Over the past ten years studies in animals and human have supported the links between inflammation and tumors. The inflammatory cells and agents found in tumors play an important role in the pathogenesis of malignant disease facilitating tumor growth, invasion and metastasis. This article reviewed the molecular mechanism of inflammatory action in promoting tumors and suggested that inflammatory cytokine network is more likely to contribute to immunosuppression than to mount an effective host anti-tumor response. Aim To explore the effects of inhibitors of glycosphingolipid biosynthesis D-PDMP on the proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells. Methods Neural stem cells cultured in vitro were treated with different concentration of D-PDMP. The effects of D-PDMP on proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells were evaluated by counting of neurospheres size and cellular number, MTT assaying and the experiment of inducing differentiation. Results Neurospheres were smaller in size after treated with D-PDMP. The data of cellular counting and MTT assay suggested that D-PDMP could inhibit proliferation of neural stem cells and lead cells death in higher concentration, D-PDMP also reduced the differentiation ability of neural stem cells. Although differentiated cells were fewer, they could be induced into neurons and astrocytes. Conclusion The inhibitors of glycosphingolipid biosynthesis D-PDMP could inhibit the proliferation of neural stem cells, even lead cells death. It also reduced the differentiation ability of neural stem cells.

Objective To investigate the effect of flow management of cerebral perfusion during aortic arch surgery on the neurological complication. Methods From March 2007 to November 2011,189 patients underwent aortic arch surgery with hypothermic circulatory arrest plus antegrade cerebral perfusion in our department. The clinical data were analyzed retrospectively.According to the different methods of cerebral perfusion flow nanagement, patients were divided into two groups.Single pump with double limb (to the lower body and brain) perfusion was used in group A (96 patients),based on natural distribution of petfusion flow without control.Modified flow management was used in group B (93 patients).A magnetic flow sensor probes was installed on the brain perfusion limb to monitor and control the cerebral perfusion flow precisely (10 ml · kg-1 · min-1).Postoperative neurological complications were compared between two groups. Results There was no significant difference between the two groups in CPB time, aortic clamping time and circulatory arreating time. However, the morbidity of postoperative neurological complications in group B was much lower than that in group A (1.1% vs 5.2%,P <0.05).Conclusion When performing antegrade cerebral perfusion during aortic arch surgery, precisely control of cerebral perfusion flow can reduce the morbidity of postoperative neurological complications effectively.

ObjectiveTo measure cortical areas involved ankle dorsiflexion and planter flexion.MethodsSix-health subjects performed ankle dorsiflexion and planter flexion. While, functional MRI at 1.5 T was made.ResultsWhen ankle dorsiflexion, the excited cortical areas included bilateral primary motor cortex (MⅠ) and primary somatosensory cortex (SⅠ), but area on contralateral side bigger than that on ipsilateral side, as well as chief visual cortexes and vermis of cerebellum. Inhibited areas included area 19, area 20 and area 39. When ankle planter flexion, the excited areas included contralateral secondary motor area (MⅡ) and striate body, ipsilateral supplementary motor area (SMA) and limbic system. Inhibited areas included bilateral upper middle precentral gyrus and postcentral gyrus, superior parietal lobule, inferior parietal lobule and prefrontal cortex.ConclusionThere is a great difference in the brain function images respectively in ankle dorsiflexion and planter flexion.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the status of human papillomavirus ( HPV) infection and its genotypes in male patients in Zhenjiang area.
METHODSUsing PCR and reverse dot blot hybridization, we determined the genotypes of HPV DNA in 245 male patients at our Clinic of Dermatology and STD.
RESULTSThe total rate of HPV infection was 43.67% (107/245), and 18 subtypes were detected. Among the 107 HPV-positive cases, low-risk, high-risk, and combined high- and low-risk infections accounted for 39.25% (42/107), 38.32% (41/107), and 22.43% (24/107), respectively. The most notable low-risk HPV types were HPV6 and HPV11, and the most notable high-risk HPV types were HPV16, HPV52, and HPV58. The rates of single infection and multi-infection were 53.27% (57/107) and 46.73% (50/107), respectively. One case had the most types, infected with 8 genotypes. No statistically significant differences were observed in the total rate of HPV infection among different age groups (Χ2 = 7.999, P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe dominant subtypes of HPV infection in male patients in Zhenjiang area were HPV6, HPV11, and HPV16. The most common subtypes were HPV6 and HPV11 in low-risk infection, and HPV16, HPV52, and HPV58 in high-risk infection.

OBJECTIVETo investigate different treatment methods for stage-Is testicular mixed germ cell tumors (TMGCTs).
METHODSWe retrospectively analyzed the clinical data about 3'cases of stage-Is TMGCTs (aged 26-39 years) treated in the 175th Hospital of PLA, reviewed relevant literature, and explored the clinical characteristics of TMGCTs.
RESULTSOf the 3 patients, 1 was treated by radical orchiectomy, 1 by radical orchiectomy + retroperitoneal lymph node dissection + BEP chemotherapy scheme, and the other by radical orchiectomy + radiotherapy. The pathological components of TMGCTs were immature teratoma, seminoma, spermatocytoma, chorioepithelioma, embryonal carcinoma, and yolk sac tumor. No recurrence or distant metastasis was found during the 24-month follow-up after surgery.
CONCLUSIONThe diagnosis of TMGCTs primarily depends on physical examination, ultrasonography, MRI, and measurement of serum tumor markers, while its confirmation necessitates pathological examination, and its treatment is basically radical orchiectomy.
