Objective We sought to compare the ability of MEWS score,APACHE Ⅱ score and combination of the two scoring systems to predict the prognosis of patients in emergency medical department.Methods During January to March 2014,640 patients in emergency medical department who met the criteria were set as the research object.The patients admission was the starting point for clinic observation.The relevant data were collected for carrying on the MEWS and APACHE Ⅱ ratings,tracking the patients' prognosis.The corresponding predictors for prognosis of patients such as sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,negative predictive value and ROC curve by MEWS score,APACHE Ⅱ score and combination of the two scoring systems were compared.Results The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was 0.93,0.79 and 0.93 with MEWS score,APACHE Ⅱ score and combination of the two scoring systems.The comparison of either of the two scoring systems showed significant difference.When death was named as the prediction factor,the sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value and negative predictive value were 76.92％,91.70％,51.02％,97.23％ for MEWS score; 83.08％,62.80％,20.15％ and 97.04％ for APACHE Ⅱ score; 92.31％,86.43％,43.48％ and 97.58％ for combination of the two scoring systems.Conclusions Combination of the MEWS and APACHE Ⅱ scoring systems can be used to predict the prognosis of patients in emergency medical department.It posesses high sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value and negative predictive value,which indicating a high predictive capability.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical effectiveness of oral sensorimotor therapy on oral motor dysfunction after cerebal palsy (CP).MethodsThirty-two CP children were confirmed the type of cerebral palsy by neurological examination and developmental age by Gesell's developmental scale. Oral sensorimotor therapy was performed one time a day by speech-language therapist.Before and after a treatment period of 3 months,the oral motor and language-speech ability of each case was assessed using Oral Motor Scale and Sign-Significate relations.ResultsAfter treatment, the oral motor function had been improved significantly(t=11.946,P<0.01) and the oral motor score was meanly increased by 14.94 score.The levels of oral language comprehension and expression had also been improved significantly(t=5.376,P<0.01;t=7.552,P<0.01).Articulation of 28 cases(87.5%) was improved. ConclusionOral sensorimotor therapy is effective on improving oral motor function, articulation,as well as on increasing language comprehension and expression.

Mut+ and Mut(s) recombinant strains were screened by phenotype and Mut+ recombinant strains were used to detect BmK AngMl gene copy number in the real-time PCR. Expression of BmK AngM1 in the Mut+ recombinant strain was compared with that of the Mut(s) recombinant strain with the same single copy of BmK AngM1 gene under the same condition. The results indicated that the transcription level of BmK AngM1 gene in the Mut(s) recombinant strain was 2.7 fold of that in the Mut recombinant strain in the real-time PCR, and the expression of BmK AngM 1 in the Mut(s) recombinant strain was 1.5 fold of that in the Mut+ recombinant strain. Therefore, Mut(s) recombinant strain showed better ability to express BmK AngM1 than Mut+ recombinant strain.

OBJECTIVETo explore biomechanical properties and stress-strain of mucosa scars after cleft palate surgery.

METHODSAfter the model of mucosa scars was made, the mucosa scars and normal mucosa were excised and examined immediately by tensionometry.

RESULTSThe mucosa scars after cleft palate surgery were compared with normal mucosa. The Poisson's ratio of mucosa scars and normal mucosa was 0.5 and 0.49, respectively, showing no significant difference between the two groups. The ultimate Young's modulus of mucosa scars was about 24.22 MPa, however, it declined to 3.32 Mpa in normal mucosa.

CONCLUSIONSThe mucosa scars after cleft palate surgery are biomechanically weaker than normal mucosa. It can be used for further research, such as maxillary orthognathic surgery, distraction osteogenesis, and orthodontic treatment.

OBJECTIVEThis study was undertaken to investigate the clinical features of oral motor dysfunction and feeding problems as well as the nutritional status of children with cerebral palsy (CP).

METHODSFifty-nine CP children, 39 boys and 20 girls, mean age 31 months (20 to 72 months), were recruited. Their parents were interviewed for high risk factors and feeding history. Each case was assessed for oral motor and feeding problems based on oral motor and feeding skill score; for nutritional status by measurement of weight, height; neurologically for type of cerebral palsy and for developmental age by Gesell's developmental scale. Equal number of age and sex matched controls were included for comparison of nutritional status, oral motor and feeding skill score.

RESULTSAmong 59 patients, 51 cases had oral motor dysfunction and 55 cases had feeding problems including all athtosis, spastic tetraplegia, and 16 had spastic diplegia. The scores of both the mean oral motor function and feeding skill of CP children were significantly lower than those of the controls (P < 0.001). Main food of children with cerebral palsy consisted of liquid and semisolid diet. Body weight and height below the 25th percentile were found in 13 cases and 19 cases, respectively.

