinese Journal of General Surgery 2008;23(4):276-278
Objective To investigate the effect of radical surgical excision of total cyst for hepatic cystic echinoccosis. Methods During six years,86 patients with hepatic cystic echinococcosis were treated by radical surgical excision of the total cyst.Hospital stay, abdominal drainage time, residual cavity drainage, accumulated liquid in residual cavity, residual cavity infection and recurrence were compared with that in 90 cases receiving internal capsule extirpation. Results Radical surgical excision of total cyst for hepatic cystic echinococcosis is safe and very effective, the average hospital stay was significant shorter(P<0.001)and there was no significant complications such as billiay fistula, residual cavity infection, accumulated liquid of residual cavity and recurrence of hydatid cyst. Conclusion Radical surgical excision of total cyst is an ideal and new therapeutic method for the treatment of hepatic cystic eehinococcosis.

Objective To evaluate measures in the prevention of pancreatic fistula after distal pancreatectomy. Methods Clinical data of 124 cases of distal pancreatectomy performed during 2000 and 2009 in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed, including 86 cases of pancreatic carcinoma,12 cases of pancreatic pseudocyst and pancreatic benign tumor,18 cases of gastroenteric tumor with pancreatic body/tail invasion,3 cases of chronic pancreatitis with body/tail pseudocyst,5 cases of pancreatic injury.Cases were divided into two groups retrospectively by ways the stump pancreas were closed.Group A included 63 cases in which the stump end was closed by simple interrupted mattress suture, group B including 61 cases in those the stump was sutured by interrupted mattress combined with a safe ligation of the main pancreatic duct. Results Pancreatic fistula occurred in 22 cases in group A,the incidence was 34.9%,among the 22 cases,10 cases were high-flow type,12 cases were low-flow type; while the pancreatic fistula occurred in 9 cases in group B,the incidence was 14.7%,there was no high-flow type fistula. Conclusions Interrupted mattress suture combined with interlocking suture and suture of main pancreatic duct is effective in decreasing the rate of pancreatic fistula after distal pancreatectomy.

Objective:To explore the efifcacy and safety for radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) of left bundle branch guided by left bundle potential (LBP), X-ray image with EnSiteNavX System in canine model.
Methods:The RFCA of left bundle branch was conducted in 13 dogs. A mapping catheter was positioned in right atrium to record right-sided His-bundle (R-His) potential, and an ablation catheter via right femoral artery was retrograded to left ventriclefor LBP mapping and ablation. Meanwhile, EnSiteNavX System was used to identify R-His, L-His and LBP at the same time. The potential characteristics in dogs with successful ablation were observed, the PR interval, QRS shape and time limit, AH interval, HV interval, the A/V electro-gram ratio in ablationcatheter at before and after ablation were recorded. The procedural time and X-ray exposure time between LBP with X-ray image method and LBP, X-ray image with EnSiteNavX System method were compared.
Results: There were 9/13 dogs received successful left bundle branch ablation, 3 dogs failed and 1 suffered from complete A-V block. At the successful ablation target site, the LBP-V was (17.8 ± 2.6) ms with the range of (13-21) ms, and the A/V electro-gram ratio<1/10. The procedural time and X-ray expose time were signiifcantly decreased in LBP, X-ray image with EnSiteNavX System method than those in LBP with X-ray image method P=0.007 and P<0.001.
Conclusion:Under the LBP, X-ray image with EnSiteNavX System guidance method, left bundle branch could be safely and effectively ablated to establish left bundle branch block (LBBB) model in experimental canine.
