Objective To investigate the effects of atorvastutin on the levels of plasm imflammation markers (hs - CRP, MMP - 3, TNF - α) and intima - media thickness(ITM) of the common carotid artery in patient with hyperlipidemic and atherosclerosis. Methods Fifty patient with hyperlipidemic and atherosclerosis were treated with atorvastatin (10mg qd) for 12 weeks. The levels of TC, TG, LDL -C, HDL -C, hs -CRP, TNF -α and MMP -3 were detected with radioimmmuneassay and eolorimetric methods. Color Doppler echo-cardiography was used to measure intima -media thickness(ITM) of the common carotid artery after 6 weeks and 12 weeks. Results TC, TG, LDL -C, hs -CRP, TNF -α and MMP -3 were decreased significantly(P < 0.01)after 12 weeks. IMT was decreased signifi-cantly(P < 0.05) and HDL - C was increased significantly (P < 0.05) after 12 weeks. Conclusion Atorvastatin could be effective in re-ducing blood - fat and anti - inflammatory action , regulating blood vessel endothelium (BVE) function and reversing structural chan-ges in IMT of the common carotid artery.

Objective To establish a HPLC method for the determination of quercetin from different parts of L. cuncata(Dum. Cours.)G.Don.,including roots,old branches,young shoots,leaves and seeds,and to build the fingerprints. Methods The HPLC method determination of quercetin and fingerpints were establised. Results The restults showed that there were great differences be?tween the quercetin contents from different parts,with the highest contents found in seeds,followed by young shoots,leaves,old branches,and roots. The similarities of HPLC fingerprints of the medicinal material were quite different from the parts of L. cuncata (Dum.Cours.)G.Don.. The similarities were all above 0.95 for L. cuncata(Dum.Cours.)G.Don. samples,roots,old branches and young shoots below 0.85,leaves and seeds similarities below 0.60. Conclusion It was concluded that different parts(such as roots, old branches,young shoots,leaves,seeds)of L. cuncata(Dum.Cours.)G.Don. should be divided in clinical and productive practice so as to supply the scientific basis for enhancing the curative effect and reasonable utilization of the resource of L. cuncata(Dum.Cours.)G. Don.

Objective To evaluate the role of curved-cutter-stapler in anus-preserving for low rectal cancer.Methods The clinical data of 32 patients with low rectal cancer from June 2007 to December 2008 who received low anterior resection and ultra low anterior resection by using curved-cutter-stapler were reviewed retrospectively.Results No operation death case,complete cutting and safe closure in all cases,one case was complicated with anastomotic leakage,and one case of rectovaginal fistula.Thirty patients were followed up 4 to 22 months after the operation,with an average time of 12.6 months,no hemorrhea of pelvic cavity and anastomotic stoma or anastomotic stenosis cases.Conclusion Curved-cutter-stapler has the advantages of complete cutting,safe closure and low complications,and easy being used in anus-preserving operation for low rectal cancer,which can increase the rate of anus-preserving.

Objective To investigate the clinical effects of Metoprolol Tartrate Tablets and Sodium Fructose Diphosphate(FDP) :injection in the early treatment of 48 cases of acute myocardial infarction(AMI) patients with thrombolytic therapy.Methods 84 cases of acute myocardial infarction who were in accordance with the indications for thrombolytic therapy in patients were randomly divided into a treatment group(group A,48 cases,treated with Metoprolol Tartrate Tablets and Sodium Fructose Diphosphate Injection) and a control group(group B,36 cases,treated with the conventional therapy).The occurrence of reperfusion arrhythmias,early sighs and symptms,and retoration of myocardial injury were observed in patients after thrombolytic therapy in order to understand clinical effect on the patients with that treatment.Results In treatment group there were decreased incidence of heart symptoms (chest pain,cardiopalmus) and RA(group A,36.1%;group B,71.4%),improved recovery of cardiac muscde enzymogram as compared to control,which was significantly different with control and between treatment groups (P

Objective To study the change of the hyaluronic acid (HA),laminin (LN) and col- lagen type IV (C_(?)) within the renal grafts and in serum during acute rejection and to investigate their relationship.Methods Male Wistar and Sprague-Dawley rats were used as donors and recipients,re- spectively.Rat orthotopic kidney transplantation was performed according to a modification of the method decribed by Biota.Experimental rats were randomly divided into 4 groups,homotransplanta- tion rats treated with cyclosporine,isotransplantation,pseudooperation and controls.Animals were subsequently killed at defined time points for determination of the extracellular matrix (ECM) parame- ters (HA,LN and C_(?)) within the graft and in serum by radioimmunoassay.Results Significant increases in HA,LN and C_(?) levels within the renal grafts were found in the rejection group as compared with the non-rejection groups.Serum levels of HA,LN and C_(?) were also significantly elevated in the rejection group at diagnosis of rejection.Serum HA,LN and C_(?) levels were correla- ted with those within the renal grafts.Histologic examination revealed that 4 cases developed acute re- jection in homotransplantation rats treaded with cyclosporine,17 cases in controls.HA,LN and C_(?) levels within the renal grafts were correlated with acute rejection Banff scores.There was correlation between serum levels of HA,LN and C_(?) and acute rejection Banff scores (P＜0.01).Conclusion HA,LN and C_(?) play an important role in the pathogenesis of acut allograft rejection.In addition, serum levels of HA,LN and C_(?) may be a sensitive marker of acute rejection in the postoperative period of renal transplantation.

