Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2001;14(3):260-261,264
Cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB) is often followed by pulmonary dysfunction, and is also regarded as a high risk factor for development of acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).This article reviewed the recent researches of the mechanisms of lung injury induced by CPB.
3.The advancement of microRNA regulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition in cholangiocarcinoma
Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2017;30(6):665-668
Cholangiocarcinoma is a highly malignant tumor which originates from bile duct epithelial cells, and its invasion and metastasis is an important factor affecting the prognosis of patients and the main causes of the high mortality.Epithelial-mesenchymal transition is a reversible biological process of transition from epithelial phenotype to stromal cell phenotype, which is closely related to tumor invasion and metastasis. The microRNA is an endogenous non-coding RNA with a sequence of 20~25 nucleotides, which participates in the occurrence and development of tumor, especially in the progress of tumor invasion and metastasis by complementary base pairing with the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) of the target gene at the post-transcriptional level.Herein, we present the mechanism of microRNA regulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition and its effect on the invasion and metastasis of cholangiocarcinoma.
4.Importance of Medical Humanistic Education and Its Pratice
Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2006;0(10):-
The medical humanistic spirit is very important, but it has been seriously neglected. It is the key to educate medical students with accomplishment of medical humanistic spirit. And it is also necessary to renew the concept of courses, making the relation between the courses of medical humanitic spirit and specialized profession. The Medical College of Shantou University has practised effectively.
6.Progress in the study of choroidal thickness on diabetic retinopathy by OCT
International Eye Science 2015;(5):817-820
? The choroidal vasculature provides oxygen and nutrients to the outer retina, and is responsible for maintaining the highly metabolically active photoreceptor cells. The normal structure and function of its vascular system is very important for the retina. So it is more meaningful to observe the choroid morphology for tracking pathological changes in diabetic retinopathy. With the application of the high resolution optical coherence tomography ( OCT ) technology, spectral -domain optical coherence tomography ( SD - OCT ) enhanced depth imaging technology can be used to measure the choroidal thickness quantitatively, which provides a new idea for the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy. Therefore, the research and progress of choroidal thickness on diabetic retinopathy by OCT are summarized as follows.

The college students innovative test project, which advocates student-centered teaching pattern focusing on questions and subjects is an important component of the project on undergraduate teaching quality and teaching reform in medical college of Shanghai Jiao Tong university. The innovative test project has effectively fostered the innovative spirits, practical abilities, scientific attitudes and learning initiatives of the college students after being implementing for more than four years.Besides,it has changed the teaching philosophy of teachers and created a favorable atmosphere of innovative practice.Several problems have emerged during the implementation of the project including broad topics, limited sample size and incorrect motives for doing tests.Exclusive mechanism aiming at the long-term effect of the project should be established, the concept of the project should be promoted and the communication platform should be built in order to consummate this project.

Chinese Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2014;22(4):200-203
Objective To evaluate the effects of nutritional intervention on the incidence of malnutrition in patients on maintenance hemodialysis (MHD).Methods Totally 196 patients on MHD were randomly assigned to nutritional intervention group (n =98) and control group (n =98).Nutritional intervention or free diet were given in these two groups. The incidence of malnutrition in these two groups was recoded. Results The baseline age, biochemical indicators, and incidence of malnutrition were matched in these two groups (P >0.05).After 6 months, although the number of the patients with malnutrition [35.7% (35/98)] was slightly increased in the intervention group,it showed no significant difference when compared with the baseline level [33.7% (33/98),P >0.05].In the control group, however, the incidence of malnutrition [59.2% (58/98)] significantly increased (P <0.05).The incidence of malnutrition was significantly lower in the intervention group than in the control group (P < 0.05).Conclusion Nutritional intervention can lower the incidence of malnutrition in patients on MHD.

Objective To evaluate the usefulness of combined three-dimensional (3D) and two-dimensional (2D) contrast enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) for checking the thrombus embolism of different positions within single examination on the pulmonary artery and pelvic-lower limb deep veins. Methods Fifteen patients with suspected pulmonary embolism and pelvic-lower limb deep venous thrombosis (DVT)were evaluated with combined 3D MRA and 2D CE-MRA. 3D spoiled gradient-recalled-echo bolus chase MR angiograms were obtained in four stations from the pulmonary artery to the ankle. Thereafter,3D CE MRA was reversely scanned from the ankle to the pelvic. 2D contrast-enhanced MRI was obtained in pelvis, thigh, and calf. Pulmonary CT angiography (CTA) and/or DSA were performed in 15 patients, and duplex ultrasonography of lower-limb vein was performed in 12 patients. Results Of the 15 cases, acceptable imaging of pulmonary vessel was acquired with 3D CE-MRA in 12 cases. The signal intensity was lower in the deep iliac vein and lower extremities than that in the artery, but vein frame was distinct after post processing. The artery and deep vein were clearly revealed with contrast enhanced FSPGR sequence in 15 cases. 3D CE-MRA imaging disclosed pulmonary embolism in fourteen patients and pelvis-lower limb DVT with multi-place involvement in nine patients. 2D contrast-enhanced MR imaging proved DVT in pelvis-lower limb. 2D contrast-enhanced FSPGR sequence was a complementation of 3D CE-MRA and it had larger scan field. Thrombus presented as low signals and eccentral or intraluminal filling defect. Local caliber of vein thrombus in 6 cases was evidently broadened. Conclusion Within only one MR examination procedure, it is capable of examining the pulmonary embolism and DVT of pelvis-lower limb with combined 3D MRA and 2D contrast enhanced MR. The results are promising as a non-invasion "one-stop shopping" tool in the evaluation of thromboembolic disease.
