1.Advance in the impact of mesenchymal stem cells on tumor growth
Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2008;17(5):398-400
Mesenchymal stem cells is another adult stem cells in bone marrow apart from hematopoietic stem cells.Because of their strong self-renewal capacity and the potential of multi-lineage differentiation.mesenehymal stem cells are used more and more in the treatment of malignant diseases, such as hematological malignant diseases and extensively applied in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. However, the exact role of mesenehymal stem cells on tumor is not completely clear. This review is about the impact of mesenchymal stem cells on tumor growth and the related mechanism.

Objective To investigate the effect of p38MAPK on the RANTES expression after unilateral ureteral obstruction. Methods Twenty-two rats were randomly assigned to shame operation group (normal group) and operation group after unilateral ureteral obstruction.Renal tissues were examined by light microscopy at 8 h、24 h and 72 h after operation,Immunhistochemistry was applied to measure the expression of RANTES,RT-PCR,Western blot was performed to determine mRNA,protein, respectively. Results Compared with shame opeartion group, the mRNA and protein levels of RANTES in renal interstitum of operation group remarkly increased (P<0.05),and also stimulated the phosphorylation of p38MAPK.Conclusion The overexpression of RANTES in UUO rats by p38MAPK signal transduction pathway.

Clinical Medicine of China 2012;28(6):570-573
Objective To investigate the significance of combined detection of tumor markers in serum and pleural fluid on differential diagnosis of benign and malignant pleural effusion. Methods Three hundred and seventy six cases of pleural effusion were selected. The levels of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA),neuronspecific enolase(NSE),cancer antigen 125 ( CA125 ),squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC) in serum and pleural fluid were examined and they were analyzed combined with histological or cytological evidence using statistical methods. Results There were 298 cases in malignant group and 98 cases in benign group. The levels of the four tumor markers in malignant group were significantly higher than in benign group both in pleural fluid (CEA:[279.9 ± 170.0]μg/L v.s.[ 12.6 ± 6.2 ] μg/L,t =6.29,P < 0.01; NSE:[ 112.3 ± 86.8 ] μg/L v.s.[14.7 ±7.3] μg/L,t =5.13,P <0.01 ;SCC:[ 10.6 ± 5.4] μg/L v.s.[ 1.2 ±0.6 ] μg/L,t =2.34,P <0.01;CA125:[ 409.2 ± 206.7] U/ml v.s.[ 44.0 ± 20.5 ] U/ml,t =7.46,P < 0.01 ) and in serum ( CEA:[ 86.7 ±42.0] μg/L v.s.[6.2±3.1]μg/L,t=3.14,P<0.01;NSE:[31.6±18.2]μg/Lv.s.[11.2±5.0]μg/L,t=4.61,P<0.01;SCC:[3.5±2.2]μg/Lv.s.[1.8±0.g]μg/L,t=1.70,P<0.01;CA125:[134.0±72.6]U/ml v.s.[ 19.8 ± 9.6 ] U/m1,t =4.04,P < 0.01 ).Moreover, the levels of tumor markers in pleural fluid were higher than in serum. The sensitivity were 100% by combined detection of pleural fluid and serum tumor markers in parallel and the specificity were 100% in sequence. Conclusion The levels of CEA,NSE,CA125,SCC in pleural effusion were more sensjtive than which in serum.Combined detection of tumor markers in pleural fluid and serum could improve the sensitivity of diagnosis for benign and malignant pleural effusion.
8.Treatment of Cranialfacial Fibrous Dysplasia
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(07):-
Objective To discuss the treatment of cranialfacial fibrous dysplasia. Methods The treatment of 10 cases of cranialfacial fibrous dysplasia was analyzed. Results The cosmetic deformity was corrected in all the cases. No new symptom of nervous system occurred. Conclusion It is important to carry out the correct surgical plan according to patients' age,location,mono-or poly-ostotic form of fibrous dysplasia, presence or absence of functional limitations, and aesthetic problem.

ObjectiveTo compare the therapeutic efficacies and adverse reactions of micro-invasive thread embedding with two types of materials in treating chronic facial paralysis.MethodTotally 186 patients with chronic facial paralysis were randomized into a catgut group and a PDS group, 93 cases in each group. For the two groups, Cuanzhu (BL2), Yuyao (EX-HN4), Taiyang (EX-HN5), Dicang (ST4), Jiache (ST6), Quanliao (SI18), Yingxiang (LI20), Qianzheng (Extra), Xiaguan (ST7), Fengchi(GB20), and bilateral Hegu (LI4) and Zusanli (ST36) were selected. The thread embedding treatment was given once every 10 d, 3 timesas a treatment course, successively for 2 courses. The therapeutic efficacy and adverse reactions were analyzed after 2 treatment courses. ResultThe Sunnybrook Facial Grading System scores were significantly increased after intervention in the two groups (P<0.05), while there was no significant difference in comparing the therapeutic efficacy between the two groups (P>0.05). There were no significant differences in comparing the adverse reactions including tenderness, nodules, and swelling right after thread embedding between the two types of materials (P>0.05); 10 d after thread embedding, the adverse reactions happened inthe catgut group were significantly more than that in the PDS group (P<0.05); 30 d after thread embedding treatment, the tenderness occurred more frequently in the catgut group compared to that in the PDS group; although the occurred frequency of nodules and swelling was comparatively low, the total frequency in the catgut group was significantly higher than that in the PDS group (P<0.01). There were no significant differences in comparing the adverse reactions between the two groups 60 d after treatment (P>0.05).Conclusion Acupoint thread embedding with PDS can help recover facial nerve function in chronic facial paralysis; as a thread embedding material, PDS thread produces a lower occurrence rate of adverse reactions, and thus it’s a kind excellent thread embedding material.