ObjectiveTo explore the regulation of claudin-4 expression in endometrial adenocarcinoma cell lines by progesterone.Methods Ishikawa cells were treated with various concentrations of megestrol acetate (MA:2,5,10,15,20 mg/L).After cultured for 24,48 and 72 hours,cells growth were measured by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT).The group of Ishikawa cells incubated with MA at the 50％ inhibitory concentration ( IC50 ) was selected for cell apoptosis assay by using transmission electron microscopy and flow cytometry method.Real-time PCR and western blot were used for detecting the mRNA and protein expression levels of claudin-4.The localization of claudin-4 was examined by immunofluorescent staining.Results The inhibitory effects of megestrol acetate on the growth of Ishikawa cells were dosedependent and time-dependent.IC50 of MA on Ishikawa cells was 15 mg/L after incubated for 72 hours.After MA treatment,Ishikawa cells showed shrinkage,nuclear chromatin condensation,fractures of nuclear membrane and endoplasmic reticulum expansion,even round apoptotic bodies were found.The apoptosis rate of cells before MA treatment was (0.076 ±0.024)％,and the rate was (3.934 ±0.816)％ by MA treated for 72 hours,in which there were signicant difference( P ＜ 0.05 ).The relative quantification of claudin-4 mRNA and protein of the cells before MA treatment were 0.64 ± 0.20 and 0.94 ± 0.18,while they were 0.47 -0.15 and 0.62 ±0.15 after MA treated.The expression of claudin-4 was significantly decreased after MA treatment ( P ＜ 0.05 ).The localization of claudin-4 transferred from cytomembrane to cytoplasm and nucleus after MA treatment.Conclusions MA could inhibite the growth of Ishikawa cells,in which the mechanism may be decrease the expression of claudin-4 and the apoptosis of cells.The distribution change of claudin-4 may be related to the anti-cancer effect of progesterone.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effects of combination of Lumbrukinase Capsule (LC) and Probucol Tablet (PT) in treating cerebral infarction (CI) patients' unstable atheromatous plaque of the carotid artery.

METHODS150 patients were randomly assigned to the PT group and the LC group, 75 cases in each. Patients in the PT group took 0.5 g PT each time, twice daily. On the basis of PT, patients in the LC group also took 600 thousand U LC, thrice daily. The treatment course was 12 months for all. The serum levels of TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, fibrinogen (FIB), and changes of the carotid atherosclerotic plaque were measured before treatment, 6 and 12 months after treatment. Meanwhile, adverse events were recorded.

RESULTSThe serum levels of TC, TG, and LDL-C were all lower 6 months after treatment than before treatment in the two groups, showing statistical significance (P < 0.05). The serum level of HDL-C was higher 6 months after treatment than before treatment in the two groups, showing no statistical significance (P > 0.05). When compared with before treatment in the same group, the serum level of FIB significantly decreased after treatment. Besides, there was statistical difference between the two groups (P < 0.05). There was no statistical difference in the serum levels of blood lipids or FIB between 12-month treatment and 6-month treatment in the same group (P > 0.05). The plaque effective rate in the LC group was superior to that of the PT group, showing statistical significance (P < 0.01). During the treatment period, the occurrence of cerebrovascular event was lower in the LC group than in the PT group (P < 0.05). Partial patients in the two groups had gastric discomfort.

CONCLUSIONSThe combination of LC and PT could prevent and treat arteriosclerosis, stabilize the plaque, effectively lower the occurrence of ischemic events. Its clinical application did not increase the risk of hemorrhage. It was safe and effective, worthy of spreading. It was necessary to further observe whether combination of LC and PT could increase side effects of the digestive tract.

Epigenetics comprises the modifications made in gene expressions without changing the DNA sequence itself. Significant epigenetic changes take place during spermatogenesis and fertilization and exert direct influences on embryogenesis. This article provides an overview of the latest researches on epigenetics of male germ cells and a brief discussion on the correlation of sperm with embryogenesis in four aspects: DNA methylation, histone modification, regulation of non-coding RNAs, and genomic imprinting.