CONCLUSIONSThe majority of the children with cerebral palsy had oral motor dysfunction and feeding problems which appeared in early age and disturbed the growth and nutritional status. Thorough assessment for oral motor function, feeding problems and nutritional status of CP children is indicated in order to start timely rehabilitation and nutritional interventions which can significantly improve their nutritional status and quality of life.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between the contour of articular eminence and traces of the condylar kinematic center during jaw opening movement in healthy subjects, and compare trace characteristics of condylar kinematic center and MRI findings in TMD patients.

METHODSIn 10 healthy subjects, jaw-opening motion was recorded. The kinematic center and terminal hinge axis point of the condyle were used as trace reference points. The contour of articular eminence was examined by MRI. Seven patients with TMD signs and/or symptoms (disk displacement) were selected for this study. The condylar trace was recorded during jaw protrusion and opening-closing. The internal derangement in temporomandibular joints was detected by MRI and defined as: (1). normal disk position, (2). disk displacement with reduction, (3). disk displacement without reduction.

RESULTSIn healthy subjects, most of the opening traces of the kinematic center coincided with the contour of articular eminence (8/10 joints in left, 9/10 joints in right). For terminal hinge axis point, no trace coincided with the contour of articular eminence (0/20 joints in left and right). In TMD patients, according to MRI findings, the condylar traces of kinematic center in 3 normal disk position joints showed normal shape. However, in 6 disk displacements with reduction joints and 5 disk displacement without reduction joints, the condylar traces of kinematic center showed irregular patterns except 1 disk displacement with reduction joint.

CONCLUSIONSIn comparison with the terminal hinge axis point, the opening traces of the kinematic center can be interpreted as the translatory movement of the condyle/disc along the articular eminence. The study suggests the use of kinematic center in condylar movement studies.

OBJECTIVETo study the commodity specification and grade standard of Pseudostellaria Radix, for standardizing market order and achieving industrialization, standardization and modernization of Pseudostellariae Radix.

METHODThe different areas and grade medicinal materials of Pseudostellariae Radix were respectively measured in quantitative characteristics of appearance, and the present grade classification of Pseudostellaria Radix was scientifically verified by the content of polysaccharide. Then the determination data were evaluated by spss correlation analysis, principal component analysis and cluster analysis. So combining with the actual production, the commodity grade standard of Pseudostellariae Radix was formulated.

RESULTCorrelation analysis indicated that the present grade classification of Pseudostellaria Radix was reasonable, and the more the grade of Pseudostellariae Radix was high, the more the content of polysaccharide was high. Meanwhile, length as a classification index was not suitable for the commodity grade standard of Pseudostellariae Radix. Using principal component analysis and cluster analysis, combining actual production, the thickest diameter, weight of single root tuber and the number of 50 g root tuber were filtrated and the grade was divided into 5 ranks: big, mid- dle, small selected goods, big ungraded goods and small ungraded goods.

CONCLUSIONthe commodity specification and grade standard of Pseudostellariae Radix that mainly included the thickest diameter, weight of single root tuber and the number of 50 g root tuber was formulated, the standard was divided into 5 grade. Each grade was not only consistent with the present situation of medicinal materials market, it could also reflected the intrinsic quality of Pseudostellariae Radix. In conclusion, the standard could be used as a classifica- tion basis to the commodity specification and grade.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of RNA interference (RNAi) targeting E6AP on the proliferation and apoptosis of HeLa cells.

METHODSHeLa cells were cultured and divided into 3 groups: blank control group, cells transfected with nonsense siRNA (small interference RNA), and cells transfected with specific E6AP siRNA. The expressions of E6AP mRNA and protein were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot before and after the transfection respectively. Cell proliferation was determined by methylthiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT). The cell apoptosis index was assessed by flow cytometry.

RESULTSUpon treatment with E6AP siRNA for 24, 48 and 72 h, the expression level of E6AP mRNA decreased 33%, 72% and 70% than siRNA treated group. The protein expression levels in 48 h and 72 h E6AP siRNA groups decreased 38%, 59% comparing with those of the nonsense siRNA treated group (P < 0.05). The proliferative capacity of cells transfectd with E6AP siRNA was significantly lower than blank control group (F = 101.38, P < 0.05) and siRNA treated group (F = 38.64, P < 0.05). The apoptosis index of HeLa cells treated with E6AP siRNA was significantly higher than that of the nonsense siRNA (F = 41.48, P < 0.05) and the blank control group (F = 86.36, P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSiRNA targeting can effectively suppress the expression levels of E6AP mRNA, corresponding with a proliferation inhibition and an enhanced apoptosis of HeLa cells.
