2.Mechanism of tumor angiogenesis
Journal of International Oncology 2012;39(7):492-497
Based on the theory of tumor angiogenesis, the vascular system is necessary for the advance and metastasis of the tumor. To inhibit or even cure the tumor, the researchers all over the world have made a great many of studies on the mechanism of tumor angiogenesis and have acquired some achievements.Based on the findings,a lot of factors are involved in tumor angiogenesis, and they constitute the complex regulating network through interaction at the molecular and cellular level.

6. Expressions of Cox-2 and HIF-1α and their relationship with clinicopathologic characteristics of osteosarcoma
Tumor 2008;28(5):427-430
Objective: This study aims to investigate the protein expressions of cyclooxygenase-2 (Cox-2) and hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha (HIF-1α) and their correlations with the clinicopathological features of osteosarcoma and tries to reveal the potential mechanisms for the formation and progression of osteosarcoma. Methods: We screened 59 typical samples of osteosarcoma tissues without os and decalcification treatment. They were grouped according to the clinicopathologic characteristics and were followed up post surgery. Expression of Cox-2 and HIF-1 alpha were detected by immunohistochemistry. The results were evaluated by X2 analysis and Spearman rank correlation analysis. The postoperative survival rates were calculated by Kaplan-Meier survival curve and the differences between groups were analyzed by Log-Rank method. Results: The positive expression rates of COX-2 and HIF-1α in osteosarcoma were 69.49% and 38.98%, respectively, which were significantly different compared with negative expression in control group (P<0.01 and 0.05). The expression of Cox-2 in osteosarcoma positively correlated with the clinical stage (P<0.05) and the expression of HIF-1α correlated with the age of patients (P<0.01). The expressions of Cox-2 and HIF-1α were closely associated with the histological classifications. In COX-2- and HIF-1α-positive groups, the total positive rates (16.67% and 0%) of intraosseous well-differentiated and parosteaosteosarcoma were significantly lower than that of any others (73.33%, and 43.18%), respectively. The difference was significant (and P<0.01 and P<0.05). The expression of Cox-2 had positive correlation with HIF-1alpha. The positive co-expression of both HIF-1α and Cox-2 was 38.98%. There was 30.50% osteosarcoma tissues had no expression of both Cox-2 and HIF-1 alpha. The positive expression rates of HIF-1α in Cox-2 - positive and Cox-2 - negative groups were 56.10% and 0%, respectively. The difference was significant (P<0.01). The postoperative survival period was negatively associated with the expression of Cox-2 and HIF-1α. The postoperative accumulative survival rates were significantly lower in Cox-2 - and HIF-1 alpha - positive patients compared with those in Cox-2 - and HIF-1 alpha-negative patients (P<0.05 and P<0.01, respectively). Conclusion: Cox-2 and HIF-1α were over-expressed in osteosarcoma. Their expressions are related with the formation and progression of tumor and may have synergistic effects in prompting the malignant development of osteosarcoma. The patients with positive expression of Cox-2 and HIF-1α have lower postoperative accumulative survival rates. Their expressions may be useful prognostic factors for osteosarcoma.

Objective To investigate the value of intermediated cutting approach in the total thyroidectomy. Methods The clinical data of patients with total thyroidectomy from January 2009 to December 2011 were analyzed retrospectively.Patients in group A(n =134) were underwent thyroidectomy through intermediate approach, whereas patients in Group B (n =187) were underwent traditional total thyroidectomy. The analysis index included operation periods, operative bleeding amount, the incidence of hypocalcemia and rate of laryngeal nerve injure. Results The operation periods in Group A was shorter than that in group B ((65.4 ± 8.7) second vs.(90.1 ± 11.3) min,t =22.195,P < 0.01).The amount of operative bleeding in group A was, less than that in group B ((20.5 ± 5.7) ml vs.(50.8 ± 11.4) ml,t =31.294,P < 0.01).The incidence rates of temporary recurrent laryngeal nerve injure and the temporary hypocalcemia rate in group A and group B were (0.74% vs.5.88%,10.44% vs.24.59% respectively,x2 =5.72,10.28 respectively,P < 0.05).No permanent hypoparathyroidism or permanent recurrent laryngeal nerve injure case occurred in both groups. Conclusion Intermediate cutting approach was an effective and safe method in terms of total thyroidectomy.

Objective To describe the special ramp lesion, which involves the capsulomeniscal region of posterior horn of medial meniscus and most commonly occurs in association with anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) injury, pre- and intra-operative diagnosis methods, arthroscopy repair technique and follow-up results of arthroscopy second-look & MR review. Methods From April 2002 to April 2005, 89 cases of ACL injury with ramp lesions are enrolled in this series, among them 85 need operation repairing. Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction with hamstring or B-PT-B autograft or allograft and all-inside medial meniscus repair through 2 posteromedial portals and transcondylar portal have been performed. Generally, the ramp lesion accounts for 26.7% of ACL injury, 30.5% for chronic and 19.5% for acute injury respectively. Results Of the repaired ramp lesion cases, 75 cases(88.2%) are available for follow-up, with the duration from 5 to 41 months (mean, 20.2 months). 25 cases underwent arthroscopic second-look and 21 cases received MR evaluation. The study include subjective symptom, clinical examination, and arthroscopic second-look as well as MR review. All of the repaired cases present normal subjective and objective evaluations, and all the 25 second-look cases show completely healing. Of the 21 MR follow-up cases, 18 completely healed, 3 partial healed. Conclusion About 1/3 ACL injuries are associated with medial meniscus ramp lesion, and the morbidity is higher in old injuries than acute injuries. For this combined lesion, one stage ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair was recommended. All-inside meniscus repair is a satisfactory technique for ramp lesion and can get high healing rate.

Objective To study the expression of forkhead box Q1(FOXQ1)in non‐small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) ,then investi‐gate clinical pathological characteristics of NSCLC and its prognosis in patients .Methods The expression of FOXQ1 in 84 cases of NSCLC(selected from June 2007 to December 2008 )was detected by immunohistochemistry(SP) .The correlations of the expres‐sion of FOXQ1 with clinic pathological features and survival time of the NSCLC patients were analyzed .Results The positive ex‐pression rate of FOXQ1 was 91 .7% (77/84) ,closely correlated with patients`histological type and TNM stage(P<0 .05) .The Cox multivariate analysis demonstrated that histological type ,TNM stage and FOXQ1expression were independent factors of NSCLC (P<0 .05) .Conclusion The expression of FOXQ1 may be highly expressed in NSCLC and negatively correlated with prognosis .
